Agreed. JD straight from the bottle is all that's appropriate for a true Guitar Hero!

Of course once you land the record deal feel free to switch up to a nice Glenlivet or similar

I find a slap bass technique works the best for me.

Me and the misses dont allow sweets in the house...My drinks out is the only sweetness I get...Nothing wrong with that because I also drink the hard stuff as well..Its not like I am sipping on pina coladas and the such...Doesnt make me less masculine to enjoy a certain type of beverage...But I dont drink the crap stuff either..Light beer isnt allowed in our house either its all dark as night...

Despite its sweetness I wouldnt necessarily say vodka/kahlua/baileys all mixed in is very feminine...Maybe to the taste buds.....

I almost exclusively downstrum. I rest my fingers on the guitar below the strum bar and hammer away with my thumb. I'm able to do that fast enough to get through most songs (and five star a great deal of them), but some of the tier 7-8 hard and expert songs require me to grab the strum bar and move it up and down (alt-strumming). Without this nobody could finish anything like Misirlou on expert. The problem is I'm terrible doing this keeping a consistent pace or the right pace sometimes). Downstrumming to me makes it much easier to keep the timing.

I'm able to hit the fast parts of Carry Me Home just downstrumming, which may the fastest thumb in the west, but Misirlou/Beast and the Harlot cannot be done just downstrumming.

All I've got left is Misirlou and Hangar 18 before I can play Freebird on Expert. I may pay someone to beat Misirlou, haha.

Never tried GH until a friend brought his over on friday. I bought one yesterday. I have probably played about 5 to 7 hours on it. I am on the 6th set of songs on medium, only getting 3 stars. After starting medium was able to go back and get 5 stars on easy on 10 songs. Does this pace seem about right for someone new to the game? I am curious if I am facing an uphill battle.

I started on easy and worked my way up to medium. I have a friend who started on medium because the easy was too slow. said his ADD would kick in if he tried playing

Skipping a note does not hurt as much as incorrectly playing a note, which is like a skip plus an error. I need to use this on group 7 expert songs since they are so fast. For some sections, I just skip the orange notes since the shift time for my hand is too fast and I do worse trying to hit it. Of course this means that five stars is most likely out of the question, but I'm just trying to complete some of these songs.

Sort of like your SAT tests - incorrect answers score worse than blank ones.

I think you'll find that once you start skipping it, and nailing the notes you do play, you'll learn it a bit quicker. After a fairly short time, you'll start trying to add the skipped notes back in because you are better on the timing. Obviously not true for all, but this seemed to happen with me a few times now.

Just get perfect on Heart Shaped Box on easy for the 500 note achievement... The easiest way to get the 1000 note streak is Free Bird on Med (I haven't done it yet though )... You can also get the 300,000 pt achievement on Free Bird/Med. (which I have done)

I haven unlocked Freebird yet.

I keep hearing about freebird is it easy or hard to play does it take much use of the 4th button? I suck at medium and need practice I am lucky to break the 40k mark on medium on songs....I did get 102k on Heart shaped box on easy...But after many times of practice.

It definately uses the 4th button, which is really pretty easy after you start getting 3/4's of the way through Medium.

I actually had just beaten Hard all the way through before going back to Med. to get the 300,000+ pt achievement (which still took me a couple of attempts)...

Med. becomes very easy after going through hard, it's amazing how slow the notes seem to come at you, when you go down a level.

Just keep trying, you'll improve. By the time you unlock Freebird, you'll be able to do it. I was worried about it as well, but I beat the first time through. Still need to go back to get 5 stars on it...and it lasts a long, long time.

Easy really does seem easy to me now. If you're still having some trouble with Medium, I'd go back and try and get five stars on all the easy songs.

Yeah I am progressing...I just get nervous when I see a bunch of notes hop up on the screen...I was thinking about just missing them instead of trying to hit them and focus on using my pinky foremost so I get accustomed to it.

I'm glad that hyperspeed cheat was posted. I didn't know about it before. It makes playing songs on medium and some of the easier hard songs much more fun. And it has the benefit of making hard and expert a little easier because they seem slow after a session on hyperspeed. Doesn't help with the insane chord changes and three button chords on expert, though.

My suggestion is, if you're having issues with a song, turn on hyperspeed. It seems to make HO/PO a little easier to do, but it's still pretty hard to get through a tough song with it since the notes come so much faster. The point though is that when you turn it off and try the song again, you'll be amazed at how slow it seems to be moving.

Ha!

Rock This Town is HARD on Expert. The stupid tempo beat at the beginning is awful. I found the best way to finish it (and get 3 whole stars in the process) is to use only the index finger for the R-G R-Y bits. Just shifting my finger around back and forth for what seemed like forever was much easier than trying to hit each of the HOPOs with separate fingers. Other than that part, this song is pretty easy.

Wait until you get to Psychobilly (if you haven't already) or the beginning of Carry Me Home on Expert. Hilarious!

Can someone using VGA cables and GH2 tell me if your whole screen is filled or if the picture is cropped on all four sides like so...

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3...y/CIMG0501.jpg

I'm set to 1366x768 (native), but it didn't display like this over component. No other games look like this.

GH2 does this for me with VGA. Burnout also does this (and also only with VGA). Both of these games do it at 1366x768 and 1280x720.

Supposedly, the May 07 spring update thru XBL fixed some VGA issues. It was released this morning/last night.

Get it if you havent already. It created a new blade for the marketplace as well as some other tweaks.

That's how mine looks with component cables in 720p.

Strange, I'm pretty sure mine isn't like that (component to DLP 720p). Might just be my overscan. I'm fairly certain I did have a tiny bit of it in Burnout.
