I read somewhere that nurburgring might be released. I haven't seen anything official but I would love for that to happen.

I'm out until they bring back the Japanese mountain track (and a decent wheel.)

Well if they're smart they'll release it. I think it's just a matter of how they integrate it into the career. I'd take it as a standalone track though with no connection to your career. I just want to see it in the game. Nurburgring is almost a requirement for a Forza game by this point. The only Forza game I'm interested in that it wouldn't make sense for is the Horizon series. Other than that a proper Forza game should come with the Ring. I really think it was a timing thing. If MS could have delayed releasing the One until next year I think we'd see a much more complete Forza game.

I am not too worried about a wheel since I have never used one, but am hoping to this gen since if I get one it will be early in the consoles lifecylce. That being said though I really like how the controller feels. It is far from sim but having the rumble triggers adds a lot to the game IMO.

Also, even though the game does seem light in the features, I think the graphics and driving are spot on and that's what keeps me coming back. Did FM4 have more to do, yes it did but I never really got into anything other than racing in Forza so...

Oh yeah, bring on the green hell...I am itching for that track.

I wish I had the link handy but apparently someone is making a USB dongle to allow other system controllers and they claim it will support the Fanatec you have.

I don't see how that could work for a wheel, though. Wheels are so finicky that even generic drivers turn out disastrous.

Caught up in this thread, thanks for the tips everyone- especially the Forza Rewards link info. It looks like they reset every month [and change every month, too]. Does everyone wait until the end of the month to claim? Or can you get them early in the month, and then if you move up a Tier, claim the new rewards too? Or is it a 1-time-per-month thing? Searching Forza's website and forums were unclear on that.

The Forza rewards are great. Purchased way more cars than I otherwise would have been able to. The June rewards are up now..like clock work... No, you don't need to do anything special that I know of.

Was released during E3.

Could still use some sprucing up with the track roster, but at least it's at a respectable level finally thanks to the three freebies (I believe that it's equal to Forza 2 right now which I consider the bare minimum for track count in these games, not counting Forza 2's pair of paid DLC tracks that didn't integrate into career mode like Forza 5's freebies thankfully do).

This is still my go to game. There has never been more than two weeks when I have not run a few faces. Looks great, controls great and sounds great (Important for a racer IMHO).

I finally did a few laps of the new and improved "Ring" in Forza 5. Is it just me, as I haven't seen much in this thread about it, but I think they did a GREAT job. The elevation changes are more noticeable and you can see how much improved the lighting is. The textures are solid and the changes from Forza 4 in visuals is A LOT. Heck, the changes in the "Ring" itself is noticable. I remember racing it in Forza 4, taking various cues in the in scenery, and now those have changed given time has changed the track since Forza 4.

Great Job Indeed.

I don't have alot of posts since I joined AVS Forums in 2004. I mainly read the information in threads as a source of research material. - quoted from The Outcast in April 2007.

I believe that it's also the first time in a Forza title where you can run the modern Grand Prix course combined with what survives of the Nordschleife (Well over a mile doesn't exist anymore because it had to be demolished to make room for the modern GP track built back in the 1980's). Both have been included before in this series, but I don't believe that you could ever run the combined circuit until now.

Yes this is the first time you can run it combined. It was a well known fact that Forza Ring wasn't exactly accurate. When the GP was introduced it was supposed to be accurate. That made putting the two together difficult.

They did an excellent job on the Ring. Really fun. It looks great, the sensation of speed, lighting, all good. I was too busy trying free play to see if it is part of the campaign or not. I hope so, I need to get back to this game just working too much these days.

Wow. I haven't played in months, used to be my daily fix.

It's almost too late. T10 plays too many mental games on me (they are not Rockstar and never will be), and I think they finally did me in. Anyways, maybe I will try it again to drive the Ring.

Now that nurburgring is out, and it's a nice track (just played by setting a manual single race), does anyone know will it be part of the campaign now (instead of 8 tracks we have 9 now)?

I stopped playing because I was really sick of..."we now return to"

I'll tell you what, if they next Forza comes out and only has 7-8 tracks, no matter how good it looks, I will not buy it...gets old too quick..

The two things that really make it for Forza, to me at least, is racing with friends and rivals with friends. I have a friend and our only rival criteria is using the V8 Supercar with default PI and trying to beat each others laptime on a few different tracks. You'd be surprise how much time can be blown and fun (and admittedly frustration when you're just a two turns away from nailing that perfect lap and blow it) can be had.

