The game is coming to the Xbox 360 on Sept 3rd. There has been no confirmation of a Xbox One port.
Quote:
The game will launch in "the U.S., Canada, Spanish-speaking Latin America, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand" on Sept. 3, while further launch details — like the title's localization in South Korea — will be announced at a later date. Both versions of the title will net pre-orderers the "Infernal Helm" in-game item which boosts player's experience point gains.

Sweet. I have really been wanting to check diablo 3 out, and I had planned on getting it on my ps3. But since I prefer my 360, this will be something I check out. September is already starting to look expensive with this and GTA.

I'm not sure how successful these D3 ports are going to be, the PC launch was pretty bad and the game itself wasn't that good, so I hope the console version doesn't have the same issues.

I don't know that you could say that it "wasn't really good." The game is run of the mill Diablo, nothing more or less. It definitely delivered on that front. I have serious doubts, however, about playability on the console. It's a game that really needs a mouse. /shrug

The original torchlight ran great on the 360, so I am guessing that Diablo 3 could run just fine if they put in the time on it.

I wish these console ports came a lot closer to game launch. I don't know if I would buy it again for full price. I will wait for a sale..

I'm sure it will run just fine from a frame rate standpoint. What I mean is that, ergonomically, it would play better with a mouse and keyboard. I haven't played Torchlight on the 360 so I won't rule out the possibility of the experience being positive, but my knee jerk instinct is that it is going to be mediocre compared to the PC.

I think it'll work really, really well with a gamepad. They're going to have to modify some targeted abilities since there's no pointer, but overall, I think the base gameplay is going to transfer nicely based on what they've already shown. Torchlight on 360 definitely worked great, it felt a lot more natural and direct with the gamepad.

Count me in.

According to their web site, the game was re-developed for the console and not just a port.

I think I am going to get this on gamefly so I can play it for a while before I spend the money on buying it new. I want to see if it will hold my attention at all, especially with GTA coming out just a couple weeks later.

Hit the stores today.

If I compare this to the PC this review is totally different. So I will stick with just the 360 version. The graphics are sub par at times with some kind of palette applied over everything that mutes everything you see and makes it muddy. There are areas that shine, particularly in dungeons, but that is rare. There is no way to zoom in on your character to see the effect of the items you are equipping. You can see them on your screen, but they are so small and muddied by the graphics that one sword pretty much looks like another sword, but you can convince yourself they look different if you squint. I am playing on a very large TV 70" and everything is still pretty small on the screen, even the font. Followers follow you WAY to closely, at times standing so close they are in your same space and will confuse you of who you are controlling.

Highlights, spells are VERY impressive in there graphics and effects and every spell has multiple runes you put into it and every rune changes how the spell looks. Voice acting is top notch, story is great, item loot drop is insanely good and constantly better.

Once you get pass the sub par graphics, the game is pretty solid and really addictive and highly recommended.

Highly addictive, wow, can't stop playing it. More addictive then the PC, I think because the loot system is completely different and geared towards the character you are using.

Yeah, I noticed you get a LOT less loot than in PC.  I'm already in the cathedral and my barb isnt even fully clothed. I think they made the best console version they could possibly have made, but I'm not sure it eclipses the PC version.  The hit detection seems a little wonky.

I had to travel to birmingham Al last week so I picked this game up to play on my down time (I have strong feelings against HBO as I tend to live in hotels biggrin.gif )

I think the graphics are better than D2 as I remember it. maybe not as good as some others but it definitely looks good to me/us. I was able to try out three types of character classes I now have a L22 Wizard, a L14 demon hunter and a L12 Barbarian. The helmet from Best Buy had helped greatly in leveling my characters.

Anyway, I have played by myself and with groups. I don't mind the controls and the game seems fairly well balanced to me without one character type being an absolute unkillable monster.

So now we have two more copies and my wife and two kids are now playing as well. This should take us to the new console and Ghost launch.smile.gif

I notice this game is rated M for bloody gore and violence. Is it really that gory? I mean, it is basically cartoon violence right?

Reason I ask, was thinking of buying this game and playing co-op with my son, who is 8. Do you folks who have played the game think this is OK?

When I look at video clips of the game in action I see no problem with this. But the M rating has me concerned. Are there cut scenes of decapitations or something? Torture? Profanity? Sexual themes? You are just killing demons, right? Why the M rating?

Thanks.

If you've seen a video, you know what to expect. It's not GTA, but it's a whole lot of killing. And one of the demons in act 3 has boobies on full display.

Did you ever play diablo? Or diablo2? There was some demon women that showed frontal upper nudity. Other than that the violence is pretty tame and exactly as you suspected. Both of my kids play it. They are 11 and 12.

Thanks guys. Never played the first 2 Diablos. I may have to play it alone first to screen it. But I'm not really interested in playing without my son, so could be a waste of $60. The demon with the boobies might be a deal breaker.

I assume you have gold. If you do pull up the Twitch TV app when your son is not around and look in the games section. There is usually someone streaming the PC version at anytime day or night.

You do not see the demon's boobs. They are just wearing something that pushes them up and such. Just big breasted basically. There is no full nudity. Violence is excatly as you see in the video play throughs. There are some scenes of decapitations during battle, but since you can't zoom in and are usually killing a dozen creatures with screen wide spell effects and such, you can't really tell it just happened and the body dissapears soon.

this game is a lot of fun! I had no clue about the micromanaging but my brothers were studs in Diablo on the PC so they basically said, "junk this, keep that". We had a lot of fun. Some things they liked more on the 360, others more on the PC. They made lots of comments on how weapons and other things were modified which they said was probably due to feedback to the PC version (like some weapons were too powerful on the PC and nerfed on the console version). They're also wondering if some of the console features will be rolled into the PC version as it'd be unfair for the PC version to not have them.

I heard that no, the PC will not be getting the consoie changes except for their proposed changes in loot drop. The console changes were made specifically because of the console architecture and controller layout and the different audience playing the game.

So I take it this game is worth the bucks? I've played all the other Diablo series and love them all but I didn't really want to pay for another subscription for the PC version (Blizzard get's enough of my money from WoW and all the pets/mounts I buy biggrin.gif ) but I would go for the console one if it's good.

I act my age sometimes. Sometimes ;). Crap I say

I would say yes. Been having blast playing this with the girlfriend. Very few console games that she and I can just sit on couch and play together that she likes but she likes this one.

Its simple but a blast to play and oddly addicting.
