This is the guy I have been following for a couple years for Battlefield games. His videos are basically educational based videos on how to play the game.

Also, I guess you XBox One guys should let us pc guys know if we can post here or if we need to create a separate thread.

Nothing about Titanfall has screamed "Next Gen" It looks like a fun game, but I have yet to see a reason to get it on Xbox One over the 360.

I fully expect the 360 version to be very comparable (probably 1024:600p like the Modern Warfare series was) with somewhat blurrier textures. The core gameplay and assets should be identical between all three versions.

My only complaint is that there is no offline mode. Right now I can't get proper high speed, and I have to settle for satellite internet. (Excede) That is 600ms of lag with a 10GB monthly cap. (Unlimited use from midnight to 5am is why I chose it) So for now the game is a no go for me.

That is definitely the truth! I fired up Bioshock Infinite after having played BF4 and Killzone. My god is it ugly and a huge difference in how it isn't smooth compared to those two.

Even The Last of Us fails to even come close to holding up, and that was one of the best looking games last gen. I honestly didn't expect last gen to age as badly as it did, games that were impressing me just 6 months ago now look outdated. Tomb Raider really drilled that point home, going from 720p sub 30fps to 1080p variable 60fps... it made me wish I had gone PC three years ago. Needless to say, the bar for impressing me has gone way up.

It's hard to go back to last gen once you've made the jump (whether PC or next gen console). But there's so many people who haven't made that jump yet, and unless titanfall is meaningfully better on x1, it's hardly going to be a system seller. With BF4 you had a doubling of the frame rate and player count, and vastly improved graphics from hardware suited to take advantage of the frostbite engine...it's a huge leap. The TF player count is already low, the frame rate is already high, and being based on source engine and not having shown any high end stuff like destructibility in all the demo....the x1 version will be a littler sharper/smoother, maybe some better lighting. It's not the kind of stuff that makes you want to run out and buy a new console. I mean, we've heard time and time again how resolution supposedly doesn't matter. And unless all of your friends bought an Xbox one already, there may even be a lot of people that opt for the last gen version just to play with friends.

Now that I think about it, have they mentioned anything about cross-buy/next gen upgrades like they did with all those other games this holiday?

I guess we won't know until March if TF will be a system-seller, but based on pre-orders it appears the demand for the X1 version of TF exceeds the 360/PC versions by a considerable margin. X1 pre-orders outnumber PC/360 (combined) by a 2:1 margin. I know that if I was a 360 owner looking for a reason to upgrade, I likely would have done so for TF.

There is probably about 6 on my friends list that are buying a One when Titanfall drops so it may be a small system seller. This early in its life, that is probably not bad. It will be interesting if the One version outsells the PC/360 versions. If so, it will not be a big moneymaker as I don't see every One owner going out to buy it. If it had a good single player campaign, then it may have helped out. But just about everyone I know that games is asking about it. While I expect a very good game, its always possible the hype may prove to be too much. I am buying it for the One as I get $25 off. So no brainer for me. My problem is while I liked the Call of Duty games, if they didn't include a single player campaign, I doubt I would have bought them. I enjoy the multiplayer aspect, but I am not very good compared to others. I also like to chat during the games but don't like the way some people act and talk. Sucks the life right out of the games.

Well, at least my GPU isnt actually dead...just had some bizarre bug in MSI afterburner that set my core and memory clocks to +1000mhz overclocks.

Should we take bets on how quickly the servers overload? I'm secretly hoping they don't work at all on v-day so I'm not missing the party.  :p

To be honest, looks a little more underwhelming by the day. I hope I am wrong, I want to be wrong. It really is easily COD Robotzzzz

I've watched Sesslers vid and quite a few streams on Twitch and it just not whetting my appetite.

Ugh, please let me in the beta so that I can decide...

Hopefully the fun is in the gameplay with whatever tweaks are provided in the final version. The twitch streams are extremely boring.

I wish the beta started today. With the snow expected in the DC area I know I won't be going to work tomorrow. I'm hoping it will be enough to close things down on Friday too.

