I just bought the HD DVD 'add on' today to take advantage of the free HD DVD's.
I have a 65" Sony 1080i HDTV rear projection (will be replaced with the Sony Black Pearl front projection within a few months)
My original, as in 2 year old, 360 is hooked up via component video and optical audio to my Onkyo 805 receiver which can relay 1080i and 1080p.
I must say I'm a bit disappointed. Upon hooking it up, I'm not getting any better picture on HDDVD King Kong out of the HD DVD add on than I did using the standard DVD on my progressive scan SD DVD player? I was not expecting 1080p quality, but at least 1080i!
Can I get 1080i quality out of this older 360? Or is it only possible via the newer Xbox's like the Elite or Pro, with HDMI connectors?
Any help would be appreciated.

how about trying it without the 805 and see what happens. Otherwise my guess is your display.
