From Xbox Wire:
Quote:
Since its launch 18 days ago, Xbox One is proving to be the must-have gift this holiday season with more than 2 million consoles sold through to consumers worldwide, averaging over 111,111 units sold per day – a record-setting pace for Xbox. Millions of fans around the world who have purchased Xbox One have shown incredible engagement with the all-in-one games and entertainment system, spending over 83 million hours in games, TV, and apps on Xbox One since the system launched on Nov. 22.

“We continue to be humbled and overwhelmed by the positive response from our fans. We are thrilled to see sales of Xbox One on a record-setting pace, with over 2 million Xbox One consoles in homes around the world. Demand is exceeding supply in our 13 launch markets and Xbox One is sold out at most retailers. We’re also particularly excited to see consumers engaging in a wide range of games and entertainment experiences on the platform, with more than 1 million paid transactions* on Xbox Live to date,” said Yusuf Mehdi, corporate vice president of strategy and marketing, Xbox.

Xbox One is also proving to be the most popular online multiplayer community for gamers with over 39 million Xbox One achievements unlocked and 595 million total Gamerscore achieved.

“Demand for next generation gaming continues to be very strong,” said John Love, director of video games at Amazon. “At peak demand, customers were ordering the Xbox One console at over 1000 units per minute on Amazon.com.”

“The Xbox One entertainment system is one of our hottest selling products this holiday season,” said Bob Puzon, senior vice president of Merchandising at GameStop. “GameStop is experiencing high demand from our customers for this innovative console and we are working closely with Microsoft to receive more units to fulfill our customers’ holiday shopping lists.”

“Xbox One is one of the hottest Christmas gifts this holiday season and was a top seller this Black Friday,” said Chris Nagelson, vice president of entertainment for Walmart U.S. “We are refreshing our inventory as fast as we can to ensure customers can give and receive the new console for Christmas.”

The Xbox team is continuing to work hard to meet consumer demand, delivering consoles to retailers as fast as possible this holiday season. To help people find Xbox One, Major Nelson recently shared some tips for consumers this holiday season.

Looks like both consoles that were just released are doing well!

We knew they were both doing well. It sounds like they waited until they hit two million in sales to release sales data. Which was pretty much expected.

I know I have been enjoying my XBOne to the point that now I'm not even sure when I'll pick up a PS4. AT this point I would get more use from a second XBOne than a PS4. So unless some special deal happens I'll keep playing my XBOne for now. Now I just hope they have another special trade in for the 360. I can't bring myself to turn the 360 on with the XBOne sitting there.

Since the PS3 and the xbox360, game consoles became more and more popular in homes. It’s a must have electronic for any home. It’s like having a toaster. You have it but don’t use it everyday. Both consoles will do well it’s a matter of which one is the right one for you.

Which is why we bought 3 of them. We have the 360s and the only reason they get used since having the the new systems is to use HBO Go. Don't know what is going to happen after it is released for the One.

100% agreed.

Which is why I just bought both on their respective launch days. $900 spent on electronic entertainment devices that should have 5 year life span.

I have no doubt they will both pay for themselves plenty times over in the next few years to come.

I am the same way. I know there will be games that I would like to check out on the ps4, but the One is so awesome that I just don't feel the need to get one. I may end up waiting a year or two and let the price drop a bit before I pick one up.

I'm sure I'll eventually get a PS4, but I would much rather have a second Xbox One right now. Being able to buy a single digital copy and then play multiplayer with friends/family that are visiting would be great. Plus I want to be able to game on my monitor when my wife's watching TV/Netflix/etc.

Agree that it is about choosing the console that is right for you. That said, consoles are not quite as ubiquitous as toasters. Perhaps one day, but we are nowhere near that day yet.

Bread on top of console...Xbox...Toaster On! Yikes guys. Stop with the toaster comparisons. Before Microsoft thinks that's a great idea. Start a dominate the kitchen strategy. And build the feature into Xbox One version 1.2 eek.gif

I remember, my white 20gb xbox360 got so hot, it could infact toast bread. So yeah, MS did that already.
