I couldn't use any of my MS dollars to purchase Red Dead Redemption. It made me use a credit card to purchase it. I guess because it is a 360 game? I've never had that issue with any XBOne games.
I had purchased the Batman Arkam game the previous day while on sale and I was able to use my MS dollars for that(or whatever the credits are called)

I think that I experienced the same thing when I bought Borderlands. Should have tried to purchase it on the website.

I initially tried on the website. I had the same results. It required me to use a credit card for purchase.

So far Red Dead Redemption has been alright. Having a devil of a time though trying to get together with a friend and get a Posse formed and go cause mayhem online and shoot **** up! I ended up just using my disc version loved that all my DLC was included!

I picked up another One today. The PrimeDay deal was insane. 1TB system, 2 controllers (one that funky new blue), The Division, R6 Siege, Forza 2 and $50 Amazon card all for $299. I needed another BluRay player/media steamer for a new room and this fit the bill exactly. Decided not to wait for the S, at least until it comes in black and they start cranking out 4K games as the standard.

you can apparently get Xbox voice commands back now by disabling Cortana...

but it will go legacy 100%. meaning you need a Kinect. and no voice commands in Windows 10 UWP apps.

I think I will try it out. Cortana just doesn't work for me as well as I hoped it would.

Yesterday I found that somehow two Movies & TV apps were installed on my console. One of them would not open and the other was the old version of the app. I had to do a hard reboot for each one to uninstall them. After completing that and reinstalling the app, I still had the old version.

After some research, it sounds like the issue is tied to an update MS pushed out the other day. I'm really liking the new version of the app, so I hope they get it fixed soon. It may get me to swing away from Vudu if they ever partner up with Ultraviolet.

The first part is crazy to me.

(Here's the exact list by the way:
Quote:
If you choose to opt-out of Cortana, please be aware of the following:
o    Headset voice control support will be disabled.
o    Voice dictation will be disabled.
o    Universal Windows apps voice features will no longer function.
o    Only “Xbox…” legacy voice commands will be recognized.
Seriously though, how is it that they're designing this operating system that one type of commands only works through one type of microphone?! I mean, I just logically don't understand how that works at all.

well, it makes sense that they don't want to change the original code for the Xbox commands. that's extra work.

you don't want the subroutines for Cortana? then we'll go load the old subroutines.

like if you don't like the changes to the Groove Music app, you can just use the trusty old Windows Media Player. But don't expect them to retrofit WMP with new features.

Right, but you don't need to implement new APIs to use a USB microphone versus a built-in microphone on a PC. Or another example, I don't need a dedicated microphone for Skype versus Steam chat. It's a matter of passing voice data to the application. Once they implement an alternate input for the 'new' features, you would think that should be universally applicable. I mean, if the original commands were hard-coded to that extent where there are tied to a specific microphone input, that's insanity.

Doesn't affect me either way, I have a Kinect set up. It's just a bit absurd-seeming.

"Hey Cortana..." is really slow (but more full-featured) because it processes in the cloud. "Xbox ..." uses more stringent commands but processes locally and is far faster.

Thx Hoff! So Cortana is gone? Ignore me if you want np. I have a lot of catching up to do. Haven't touched my XB1 in months due to working on the HT room.

Cortana is not gone. You can disable her if you would like and then the Xbox legacy commands will be enabled.

Cortana is going thru some growing pains right now.

I show that my XBOne updated at 5:36AM on 7/16/2016. No idea what the size was but I would think it's the same one.

EDIT: Looks like this update fixed the issue playing 3D BDs. The previous update I got fixed the issues of not being able to play any BDs. I reported both issues and they had updates pretty quick to fix the issues.

Can the IR blaster port be connected directly to an IR in port on another device, such as a receiver, or does this have to be a blaster stickied on to the IR sensor?

Over the last few days I've had a strange problem with my Xbox One--I've had to unplug and re-plug the power (i.e., "cold boot") it to get it started after its been off all night. It's in "instant on" power mode. After that first start of the day I can turn it off and restart it multiple times without fail.

I have had the same issue over the last couple of days. Lots of apps crashing, and having to do a hard reboot every couple of hours to get things working. I am not sure what update hit the Xbox One over the weekend, but it has been a real bummer for me.

Wonder of wonders! It's been over 24 hours since I started it up and it just started up without my having to cold boot it. Hopefully it was a very temporary phenomena.

Just put in the order for one of the new custom controllers... Pricy but soooooo cool. The way I'm justifying is I was supposed to drop crazy money for an Australia trip that later got downgraded to a much cheaper Hawaii trip so now I'm flush with money... haha...

Maybe I'll just use it for my Surface Pro 4. I have so many controllers. My main one is the Elite controller which I play everything on. I have the white Sunset Overdrive controller which has never been used (wanted to keep the white pristine). I have a Day One controller, also never used. I have the Halo console one (never used). I have the Titanfall controller which was pretty beat up (was my first constantly used controller). I have a regular black controller which other people use when we game together.

That's what I'm most excited for, using my new Xbox 1s controller to play world of tanks blitz on the iPad. So glad legacy controllers like my Xbox elite will still work on the Xbox 1s and the Scorpio. Good move MS.

Yeah, I have an S controller on pre-order for next week. I'm hoping the BT will pair natively with the Steam Link, although that remains to be tested. I have an Elite controller for the console, and use the Day 1 controller + dongle on the PC... having another XB1 controller isn't a bad thing.

But the new controller's $60 + tax price tag () now has me thinking "why not just go ahead and get the $300 S console + controller for upstairs"..? Still, probably wisest to hold out for Scorpio.

Yes. For only $240 more you get the console in addition to the controller. A pretty good deal when you look at it that way.
