for bow you want triangle, triangle, traingle hold triangle (great single target attack and rebuilds power fast) and arrow storm. if you have a range aoe power then hit a few arrowsotrms by the time 3 guys get you to you they are half dead or more. also you can chain the melee move into the above move via

square, square, square, hold square, hold triangle this combos the melee moves with the triangle finisher. Also make sure you lead in with a power for the damage bonus before using weapon attacks.

I have tried handblasters and Im meh about it.

Im not a fan of the AoE ranged attack and pulse blast locks you in place. Its not terrible but basically I want something that gives me the lunge from rifle with out it causing me to move forward combined with the AoE ranged attack of dual wield with out any knockback. That would be the perfect weapon. Dual wield would be awesome but the single target spam attack seems to be horrible short sometimes.

I guess I should start with what weapons hava decent AoE ranged attack.

I finally got this on my PS3. Wow, I'm pretty impressed at how fun and polished it is. Frame rate holds up well. I bought something for $5 to get Premium. Lots of fun to be had for free. Free online + free MMO = happy gamer.

I have some basic questions, if there is a good online resource let me know.

1. I just figured out I have "rolls", seems to be damage and controller. Can you add more, I see "tank" and "healer" on gear. Under loadouts I have three sections, but only two rolls. I am confused.

2. My skill/power seem to be hit or miss on usefulness. I found I can respect for $500, does that price go up each time? Anyway to know how good a power will be unless you buy it?

3. I have two turrets now, but can only have one out. Is the newer one always better? Sometime they don't seem to do anything, just follow me around, but most of the time they attack.

4. You can only map six or so power/skills to the controller right? So some you just don't use, or can you quickly change rolls and just put them on the other rolls?

5. I have done several instances, which are cool, but the level of people who are in it vary. A level 16 instance had me (level 16 at the time) and some people in their 20s. Why? Are they there for loot or xp?

1. Each class has 2 roles damage and their class specific role. You can not add anymore or change it.

2. Yes it goes up and then caps around something. I can't remember what right now. Its not very much. As a suggestion when you get close to your max amount of money buy the high level sodas and when you need cash just sell them back to the vendor. Try to not have cash in escrow.

3. Basically turrets suck especially at high levels. The high level one isn't always better. Which ever one seems to be do something for you I would get.

4. That's right only 6 powers on your power bar. It sounds like your a gadget controller so let me give a few suggestions. I like bomb..it has awesome range and does huge damage especially if you have super strength. If you have raid equipment though it doesn't benefit from it so it loses effectiveness if your decked out. Gauss Grenade / Fear Gas combo..this is pretty much the goto combo most gadget controllers use. Intimidate is always a great pick. Pick either Taser pull or sticky bomb and use it frequently when in a group. If you are in controller role it puts a buff on all party members that increases there power regeneration. It does not stack and I prefer the sticky bomb. I think this was my six powers when I was playing a gadget controller : INTIMIDATE, STICKY BOMB, GAUSS GRENADE, FEAR GAS, ANESTHETIC, BOMB

5. Yes...or feats. As you play you earn feats as well as levels these are almost as important as gaining levels. Actually probably more important because you will get to level 30 fairly quick and then to really up your character you want to have 70+ skill points.

One other suggestion. Its really easy to get a pick up group going in the game. Just push left on the Dpad > select Nearby > pick one of the names > Invite to group. You'll have a party of 4 going in no time.

Wow, great info thanks.

Yes, gadget controller sounds right. I need to respec ASAP, my hodgepodge of stuff is pretty lame. I do find sticky bomb useful because it is AE, which is what I seem to need when surrounded. I also got a cool power that helps me regen health, but the time it takes to recharge is ridiculous.

What about weapons skills, I'm two-handed and like it. Is there any reason to have another weapon skill? I also am an acrobat, which I added super-glide to, I assume adding the grapple wall climb is a waste. Is it me or is flight the most useful transportation, or are there pros and cons to each?

I would try out all the weapons and get a feel for them. I would say go with what ever is fun but two hand weapons swing relatively slow and gadget controllers are not good at taking damage. I like the rifle, if your good with them you bounce around like yoda.