@mikeloxlong

I always felt the hype was manufactured, and I was hoping that a few of the guys I follow on youtube would offer honest opinions, but one of them was busted as part of the Battlefield payoff and the other is no longer big enough to be reported on. (Based on his treatment by EA, I suspect he took their deal as well)

Now the only people I will trust are a few people on AVS and Neogaf (simply because they ban all astroturfers) Sadly, any glowing feedback will have to be questioned thanks to all the payoffs, but I will be looking for genuine feedback since this is from one of my favorite devs last gen.

Been watching Drift0r's vids on YouTube and I have to say this game looks amazing. It really reminds me of what might happen if you crossed halo and mw2-- and I mean that as a compliment. I don't think this is going to revolutionize the genre or anything but it looks like a fast, fun, tactical FPS with a lot of legs.

Unfortunately I won't be joining the beta. No Xbone and, besides, valentine's day? Really, respawn? After V-day I'm off to New York for a couple days to help my cousin move and then I'm on vaca for the remainder of the week.

I did just order a new PC: i7 4th gen with 12mb of DDR3 and a GT 635 graphics card. I purchase it more for media/work than gaming but hopefully it will have enough juice to run titanfall. I'll also be picking it up for 360 to play with friends.

Never said I would just go along with negative feedback, but with both EA and Microsoft being busted paying people to talk up their games illegally, how can I trust glowing feedback?

I am really hoping Angry Joe gets in the beta, he is one of the few youtube personalities I still trust.

Watching some of the eurogamer 60fps video...the frame drops are pretty significant in some of those titan battles. Doesnt look like it goes below 30, but there is a definite loss of fluidity.  They prob should have just left it at 720p.

I think the resolution bump was just to get away from all the Xbox 720p jokes and the constant rumors that Titanfall would be 720p. It seems to have hurt the framerate and reports of screen tearing may also be linked to the bump. Hopefully they iron it all out by launch.

Yeah, there's definitely a good amount of tearing too. I expected it to look better, outside of some minor effects like smoke it seriously does look like a slightly higher res 360 game. But there's a good amount of characters on screen with the grunts everywhere, and it's really spread out, so that might pose some performance issues on last gen. The art style is decent if a little bland and it looks good overall, but honestly though cod ghosts looks technically superior.

Screen tearing is my biggest taboo in games. I can look past everything else, low resolution, poor framerate, sub par textures... I can still enjoy it if the core gameplay is fun. Add in screen tearing and it just wrecks my immersion and enjoyment of the game.

Vsync is the primary reason I would usually choose PS3 multiplats, for some reason it was always the one factor that separated the two consoles. 360 had a higher framerate but tore frames, PS3 was lower but always vsync'd. Just look at Dragon's Dogma as the perfect example of this trend. (And one of my favorite games of the last generation)

Wasn't this one of the games that needs the cloud to run?

Also, how are the A.I. Characters? How many of them populate the map and how do they affect the game?

Some of my favorite games have tearing, not a huge deal to me. It is still a beta as well. Kingdoms of Amular is a game that had a large difference in smoothness from demo to final game.

They seem basically like creeps in a MOBA.  Completely non threatening cannon fodder that you have to chew through to get your titan quicker.  One of the videos there was a pack of six rolling right on him, and he casually threw a nade into the group and popped five of them. The score went to 250, and he got 1 point for killing each AI and 4 points for killing a real player...and there seems to be about a 4-5:1 ratio of AI to players. There's nowhere to hide, there's something to shoot around every corner.

It looks like they took every good idea from a fps in the past 20 years and crammed it in the game. It looks like some crazy hybrid of COD, unreal tournament, quake 3, quake wars, tribes, battlefield 2142, hawken....and DOTA. Looks like it has a nice flow though...first minute is a lot of AI killing, then the players start mixing the next minute, then the titans all fall around the same time and it turns into full on mechwarrior....then after that it just seems like chaos.

Looks fun as hell, can't wait to play it!
