Is anyone playing that Star Trek Online? Been playing it for a few days now and I have to say it's pretty fun and addicting.
I downloaded this game on PC in 2012 and played a little but vaguely remember it. I was strictly racing sim on the PC.
Playing it now I'm wondering why I didn't play it much back then. Just spoke with a friend who kicked it off himself today and also played it on PC.
He says the space component of the game didn't exist in 2012. That would explain why I didn't play it much back then.
You can tell this is two games in one. The ground component has some pretty dated graphics. Textures don't look to bad but overall you'll get the idea it's dated.
However the space combat is WOW. Well maybe not "WOW" kinda wow but definitely visually impressive and very fun. Game has lots of depth to it and a pretty long story with lots of missions, or "Episodes" as they call it. Plenty of customization and it's pretty deep. You can jump in and just play right away or you can spend some time making sure you optimize everything you have on your ship and with your crew to maximize your potential.
If you do decide to give it a spin I implore you give it more than just 5 minutes. At first it's slow but once you start getting your stuff it gets interesting.
Ok, the downside, it is a free game but there is a money factor in for special this and thats. Personally I think you can get a ton of fun off the free stuff alone as that's what I've been doing. I think it would behoove them to update the ground game graphically though to match the visuals of the space combat.
