Well said. Very much a major undertaking no doubt. I hope we can see them pull it off this gen eventually, despite all of the challenges but totally agree with you. Not being able to carry over my existing investment and music library would be a deal breaker.
In a perfect world we would get great next gen features, like remote band play, real venues (drop the cartoon sequences), true HD-Audio, and new high quality instruments (money no object, no mass market crap), and full transfers of old licenses.
Most importantly... there would be a focus on re- imaging the most important moments in music history, forefront in my mind:
Vintage Grateful Dead starting out it San Francisco and the later evolution to a lifetime of epic Stadium shows (this could be a massive series devoted just to these guys; DarkStar anyone?), DMB, Phish, etc. live a Red Rocks, Doors in Miami (indecent exposure incident), Hendrix under daylight at the tail end of Woodstock, the list is endless.... but not forgetting Zed Zeppelin and Pink Floyd stand alone games. Throw in some Stones at Altamont, plus Bob Marley & Sublime anything for icing on the cake.
This is not unheard of. Beatles RB pulled off some amazing set pieces.
I'm in. Let's make it happen!
