Download Speeds: XBOX One vs XBOX 360

I have a weird question and I'm hoping someone can give me a theory or two as to why this is happening.

I have Charter as my ISP with 100 meg download speed.

I use an 8 port netgear switch box to run my ethernet cables to all my gaming systems.

Using testmy.net last night here are my results:

XBOX One: 50-70 meg
XBOX 360: 2 meg!
PS3: 10 meg
PS4: 25 meg

And I ran the test multiple times just to make sure.

I even swapped the ethernet cable running from the One and put it in the 360 but was still only getting 2 meg.

Any ideas what is going on here?

What about the speed test directly from the Xbox One and PS4? What is the speediest from a laptop or computer by Ethernet?

The 5.0 is here

Well I've never tried directly to the PS4 or XBOX One.

I did try avoiding the netgear switch and ran directly from the router however with no change in speed.

The computer downloads at 100 meg. I don't have a laptop. However, my iphone connects to my WI-FI at 50 meg speeds.

Unless you have a native speed test app on each platform, you are basically testing the speed of the browsers on each platform, isn't it? Xbox 360 only has a 100mbps Ethernet port to begin with. But I have no problem stream video or live TVs that are 15 to 30mbps bitrates on my LAN.

If your computer is getting 100 then your getting your speeds you are paying for. The various results from your devices are expected to get the same speed results. Two identical devices don't normally give the same speed results.

The 5.0 is here

Never did a test but I did notice the 360 takes much longer to download a game (6-8gb) than the XB1 and the XB1 games are bigger! Must just be able to process faster.

The xbox 360 is slower by far but if you go to console setting. Then select startup and shutdown and pick background downloads then set to enable it will download much faster after you shutdown your 360.

Totally unscientific but I've also noticed that 360 download speeds have dropped off dramatically over the past few months, so much so that I don't even bother downloading most of the 360 content that my Gold account gives me anymore unless its something I'm really interested in. I would suspect MS has cut back on their server farms for 360 content.

I'm no expert, but maybe its an IP based QoS issue?

360 download speeds must have slowed.

It took all night to download Tomb Raider last night (and it isn't that big a game, just under 6.5 GB).

I just downloaded Tomb Raider in a little over an hour, no speed issues here. Is it possible you guys started in peak hours?

I did run my test during prime time. So that could be a factor.
