I felt that this necessitated its own thread... it is MLB opening day... Go Rays!

So it appears that the MLB.TV application is limited to subscriptions only now that Spring Training is over.

That makes sense but the application seems to have no other features such as highlights, stats, favorite teams, etc. Bottom line, you can launch and snap the application but its totally useless. I expected real time score updates at minimum.

Am I missing something?

BTW, I pay for cable to watch the home teams almost daily (I could never cut the cord). Any discussion otherwise is just crazy talk. biggrin.gif

The application is a piss poor attempt at MLB again this year. Numerous buffering/streaming issues today on opening day. They had 4 months to test/beta this app, but they release it and let us beta test it. It is stripped down from last year. From what I've heard, they will be adding features in April, but until then you are stuck with a basic app, only watching 1 game at a time, with buffering issues.

Thanks bodean. Agreed - it sucks.

Buffering issues for subscribers already? in the middle of the day? Ouch.

I guess I was expecting something comparable to the NFL app. Real time score updates in "snap" mode at minimum. I love baseball but its not the quickest game to adapt to new technology. Its part of the charm and frustration at the same time but the MLB Network is all over the coverage already.... all they need to do is tap into that.

Ok, I'll bite... biggrin.gif

Rays = 2014 AL East Champions!

It (the actual creature or "sun" rays to highlight the always sunny nature of the area) is also considered a local and well respected inhabitant. When a 20 foot wide Ray swims under your boat, or your legs, Around here, they demand all the respect in the world! They are a pain in the aS$ to catch and release though.

LMAO!

I thought it was the team where the only thing that changes more than it's name is it's uniform wink.gif
Or the one where the angels in the catwalks catch as many fly balls as the outfielders.

I'll be here all week, I got a million of them.
lol

Nice Total!!

Tampa 9 / Toronto 2....game still in progress. New uniforms were the key to a turnaround.

Just like the Bucs in the early 90's. And again this upcoming year.... we'll see.

We're off to an ok start despite the confusion.... sun rays, devil rays, what???? smile.gif

Been there since game one...

Not only that, it appears to be heavily based on the Windows 8 app, which was released last year and remains just as terrible as this one (never been updated).

They're doing better than these bums did up here today. Hopefully my squad can come out the box strong tomorrow BUT I gotta say I have some doubts.

I was gonna hit you with:
"Isn't that the farm team for the rest of the MLB" or "Isn't that the place where old Yankee fans retire to watch games on the cheap" but I figure I better not make any enemies here wink.gif lol
I think Tampa might do something again. I don't know why I'm thinking that but I just do.

Those fans only show up when the weather is nice here vs. there but we thank them immensely for paying our taxes! biggrin.gif

It should be one hell of a year in the NL East... as usual....

I only checked out the app briefly last evening, but it was pretty pathetic. And we are paying how much per year ($120, $130, whatever it is now) for this lame attempt?

PS - GoNats!

Xbox/PS/WiiU gamertag: GoNats
Apple Game Center: iGoNats

Two weeks into the season, no update to the app yet. Just a stripped down POS. Make sure you let them know on twitter, @MLBFanSupport and their forums http://www.forums.mlb.com/

There's an update today. I noticed it simplifies the voice commands. Instead of having to say the entire channel name, it just tells you to say "Option 1" or "Option 2". I'll have to see later tonight how it handles a live game.

Edit: I've watched 5 1/2 innings of a game so far, no buffering issues yet. Seems to be a pretty big improvement in that sense (usually, every two or three innings, it starts skipping around like crazy).