Don't get me wrong, that aspect of the game is great. It's sad but, most of the people on my friends list don't really have a Xbox one yet (again, waiting for titles). Others are not huge into racing games, so most dont even have Forza 5.

When I buy a game, I always buy it for (some acceptations to this rule like Titanfall, some COD games) the story mode first, then multiplayer 2nd.

As a gamer I want to see what the devs were designing a game around and how they pull the story out of it. Racing games are different but, it still is about the quest and getting GOLD on all races but, as I said, with Forza 5 with the limited tracks, the "We now return to..." got old after about 5-8 hours playing.

Maybe it's just me but, I guess I am still a old school gamer, after all my first video game system was an Atari 2600 and I have had almost every system from then (even a Neo Geo and a Vectrex)....I even own 5 full size coin op games...

The Ring is a part of the Campaign. It has given Forza 5 a little refresher for me. it looks really good.

David, I'm in the same boat. Although I started out with intellivision I think? then Atari, Coleco Vision....and so on.

I don't even care about multiplayer. So something like Titanfall doesn't even remotely interest me whatsoever. No campaign, or short campaign = I'm not wasting my money on it.

Guess I'm old school too.

As a 2600 kid also I know what you mean. But I tend to compartmentalize experiences. If there is some features or experience a game/console can provide that I like then I'm on. The points about Forza is what draws me to it and it's a ton of fun. Forza 4 I went deep into the career part. With Forza 5 I'm not interested in a few thousand car/track combos never really "mastering" any. I guess it's because of the PC racing I've been doing and the leagues I've been racing in since Forza 3 and 4. I started getting further away, over time, from career stuff and online ORGANIZED competitive racing.
These sites pretty much destroyed career racing for me, lol

Pretty much destroyed console racing for me also but that was rejuvenated with friends.

One thing I do not like about Forza's campaign is the short races. I don't know if they designed for the A.D.D generation but races that consists of 2-3 laps drive me nuts. Just when you get into your grove they pull you out of it and toss you on another track. You don't get a chance to learn the tracks before being tossed into another one. I also hate (all racing games for this) starting last.

When has this ever not been the case? I don't know the last time I played a racing game where unless it was a short track it was ever past 3 laps. I figured that was pretty standard. I'm by no means part of the ADD generation (36) but anything past 3 laps gets to be a chore. Heck doing two laps on the 'Ring is a beat down.

As for starting last I would like to have qualifying be a part for those that want it. It makes sense but most people play on normal or easy and starting anywhere other than last would mean you always win and have almost no competition. It's a compromise.

Whole heartedly agree. It's reeks arcade. Don't know if you ever got a chance to play a game called Race Pro on the 360. That game was MILES ahead of anything on a console ever made. You had to qualify before races. And no 3 lap races (at least that I can recall, might have been a couple at the very beginning) There was a lot to it and the physics were as close as you were going to get to a sim on a console. It was made by the SIMBIN guys when the Simbin guys were good. lol.

If you have an old 360 around you can find a copy of this game dirt cheap. But be careful, it's a gateway drug. It's based off RaceOn from simbin. And it's going to make you want to experience the true full game on PC, and if you do that, uh oh.

Whew! The Ring is nice, as well as the extra credits I guess I was given for being here and there in the past.

Cool. I think I will keep it in the drive for a bit.

Wow, I feel like I am necroing a thread with this question.

I am trying to make sure that I am not going crazy here. I have noticed that since the last patch I am having weird issues with the sound in this game...almost like the sound is being muffled or something. As far as I have noticed, it does happen on every track but maybe some are just worse than others.

It is really annoying because of how big a role audio cues play in this game...not being able to hear my engine revs or cars coming up on the side of me get frustrating. Like I said, it happens on almost every track that I have tested and it is not random, it appears to always be happening in the same spot(s) of the tracks.

Before anyone asks, I have tried 3 different HDMI cables and another input on the back on my AVR and nothing has mitigated this issue. This leads me to believe it is either the game or the XB1 but I really wouldn't even know how to figure if it was the XB1.

I tried doing some searches on the interwebs but could really find anything so it appears this is not a wide spread issue or at least one that is not being voiced by the community. Anyone else noticing issues like this?
