Damn, even if you got them for $15 on average, that has to be close to $6,000. Then add in the thousands of regular DVD's and HD DVD's and that has to be $10,000-$15,000. Not trying to knock you, but you live in an apartment and spend that kind of cash on movies?

I'm saying his whole collection, including television and stereo is probably valued at upwards of $20,000 - $30,000. That's a down payment on a house, I'm sure there are decent homes in the $100,000-$150,000 range. Where I live, you'd be hard pressed to find a decent house for $600,000.

I'm sure you can get better prices on homes in other parts of Maryland, that was just a quick check. You wouldn't even find anything in the slums of California for those prices...which I'm a bit jealous of.

That's why I plan on suffering here in California until I retire, then I plan on moving either to the Northeast, or Midwest. With my pension based on the amount of money I make here in California, I will have a much better lifestyle in retirement. I chose to rent in California because of the high prices of homes, as well as the insanely high property taxes. Most of the condos and townhomes near me are in the $350,000 to $500,000 range, there's no way I want a $3,000 - $4,000 a month house payment.

I don't know where you plan to retire, in my area in DC studios start around $180-200000.

let me introduce you to the Bay Area, California

My house, all 891 sq feet of it. built in 1947, and until recently mildly remodeled, all original, in a not too great neighborhood - upwards of $500k.

Sucks to be buying your first house here. i go 2 hours north to my brother in laws, a brand new 3000 sq ft house is less then $200k.

its insanely stupid

We plan on moving to Maine, or New Hampshire if we go to the Northeast. If we move to the Midwest, Illinois will probably be our choice. We want to live in a smaller town, less than 5,000 people, yet live no more than 30 minutes outside of a larger city. Homes are readily available in the markets we're interested for about $100,000 - $150,000. Those are in good areas, with very low crime. By the time we retire (20 years) the homes will probably double in price, but so will our incomes.

That sounds about right as far as their worth...but you have to remember it's not like i had or have $15k all at once and just bought all of these movies right at one time. I buy them weekly.... $40-80 a week on average. So that would equal out to roughly $260 a month. Show me a realitor in Maryland that will take $260 a month on a house.

post some pics

My mom works for Sony, and she brought home a copy of "Starhawk BETA"
I quickly slipped it into my trusty PS3, and started playing.

LOL You shouldn't comment on something you know nothing about. So you post some cheap homes you found on a realtor site and think that makes for a great argument? You think just because those homes are "affordable" they are great buys? Did you even look into those neighborhoods or surrounding areas? I truly doubt it.

Getting an affordable AND DECENT house IN A DECENT area in Maryland IS NOT cheap. Just because Maryland isn't as big as California doesn't mean it comes with a cheap cost of living.

The right side is a little brighter in the picture compared to the real thing. I tried my best.

I'm in a small apartment now until I start working in March. Plan on getting the 10th Gen Kuro next year. But this works for now.
