I came away really impressed with the depth of games they showed in the conference. They had games for almost everyone that hit the gambit of remakes, new ip, strong third party support, and most importantly games that look fun to play.

The other thing I caught was the Crackdown demo seemed to show off the same tech they showed off at BUILD with the destructible buildings.

Yep...good show overall. I'm surprised how opposite the Sony conference was. More than half was for things other than games and way too much chatting from the suits...snoozefest.

I was disappointed with the Xbox e3. We all know it's a game console so we are getting new games of course. I would of loved more features being annouced to the Xbox to become the all in one media device.

Maybe they need to fix the media issues promised, and that don't work. (TV for many of us...DLNA, anyone?)

Phantom Dust sounds cool as hell. More interesting than anything at the Sony conference aside from TLoU (haven't played it yet) and Uncharted 4 (which was a no brainer)

I would love some Dlna that supported playback of media center files. Or just make xbox one a media center playback device.

Agreed...Why did we "go back in time" on a NEW device to "control our living room" (as they profess to be...)

I just spent some time perusing, and voting over at the new Feedback site...problem is, with the unwashed masses...(nobody reads anything anymore.) there are too many separate threads about DLNA, and Media Center support.

Because to Microsoft (and most other device/entertainment companies) local file playback, media center, and dlna *is* going back in time. They want you to use online services for all your media consumption. Can't stream an audio file from your media server to your device? Well of course not, you're supposed to be listening to that using Xbox Music service instead.

I missed the release dates of The Division and Star Wars...anyone? Regardless, it's nice to be really looking forward to some new games. Haven't felt that way in awhile.

http://www.polygon.com/2014/6/13/580...ws-games-to-e3

Microsoft didn't really hold a press conference this week during E3, Xbox did.

While the company hosted the press conference, we didn't hear a thing about games for Windows phone or Windows PC gaming, a fact that wasn't missed by Xbox head Phil Spencer.

"I'm head of gaming at Microsoft," Spencer said. "When we're doing gaming strategy, gaming focus inside the company, that's my job. I think in a lot of ways, you could argue gaming on Windows has never been more healthy in that the biggest of the big franchises, League of Legends, World of Tanks, those things dwarf a lot of what we're doing in this console space in terms of users and monetization. They're all on PC."

But that doesn't mean they're necessarily a good fit for E3, he said.

"E3's a retail show," he said. "It's a retail show, it's a console show, so it didn't really feel like the right place for us to talk about Windows, but Windows and gaming on Windows is critical to Microsoft's success."

If E3 isn't the right place, I asked, then what is?

"Well they do these huge world championship events and they fill up arenas," he said. "I do think there could be a space there.

"For us, E3 is a console show and an Xbox show, and for us as Microsoft, Xbox is our gaming brand, and it's the thing we can fill an arena like this, we get millions of people to watch us on TV and we show our games and it's a brand that people care about."

The 5.0 is here

Why don't Microsoft and Sony follow UbiSoft's example and have a professional entertainer host their conference instead of executives? It's actually hard for me to watch Microsoft and Sony executives...their pacing is awkward. I don't know if it's the teleprompter or if they're pausing for applause that never happens...it's just awkward.

The past 3 years, UbiSoft has had the best E3 presentation...I'm sure Microsoft and Sony could $persuade$ a comedian, talk show host, radio personality, SOMEBODY/ANYBODY to do their E3 shows.

They are all just trying o channel their inner Steve Jobs...who pioneered that style of presentation. But he was charismatic and talented enough to pull it off. Steve Ballmer used to be the worst to me. He just looked like a fat version of Blofeld, without the cat, from James Bond yore...stomping around the stage.

Because everyone makes fun of ubisoft's show for that reason. Some of their "entertainers" that they have had host were worse than that terrible Wonderbook or Powers showing Sony has done.

I've only caught the last 3 Ubisoft E3 presentations and they were ALL better than the rest. Sure, I've read comments that some people don't like Aisha Tyler for whatever reason, but she's MUCH better as a host in comparison to Sony and Microsoft executives. She's more of a "natural" on stage. I don't know who came before her, but now I might look up those old presentations to see why they were made fun of.
