Yeah, it is definitley a beast. It weighs just under a hundred pounds (92 pounds if I remember correctly). I was on the fence for a while about getting one, as no one locally was selling one, and the shipping would be rediculous. I ended up buying it off of ebay ($250 dollars total with shipping). I tried a few lcds earlier this year and didn't like them ( I don't think that LCDs know what the color black looks like lol). The blacks were washed out, but they did have a sharp picture and vibrant colors. The blacks were my main concern. I could not make out anything in a dark scene. I hope that the FW900 will hold me over till OLED becomes affordable.

This monitor will be great, but I need to find a desk that can hold it, and either an HDFury Cable for my PS3 or a VGA box. That will be at least another two hundered dollars, but if the picture quality is good, i'm happy. Right now I am using a 19 inch crt SDTV ($80 bux from walmart about 5 years ago) and I like it very much, but I need something capable of HD and my old tv won't cut it any more. I hope I made a good purchase!

The only thing about this monitor that sux is that it only has two inputs, high power consumption, and weights a ton. Other than that, it should be great.

The 2400 night even best the legendary 960 in the PQ department. I know about the blacks.. I have a 42inch Sony LCD, & have started gaming on my 26inch HDTV CRT.. Wow.. The blackness is like night & day along with the contrast, & color saturation. If PQ is your number 1 priority tube monitors are still the best.
I use my 42inch Sony as my monitor now..But my dad got a 61inch 1080p DLP so I might see how it looks on it. I'm still not too impressed with HD on LCDS.. Mine was a impulse buy.. I really wanted the SXRD 50inch, but was almost 3 grand at the time..

i emailed Astro earlier, replying from my confirmation email from Thursday - i just asked if they knew when mine were shipping since i was already charged the full amount. tonight i got a random UPS tracking email with no info except a reference number. now, i'm waiting on 4-5 items by UPS/Fedex right now so i wasn't sure what it was for. i ended up checking the ref # in the UPS email, and low and behold the second one matched my Astro ref #. Says EXPEDITED. i wonder if they're all that way or if it was just because i emailed. either way, awesome

Yeah, mine says expedited also. I think its terminology for international shipments (you know = domestic ground). I did notice in the tracking info that it no longer has an anticipated arrival date of 4/24. Same for any of you? No change in date, but no date at all? :?

It is different. The W900 is not flat tube, and all around not as good as the FW900.

I just wish they would actually offer international shipments. Right now they won't ship to destinations outside the US, which is somewhat confusing since they are originating in China. I've subscribed to their newsletter/email list to get updates on when they will resume international shipments... hopefully it's soon as I really want to get myself a mixamp.

I had emailed them with excellent response from one of their reps and they hope to resume international shipments in May. I even thought about having it shipped to a friend in the US and then having it re-shipped by them or picked up by family who visit them a lot. Alas my US friends are away until June so it wouldn't help me in this case.

(Im)patiently waiting...

i'm assuming it's somewhat related to not wanting an outside company buying up all their stock and selling them for a higher price to people in the US. but that's just guesswork.

just have someone here buy one and ship it to you.

the reason you guys dont have an estimated delivery date any more is because the package is in transit. when its in transit, it doesnt have the estimated delivery date.

Actually they said it was a problem with UPS and shipments internationally. I'm not sure what the problem is as I ordered a package from the UK last week and it shipped via UPS and is on the way to me now. Maybe something to do with UPS and shipping from China? Oh well....

As for getting someone in the US to buy one and ship it to me, are you offering? To be honest I would prefer to do this with someone I know and trust. Not saying that AVS forum members aren't trustworthy but it's hard to part with your money on blind faith. I'll (im)patiently wait for Astro to resume international shipments on their own. Thanks for the offer though!

sure. if you don't want to wait, the best way to do it would be to have someone buy a pair, make an ebay auction for a minute with buy it now and have you buy them that way, with paypal. that way you're doubly covered by both ebay and paypal.

Dale_S,

I live in Edmonton and had the same problem. I ended up shipping to a family member in the States, who will in turn ship to me. In my opinion, the reason Astro isn't shipping to Canada is due to the amazingingly HIGH cost to ship up here via UPS. I chose the cheap option ($21) for Astro shipping, but to go from that destination to Canada will cost me over $110, plus taxes and duties (brokerage fee is included in $110). People earlier were complaining that they thought $21 was too high for shipping. For me, it will cost around $150 in total to get the A40 Audio System. I sure hope they are worth it!

Oh, I could have shipped UPS ground for around $25, but then I'd still have to pay brokerage, taxes, and duties on top of that. Plus, I've been waiting since early February and the idea of having to wait an additional 7 days for ground transport would have killed me...

im sorry i didnt clarify, it usually has the estimated delivery date dissapear after a "departure scan" because its usually flying, or being driven a far distance because things can delay a flight or cross country truck ride.

like mines says "In Transit - On Time" right now (also its in kentucky! WOOHOO!) but the last scan was a "Import Scan".

I think it's cause the box is 8 pounds. I also could have shipped via ground, but it would have still be north of $50 to ship it when factoring in taxes, duties, brokerage fees. I had heard that USPS is the cheapest way to ship things, but they are rather slow.

Thanks for the offer KBI - I'm not sure why the shipping is so high. I have had other packages shipped from the US via US Parcel Post Insured and the cost certainly hasn't been what I call excessive. A 4lb shipment cost $16 insured.

Definitely go with USPS if not in a hurry - by far the cheapest and because they still require a signature, you are not out anything if the package goes MIA. With a shipment like this you would have to pay the standard $5 customs fees and of course our GST taxes, but no brokerage.

As it turns out my 360 did the RROD tonight so ordering via the 'slow boat' isn't going to be a problem. Guess I was meant to wait for it.

Amazing! I emailed Astro Gaming asking when my order would come ( they said on their website that all orders placed after the 18th will come during the first week of May, I ordered mine on the 19th)

I got a response back about an hour later with a tracking number and an estimated arrival of the 29th!! What a great surprise. That is pretty cool of them to do that. Now I regret ordering my AD700's using budget shipping lol.

It says my order is in Hong Kong right now, and that it was shipped out on the 23rd. I guess I got in the same boat as you guys!
