If anyone here is enjoying the game as much as I am I'd like to invite you all to a fleet I've been with.
It's Federation and the the name is Sentinel. Watchout as there's a Sentinels, with an S, that's not us. We're Sentinel as spelled.
Very active members and some big-time contributors are in. And there's almost always someone online to help out with questions or missions.
Just say total ownership sent you. Or send me a PM on Live or here and I'll help get you in.
Come and have some fun.
Not sure how to join...I looked (and found) the group, but did not see "request invite" or anything like that. I don't play a ton, (especially after Gears and TF2) but have used this to pass the time while in between games. HUGE Trek fan.
Just checked back here to see you guys posts. Sorry for the delay. But sometimes things happen for a reason. In this case the fleet wasn't all it was cracked up to be. Let's just put it like that
SO, we started our own Fleet. With a nod to my Army days the Fleet is called "Black Knights".
If you want in let me know. I don't think I can send an invite through the game. I think I have to be standing in front of you to do so. I'll investigate that. Also, since we're allowed to have multiple characters in the game, I would know which character to send the invite to. In any case just let me know when you guys will be on to meet up and we can do it all at the starbase as long as we're in the same instance. This new Fleet is moving along pretty good I have to say. No power hungry , power trip people and all working together towards a common goal. We also have a Klingon fleet moving along also. I'm pretty much just on the Starfleet side but I do put my few minutes in on the Klingon side and throwing in my donations to get that side moving.

I have not touched the game in a long time. I played it on the PC and will give it a try on the console, when I get the next-gen model, later this year.

I'm interested in this. I've never played it before. Do you have to use real $$ to succeed or can it be done just using gameplay, albeit much slower progression?
Money will certainly help you. I only spent a little bit, initially, to get some currency to build on and I grinded my way up the levels until I couldn't go any further. Now, I can return to the game and do more leveling up, but for me to succeed at higher levels, I need to get currency to buy newer ships, weapons, power-ups, etc., since I am a solo player, which does not get you great winnings at the end of missions.

Yeah you can get through this game with no money out of pocket and actually get as high up as those who put cash in the game. HOWEVER it will take a serious grind to do so with the discipline of Job and a definitive gameplan. If you do spend actual cash I wouldn't buy ANYTHING until you've got as high as possible with the free stuff. It's then you can make wise choices with your money. The only thing you'd really have to spend money at the end , if you ask me, is a T6 ship. But you can get one of those without spending real money. If you were playing over the holiday season (around Christmas time) they had an event going where you could have picked up a free T6 ship.
Back when I did it, you couldn't earn money from anything except grinding through missions/pvp and collecting stuff on random planets. Half the game didn't work and 1/4th was shut down for retooling. Nobody had starbases or fleets or any real organized playing going on.
Much has changed since then. You can earn alot of EC in the exchange by being creative. Yes there is some grinding initially to get stuff to sell. But I know guys finding creative ways to make EC in-game. Our fleet is humming along. Although, as with most, a few our doing most of the donating which is sad and will be a shock to those who aren't donating when it comes time to buy the good stuff in the fleet. You need fleet credits to buy stuff in the fleet and the only way to earn fleet credits is to donate to the fleet. Makes our jobs as admins pretty easy.
Random Guy: "Hey I want to buy a Polaron Fleet Console but it won't let me"
Me:..check leaderboard then "Well according to the leaderboards you haven't donated enough to earn that amount of fleet credits for that item"
Random Guy: "I see, I guess I should donate more to the fleet" or "That's not fair. I want the item now. I donated"
Me: "Ok cool. Good luck and happy donating. Hope you get what you're after. Need help just let me know" or "Hey buddy the fleet is like life, you get out what you put in"
Anyone still playing this? I've been playing the single player missions for the past month. Looking to start doing more. Gamertag is the same as here.
