Should pin #6 be Yellow. You have the purple wire listed twice? I'm just looking at the picture that someone provided back on page 1.

I'm also in the same boat with a front projection system. I am able to put the Kinect in the corner of the room for voice commands and such but am looking forward to an extension.

I have another question though. Is there a setting I can put the Kinect on to see me in a completely dark room? I obviously don't want the lights on with a front projection system.

I contacted Microsoft about this....AGAIN, they said that I was not the only one looking for this and they have gotten a lot of requests for this. Still nothing from Monoprice as I contacted them yesterday.

My Kinect is still sitting in my Day one box. It's bad enough that I had to get a scaler to use my Xbox one on my 1080i tv, now I cant even use my Kinect... Great Job MS...

Did MS actually think 9' was long enough for everyone ?

Yes they did for the majority of the users that use the system. Why would MS pack a Kinect with a 20 foot cable inside that majority wouldn't use? When third party company makes the cable it will be available.

Not that I diagree with you here but, this discussion is more about HOW TO EXEND IT, not if Microsoft should of included a 20' cable in the box.

No Microsoft SHOULD not of included a cable in the box that went 20' as most people would not need it BUT, they should of had cables available on release day, so people in the need could buy them.

This is what I see an issue with. Even the first Kinect had ext cables available on release (or at least a week later).

Here we are 15-20 days after release and not even a solid rumor on a cable, never mind a release of one...

My guess it had more to do with the lead up time from the reveal being only 6 months ago vs an existing console that had the Kinect added on and a year reveal before it was released.

Lets not get too crazy, were only 11 days after launch. But totally agree, there should be an extension cable out by now.

Or better yet, offer two bundles one without the kinect. Its doing no good sitting in the box.

If you haven't used it yet, i don't think you can comment on "They should have made a bundle without kinect". Theres a pretty damn good reason it was included in the system, because it's essential to the experience and functionality of the system. It's an amazing device, you should try it out.

So, got in contact with Monoprice.com customer support. They directed me to their Customer Product Suggestion List. So i made a post there. Everyone go vote for it to get it noticed:

Support said this is the best way to get a product added to their catalog.

Thats my point. I cannot try it because my media closet is 30' away from my TV. And yes, if they would have made a bundle without the kinect I would have purchased it. Obviously you have your Xbox close to your TV. Don't speak for the rest of us who need an extension cable hence the title of thread.

Yeah, the title of the thread is why im here........notice my post above contacting monoprice? My system is 50' away from my tv. However, ive chosen to place the xb1 in the front room to try out kinect. Guess what, it's benefits out weigh the ability to pipe it through my avr at this time. So yeah, i will speak for everyone else since im in the same boat as you. Try out kinect before you make comments about it.

My comment was they should have offered a bundle without the kinect. I never said anything about the kinect not working. And putting the Xbox close to my TV is not an option. The only way is via extension cable. So, my comment is related to the thread in regards to an extension cable, not the functionality of the kinect. I think we should all contact Monoprice and maybe they will design a cable sooner rather than later.

If there was an bundle without the kinect, I would have purchased it knowing the standard cable will be useless to me.

I also gave it 3 votes as well as followed them on Twitter now for their answer. Personally I don't really care for the Kinect, but it would still be nice to set it up since we did have to pay for it.

Hi All,

I've got the exactly the same problem frown.gif

I have the problem that my media systems are all housed centrally in the house under the stairs with TVs in every room and CAT6A spidering out from the media cabinet. With the Kinect 1.0 I was easily able to build a custom extension cable which consisted of a home made balun (converted USB2.0 to CAT6A and boosted the signal) and 50m of CAT6A.

I can't go tearing apart my Son's Christmas present to develop and extension and after what I have read attempts to cut the cables and reconnect have rendered the Kinect useless.

Therefore I have set up a Kickstarter project (I'll post the link once its been approved) to develop a guide to extending the cable. Hell, if it gets interest I may even extend the kickstarter to producing an extender. Hopefully this will raise enough funds to buy an experimental system that I can tear apart and investigate. For instance we first need to dismantle the Xbox One's Kinect terminal and look at what the data and power is doing. Next we need to try and find a way of boosting the data and protecting against interference over longer distances.

I'll post the Kickstarter once I have it active.

Hopefully nobody gives to that kickstarter. I feel like that will just be a way for him to snag a system. Monoprice has said early next year. USBfirewire.com has a team working on it. Someone is going to get it going for us. No reason to waste money on a "donor system" for something that will be done professionally soon.

I have to agree with you.

I tore into my kinect was unsuccessful and was able to just solder it back together and it's working fine. There is absolutely no reason to buy an entire system to experiment. There is no risk in screwing up the kinect or xbox one if you know what your doing.

I have to agree as well. Even if the intentions are good here, it's unnecessary. Monoprice projects they're have one ready as early as 1st quarter of next year.

Gary, why take it to kickstarter? If you're going to be doing a guide (and hopefully you manage to do it) post it to instructibles
