What about the morons who bought an Xbox in 2001 when they could've waited and got the Xbox 360 for about the same price in 2005? Idiots.

Man does these mean my PONG console is not going to give me 1080p on my new plasma with out a HDMI 1.3 connection with true Loss less sound.

You cant beat PONG in surround sound.

You're an idiot for buying that Pong machine when the Xbox 360 v2 was only 25 years away.

i see...this is a free post thread. hmmm.... i don't mind m$ updating their console at all, even though i just bought mine. but somehow i just hate the 'secrecy' of it all. i know it had to be kept under wraps, even if only to sell out old stock, but still....it irks me.

Personally, i think it sucks! But i dont really care about HDMI vs. Component at this point. Ill wait till i get a 1080p set which will be about 6 years from now ha ha ha. So it sucks but oh well. MS should have done it right the 1st time but then the 360 would be the same price as the ps3. MS says theyre giving consumers options, I applaude them for that, but dammit, now it seems like they were rushing to get this one out.

NOW it seems like they were rushing? What about the high failure rate of early systems? Make no mistake, they were rushing. As was Sony, and probably Nintendo as well despite early reports to the contrary.

And me for complaining the Wii wouldn't support anything over 480p.

I can see being mildly annoyed here but having HDMI does not help you here in the least.

wow 4th 360? that's just bad luck. Anyways, the existence of a revised version of the 360 has been known for some time now, especially with the 65 nm chip being referenced for helping to create a quieter, cooler console. If you're on forums like these, you kind of have to be on top of this kind of stuff. Yea if you couldnt hold out and broke down and bought one this xmas for gears of war, dont worry, just hold out for a 1080p tv that can do 1080p through vga or something. It's annoying yea but Ill have no problem getting another 360, Im just giving the older one to someone else as a gift. With the games and accessories as expensive as they are, I doubt all 9.5 million xbox 360 owners are collectively ticked at the zephyr. The majority of the people that will buy 360's have yet to buy them. These are the pains of being an early adopter. Dont act like the 21st century was going to somehow be devoid of them.

Nintendo wasnt rushing, they were just being incompetent, as usual. I really dont understand the appeal of the wii, considering it has no online play and Nintendo will once again continue to make the only games worth playing on it. The weather channel gives you outdated weather data, it takes forever to download games and updates, and the wii codes were not well thought out at all. O yea and it took them 2 months to release a web browser for it, a nerfed one that is basically good for nothing. It's a trial version but I dont expect it to get any better in the future.

As for the ps3, dont even get me started. The controller was rushed. The system was rushed. The games were rushed (and most of them were better on the 360 to begin with). Nothing about the ps3 resembles competence nor excellence of any sort whatsoever. Once you buy the thing, your firmware goes from like 1.0 to like 1.7 to the 10^85. The thing wasnt just rushed, it was severly rushed.

In terms of the 360, the hardware was well designed but the lack of an HDMI port and 1080p support from day one was boneheaded. It was kind of like the HD-DVD/Blu Ray battle as soon as both formats got into stores, where HD-DVD got no credit for being able to do 1080p even though the current HD-DVD players could only do 1080i and Blu Ray was marketed more because it could do 1080p. However, the system interface from day one was excellent as was the online experience and both have only gotten better since. Some of the games were rushed but most launch lineups are disappointing. You still had a pretty decent variety of titles. The lack of HDMI, 1080p support, better launch games, and hardware reliability were the 360's worst negatives but look at the tactical benefits of launching early. Look at previous ps3 exclusives now forced to go to the 360 due to a much larger install base. MS was smart. They knew a worldwide launch a year early would be hard but they managed to pull it off and they have been good to the gamer, especially with the recent warranty exensions for 360 owners. Granted, hey, we have to pay 60 dollars for games and 50 bucks for controllers, I mean somewhere down the line, we have to get a better bargain on the service too. So they deserve some credit but not too much.

If you give MS an extra year, they definitely launch with HDMI and 1080p and maybe some better launch games. But having come out early, they control the playing field. The advantages are so apparent right now.

I can understand people being pissed about broken 360's. Many of my friends have had to deal with them. The fact is that right now, its the best system you can buy, if you compare its lineup to the competition's. Strangely enough, broken ps3 and wii reports are very low so hopefully the 360 was the last system with shoddy launch quality that we gamers will ever have to see.
