Got the new console update (Preview) and holy smokes is that so much faster! It totally feels like a new console again. Not sure if it is a Placebo, but it seems like everything is launching faster as well. I really like how hitting the Xbox button now takes it to the menu selection for the option of going back to the home screen, Games/Apps, and the store as well as your most recent apps and pins.

Cool can't wait to check it out when I get home

Edit: Added video

Download speeds are more consistent. Before the download would stop and go. The new build the speed flows without pauses and correctly slows when starting a game that requires bandwidth.

The 5.0 is here

Is there a setting on the Blu ray app that changes the contrast during movie playback during lighter and dark scenes?

I'm watching the Fellowship of the Ring the extended edition and I'm noticing this effect during the movie and don't remember it doing that before. Not sure if it's the Xbox, or TV ( LG 8600)

I would bet it's the LG. I had a similar issue with my Samsung LED years ago, before I turned it off...very bothersome in dark movies.

Never noticed before with other movies is the thing. I watch enough dark movies that I would notice that, so maybe it's the movie.

Though I did have the TV do an update as well as the Xbox

I believe Microsoft will eventually roll this feature into the Xbox One to replace the missing snap mode feature.

Microsoft is calling its picture-in-picture feature “Compact Overlay,” and it will be available for all app developers creating Universal Windows apps. Built-in apps like Movies & TV or Skype will support picture-in-picture, allowing you to watch a TV show or watch a Skype video call in a window while navigating away to another app.

Breaking with tradition Microsoft will hold their E3 media briefing on Sunday instead of Monday this year.

Microsoft announced today that its E3 Xbox briefing will kick off at 2 p.m. PT on Sunday, June 11. And judging by the image accompanying the announcement, we're expecting Scorpio news to be the headliner.

That's good news. I try to listen to their briefing at work, but it rarely works out well.

Microsoft is the most exciting prospect for E3 with Scorpio to be unveiled. Nintendo has revealed everything about Switch and Sony is done with the PS4 Pro.

Unless Sony drops a PS5 bomb, Microsoft won't have to worry about going first like with the One/PS4 reveal.

This is going to be a fantastic year. Picking up Scorpio as my next console. Building an AMD Ryzen rig (looking at the top of the line 1800X) for 4K video editing which should be above and beyond for a PC gaming setup. A $500 CPU that matches and beats a $1000+ Intel CPU? Nice... Now will wait and see what happens with Vega versus whatever Nvidia has to get my next GPU.

I'm going with an all AMD Rig myself. Ryzen/Vega. Though I'll have to see what GPU prices are like. I'd like to get my hands on a 16GB HBM2 model if I can, but I think it might be out of my price range. I get the feeling that a Ryzen/Vega setup will perform very well. Heck even the Ryzen 1700 CPU looks very nice with 8 cores!

after going crazy trying to edit 4K video in Adobe Premiere with my current rig, I want all the power I can get so I'm pretty sure I'm getting the 1800X. It's excessive for gaming but not for video editing.

You can never have to much power for video editing! And eventually somebody will make some game's that will utilize the power of that beast so I don't think it's overkill at all, just being proactive!!!

Which model of samsung TV's do you have? Just curious as I'm looking to upgrade our TV soon and still trying to decide what to get for movie's and gaming. I have both an xbox one S and a PS4 (not the Pro version).

Does the elite controller, work if the xbox one is in an inclosed media cabinet, and the wood doors are closed? Im hearing mixed messages on this. Or would I need to leave the door open (line of sight) to use the controller when gaming?
Thanks

Anyone with Astro A50 and on the new Preview program build having the headphone turnoff? Mine has been acting up lately where it will just turn off and it is fully charged. I just checked and I'm a firmware update or two behind and flashing to 5037 to see if that fixes the problem. Just curious is this is known issue or I'm SOL on the XB1 with these. May need to try them out on the PS4 and see if I have any troubles with them.

No issues with mine. Use it almost daily and I'm in the preview program.

I just read that Beam will be coming in a build tonight for insiders! If you have a chance to try it, please leave some comments! I'm so excited about Beam.

The reason is that Beam is supposed to have near realtime interaction with no latency. This is compared to the 40+ seconds with Twitch. My online friends and I tried to play local multiplayer games like Jackbox Party Pack with Twitch but it was impossible due to the huge latency.
