Fallout 4 - Xbox One

Looks like Fallout 4 is confirmed, with IGN reporting that fallout4.com is now live, after a teaser countdown the past couple days.

Looking forward to this one- here's the official trailer:

I actually think it's a good bet it's coming this November...

Here's why....

Why would you have this huge press conference on the Sunday night prior to e3, to announce a game for 2016 ? They've already spilled the beans about Fallout 4 with this trailer. Now, everybody knows Fallout 4 is coming, and they all know what the actual game looks like... "kinda".

So, when you have this big press conference, you show off a guy playing through a side mission, showing off how amazing the game is overall, and then you announce the November 17, 2015 release date !!!

It's really the only way for the press conference to have enough significance as a news story. If the release date is announced at their press conference, that's big news. I think it's coming this November...

I want to be excited for this game, but after the mess that NV was at launch I'm going to think long and hard about picking it up right away versus waiting for a couple of patches to fix the major bugs that I'm expecting this game to ship with.

I expect the bugs but dammit if Bethesda does not deliver a solid engrossing game. I have lost so many hours on their other titles. Take my money.

Fallout is by far my favorite series of all time. Todd Howard makes the best games hands down. I loved 3 and NV both, bugs aside. And I had very few bad bugs in both. Hell, Witcher III has shown me more bugs than either F3 or NV.

COME ON 2015 RELEASE!

New Vegas was farmed out to developer Obsidian who, despite their reputation, had a pretty weak track record when it came to making games based on existing IP's and with existing technology. They had something of a history of dropping the ball on these types of games as they also were responsible for the buggy and generally unfinished feeling Knights of the Old Republic 2: The Sith Lords on the original Xbox. That game was riddled with bugs, had ridiculous load times (far worse than the original) and in trying to do too much just came across as feeling rushed. Sounds familiar doesn't it. New Vegas was further hampered by the boneheaded decision to not keep the gameworld open after beating the game, requiring the player to load a savegame prior to the final mission to play any of the DLC (a decision 180 degrees opposite to what what was eventually done on Fallout 3 after a patch).

Hopefully Bethesda learned from Obsidian's poor decisions; regardless, this will be a day one purchase for me as well as I sank endless hours into Fallout 3.

I remember playing one of the Fallout games on the 360 and enjoying it. I guess I will add this game to my growing list of titles to pick up later this year.

http://www.polygon.com/2015/7/2/8883...n-xbox-one-360

Xbox One owners who pre-order Fallout 4 through the Xbox Store now can get Fallout 3 free within 7-10 days, Bethesda's vice president of PR and marketing Pete Hines told Polygon this morning.

The free game offer isn't limited to Xbox Store pre-orders, but the timing is. To claim your free Fallout 3 copy, there are two scenarios, depending on where and when you pre-order Fallout 4.

  • Pre-order Fallout 4 as a download through the Xbox Store, and Microsoft will send you a code within 7-10 days to download The Xbox 360 version of Fallout 3. It will be playable immediately on that system and at an undetermined date when the game becomes backward compatible on Xbox One. "I don't know what the timeframe is as to when that will happen," Hines said.
  • Pre-order Fallout 4 at retail, and you'll receive the Fallout 3 download code when you pick up your physical copy of Fallout 4 on its Nov. 10 release.
It splits like this, Hines said, because you'll pay $59.99 upfront for Fallout 4 when you pre-order it through the Xbox Store, while you might not even have to put money down for a retail pre-order.

Hines said that he isn't sure how long the "limited time" Xbox offer will last, though he did explain the reasoning behind it.
"Basically it's meant to make sure folks know that this is not a 'forever and ever' thing," he said. "So that does mean there is a scenario where you could go into a store to pickup a copy of Fallout 4 post-launch and not get a copy of the game with the code. But I'm not sure how many copies will include it, or for how long. To be determined."

Hines also told Polygon that the offer is exclusive to Xbox and will not apply to other platforms like PlayStation and Steam.

Bethesda detailed Fallout 4 at its first E3 press conference. The next day at Microsoft's E3 2015 press conference, game director Todd Howard took the stage talk more about the game. As he was speaking, a video overlay appeared in the livestream. It read, as you can see below, "Xbox exclusive offer: Fallout 3 included with Fallout 4."

After watching some performance comparison videos for Fallout 4 I think this will have to be a PC purchase for me

The XB1 showed a lot of stuttering and drops to 13fps and even 0 in a few spots. PS4 did better but still showed some stuttering.

Pre-ordered today. I don't like gaming on my PC. I'll take my chances with the ONE version. I read a few reviews that said it isn't the smoothest but not unplayable or annoying really. I have faith in patches and improvements soon also. Todd Howard has earned my trust.

Most of the complaints are around the PS4 version of the game, probably paid for and sponsored by MS (drop in the bucket):

http://www.inquisitr.com/2551400/fal...e-rate-issues/

Problems like these are not entirely unexpected. Bethesda has a far from spotless history with the Playstation platform. Similar problems with the Playstation ports of Oblivion and Skyrim achieved a legendary level of notoriety among gamers, but many fans were hoping that these problems would be left behind with the last generation of consoles, as the hardware of the PS4 is much more similar to its Microsoft counterpart than its previous iterations. There is a widespread belief among gamers that, for Bethesda, Fallout 4 PS4 is viewed as a sort of poor cousin next to its Xbox One and PC versions. Many gamers are blaming Bethesda for simply not prioritizing Fallout 4 PS4 and are venting their anger online.[/I]
