Got this game right around the time Destiny came out and I have come back to this and forgot that this game is FUN and I find it better for ME than Destiny.

If the drudgery of the core play gets boring, try hardcore. It can be white knuckle terrifying. It makes the game even more fun!!

Is this game worth getting now? I LOVED Diablo 2 (played it through about 10 times with different characters), but when Diablo 3 came out I heard it had major problems so I passed. Any better?

Diablo 3 PC launch was a mess. Right around the time they made the 360/PS3 ports they fixed the game a lot and the Ultimate Edition with the Expansion included is even better.

Lots of FUN!

They implemented it very well into a console game.

That said, the PC version has limited duped or hacked items. The console versions... not so much. especially core mode multiplayer. Still fun but even in torment 6 difficulty, one can be unkillable.

Hardcore is similar to PC with the occasional hacker. I don't mind duping and a couple of friends and I play a lot. Hardcore if you remember basically limits you to one death and you lose the character. There is a way around that but you have to unplug the xbox and it works about 60-70% of the time.

Another vote for the console version of Diablo 3. I skipped the PC launch and waited 'till it was reasonably patched, but the console version is an improvement on that. It's impressive how well Blizzard got this game to the consoles.

Get it.

Yeah, I think so. If you like Diablos and don't mind switching from mouse/KB to gamepad, the console version of D3 is very solid.

Coming from mouse/KB, navigating the menus on the controller was slightly cumbersome and initially frustrating for me. But it becomes old hat once muscle memory kicks in. And if you like console dungeon crawls (I love 'em), the added dodge ability with the right stick is a great console addition that the PC version doesn't have.

We should get the 2.2.1 patch sometime after the 5th of April. PC Season 3 starts April 10th so I hope we are patched by then.

This game is half price this week in the Deals with Gold discounts. I haven't played it since probably September. I need to get back into it. So much fun.

If anyone still has this game, I highly suggest you think about digging it back out. Their latest patch (2.4) is truly amazing. To get the full benefit you have to have reaper of souls. But man, it is like a whole new game. they added entire new areas to explore, new maps, new creatures, new items, redid a lot of the game mechnics. Really impressed with all the changes, it it was completely free. The new island in the forest is really impressive and then there is the new barbarian area too. Impressive changes for just a patch.

Was Diablo 3 re-mastered for xbox One compared to the 360 version (kinda like Borderlands II was)?

Reason I ask: I have the 360 version (minus Reaper of Souls). But I upgraded my box to the One last Fall. I'm wondering if it is worth re-buying Diablo 3 for xbox One (with Reaper of Souls), or just waiting/hoping my 360 version becomes backwards compatible on the One. If the graphics were re-mastered it would make the decision easier.

Thanks for any opinions.

Ok, found this that says graphics were improved, but minimally:

http://www.examiner.com/review/diabl...-a-steep-price

Still, would be interested in any opinions whether the Reaper of Souls extension is worth a re-buy on the ONE. Or if anyone has heard whether the 360 version will become backwards compatible.

Kicking myself: Saw from the Deals thread this game was on sale for $20 back in Nov 2015. Rats!

Wish there was an upgrade price for those going to the new gen version, rather than the full $60.

If it were me, I would double dip. In fact I have - I have bought this game on PC, PS4 and Xbox One. So I might not be the best judge of how to spend money. (EDIT: I did wait for it to go on sale for the XB1.) But the Reaper of Souls is worth the upgrade alone IMO, and the XB1 does look better.

This might give you a good idea. Keep i mind that was written well over a year ago, and Diablo 3 has had some great patches (1080p) and upgrades since then.

The game is a lot nicer on the One than the 360. Sharper, some better effects, and better framerate. You will notice it more if you have a full party playing together. But content-wise it's a big step up.

It will never be backwards compatible as it is available on the Xbox one already, they will never spend the time and effort to make a game from the 360 backwards compatible if you can already buy the exact same game on the One.

Game is far superior on the One. I own both. Graphics are better (better than minimal as your article states). Better frame rate, better distance, etc. etc. Well worth it.

Plus... it's Diablo 3! This is a game I can put aside for months, then create a new character and run through the story and adventure modes all over again. Doesn't seem to get old.

All the pros being out there, I'll also say that I've had framerate issues since the last update was rolled out. It's not game breaking, but it happens quite a bit on my system.
Also I wouldn't ever pay the full $60 for the game at this point. Every major sale seems to include this game for a massive discount, so don't rush out and buy it for anything more than $30 with all these sales going on.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone. I bought it last night from Gamestop for $40. Would have preferred a digital download, but not for $60.

Starting out with a crusader since that is the new class. Adventure mode looks interesting, though I need to get through Act V to unlock it.

I also picked up the Infernal Pauldrons. +62 life per second makes me almost invincible this early in the game. Might actually un-equipe them for more of a challenge.

Didn't bother linking a battle.net account to my MS account. Though I understand you get some loot for doing that.
