It took me a while to realize I could do that, but yes, I had that on when I fought suit alley guy. He still kept moving out of reach and when I came in, he was nailing me before I could hit him. Eventually I slowed down and waited for him to come in and that's when I took control of the fight.

By the way, I like how using the target in the fight gives you the health of the person you are fighting. This way you know when they are actually down for good. Before I used the target, I thought the fight was over, but the person kept getting up.

I agree, but the reality is that people are excited to have the game and want to let everyone know, and for those who don't have it yet, it is kind of helpful to know where they might have a good chance of scoring it. Hell, even a moderator threw in an "I got it from..." post, albeit before Keyser moved the thread. Probably better suited for their own thread, but they're in here, so it is what it is - no sense in getting pissed about it.

I finally picked my copy up, which wouldn't be at all interesting, except for the tidbit I got from the manager. Apparently they've been selling a lot of PS3s along with the game today at Best Buy. Definitely good news for those who are hoping for a lot of people online.

Now if I can curb my starvation, I'll be able to actually discuss the gameplay.

Ok, so how is the sound quality. Ambient sounds, etc.

Also what about the songs, are they CD quality or are they kind of low quality sounding like Guitar Hero 3?

Exactly, hopefully these are minor things they are working through and not a big "oh crap...we didn't see that coming ). Actually, playing on the single player is better for me anyway...gives me some time to get used to the controls...and really deep dive into Niko's personality (of which, he seems to have excellent manners when running people over...)

Does the game actually teach you any of the control in the beginning the way Unchartered did? Or do you have to just reference the owner's manual and experiment on your own?

Also, are you able to listen to the radio stations when outside of cars, with your cell phone?

Its like listening to songs through a cheesy car stereo. Sounds good but definitely not CD quality. To get a CD quality version of the song, you're gonna have to mark it using your phone and go to the social club and download the song.

As far as overall gameplay sound quality, its fantastic on 5.1.

Oh yea, Gamestop handed out "get two downloads for free" cards when picking up the preorder. Going to try to ZIT system as soon as the online is fixed.

ZIT function should work regardless of the multiplayer not working, no?

They have little dialog boxes in the upper corners from what I remember that tell you how to do various things in the game.

Dam, that sucks.. Such a waste to have all these songs and not have them at good quality. Same with Guita Hero III..

I actually haven't tried it yet but since the game is currently offline for all PS3 users I just assumed that the ZIT function wouldn't work since it interfaces with the Social Club website. I'll give it a try in a few minutes.

Ambient sounds are fantastic, outdoors at least. One little thing that really adds to the immersion is hearing other people's radios sometimes when you get close to their cars. I did notice though that when I went into a little diner there didn't seem to be any background sounds at all.

I can't comment on the music since I just played a couple of hours last night and was mostly running around on foot.

Anti-aliasing - In digital signal processing, anti-aliasing is the technique of minimizing the distortion artifacts known as aliasing when representing a high-resolution signal at a lower resolution. Anti-aliasing is used in digital photography, computer graphics, digital audio, and many other applications.

Update on the darkness issue, it definitely helps out a lot when changing from RGB Full to RGB Limited. Finally, I can see! Thanks for the advice.

Now, I have a question that I'm confused about. Maybe I just understood it wrong, but when they were talking about the new targeting system, I thought they said you could target specific body parts automatically. I'm not seeing how this is done. Can you lock on to a part automatically or do you still have to manually aim to do this?

Oh, and a bit of info in case you haven't seen it. If you want a shotgun and can't find one, all you have to do is steal a cop car and you automatically get the shotgun. I didn't realize that's where I was getting mine from until the wife pointed it out.

Is anyone else bugged by the way the camera goes into an extreme wide angle mode when you tilt the camera way up? Like a fisheye lens effect. It's a neat effect but I'd rather have the option to turn it off.

Did you try enlarging the text size in the cellphone options? It makes the text a little easier to read.
