I just got my copy of MGS:E and tried out all three of the games that come in the bundle. MGS 2 and MGS 3 both are listed as supporting Dolby Pro Logic II and Dolby 5.1 (MGS3).

I am playing on my 60GB PS3 and I have a Pioneer HTS-GT1 surround sound system hooked up via Optical. When I put the games in, I made sure the settings for Dolby II/5.1 were turned on, but the sound system was still not picking up the Dolby signal, it was still playing everything in Stereo and not putting DD in the display.

My PS3 is set at Linear PCM if that helps. I have no problems getting PS3 games to read as DTS or DD 5.1. Can anyone give me a hand on how to get surround sound output from PS2 games on PS3?

Thanks in advance!

If you are connected over optical, then you should set your PS3 to bitstream. NOT PCM. You'll find this supported over numerous discussions on here. If you make that change, you should be good to go