Flight is probably the easiest travel power to use. If you prefer using bows or rifles it has great advantages. Although on indoor maps that are relatively tight I find acrobatics to be more useful. Super speed has a super power that goes really well with controllers. They all have their pluses and minus, but flight with a missle weapon is definetly the easiest thing to use. Adding grapple is totally not a waist. Get it..learn how to use it..love it. If your near a building it gives you the fastest vertical climb in the game and it can be used in combat.

The reason Gauss Grenade / Fear Gas is such a good combo is because of power interactions. Gauss Grenade sets the mobs on fire and if they are on fire and you use Fear Gas it has a chance of making them explode.

Everything you ever wanted to know about being a gadget controller but were afraid to ask.

I see, controllers are kind squishy they want to fight more by range, so 2H is bad due to face to face? Maybe I'll do bows, rifles seem so non-super. Thanks for the advice on cash, I have over $1k in escrow, doh.

I can't wait until the kids are in bed, can't wait to re-do my char.

Edit: From what I'm reading Bow/Rifle/Dual Pistols is a good way to go with Staff added later. Seems like I've been playing my guy like a tank with his 2H and that is why I'm starting to get my but kicked.

I am now a bow master, well I like to think so. My guy is level 23 I think. I can't tell if I am choosing the right combo of powers and using them in the correct order. How does what I do in combat get my power back? Sometime I get deplete fast, other times I seem to have lots of it.

What stats am I supposed to aim for? Power and might?

I still can solo quest instances near my level, which is good right? Dr. Freeze was a pain, as was the dual flash combo in the gorilla instance. I tend to wait a few levels on the Alerts, I find going in right away gets me dead a lot.

Every time you hit a mob with a weapon it starts up the hit counter. When you stop hitting them it creates a buff that makes you regen power for a few seconds. The higher the hit count the more powerful the buff.

So if you get hit it stops? How can you master this, hit mobs that are not attacking you? What about blocking, does that keep the counter going? what about special moves? I really like my bow attack that makes me do this rapid fire thing, does that help?

It only matters if they hit you in so far as that might stagger you and reset your hit counter. As long as they don't stagger you with a hit and you keep attacking your hit counter should keep going up. The special moves definetly count towards your hit counter. The key is to get a good pattern going. Use a power then use attacks/ special attacks to get your hit counter over say 12 then user a power and then start attacking again. You don't want to constantly use powers because you'll run out of energy. So you use one or two then attack for a bit, then user one or two more powers.

Hey. I just hit level 30. Would it be a better deal to buy a DLC package or just a month of membership to try to the added content? If I make a char with new powers what happens when the membership expires?

I also need to find a level 30 build.

I would buy one DLC package and see if that is enough. I would buy the latest one since it seems to have the most content. That will leave your account as the next level up permanently and if you still want more then you can think about subscribing.

I respeced, but wondering where I start at 30. I'm supposed to earn Marks via Alerts of something. I picked up a bunch of level 30 quests in the Hall of Doom too, maybe they are related. I assume there is a bunch of content, but I'm a bit lost now.

Honestly I didn't play a lot after 30. I got 4 characters to 30 played some legends battles and haven't really played much after that.

You want to start by doing a daily duo. That gives you marks that you can trade in for better equipment. Id start looking for a league to team with. The high end content is meant to be a team affair and is more for subscribers.

I queued every Duo and Alert I could and sat in it for an hour. I guess no one picks up randoms at this level. So if I want to play I have to join a league or make a new char. I guess I'll take a break, I have a backlog.

I haven't played for a couple months (Dark Souls and Mass Effect 3 took up my time), but there used to be plenty of pick-up games that I was put into without being part of a clan. Too bad that it's changed. I started off by doing the Toyman challenges, then Duos, then Alerts. I might get back into it soon.

I forgot to click the "ready" box, that is why I never got into a game. Today I got into a duo, but we kept losing. Seems hard if you have one weak link and I think we had two.

I did all the Alerts that I was qualified for, now they say I can no longer get loot. I thought you had to do them many times to get marks to buy equipment? Is it once a day?

Yes its once a day for tier 2 customers. Have you bought anything yet?. I think for people who havent bought anything its once every 3 days, something like that.

I'm premium now. I was thinking about just paying for a month to make chars with the news powers and get my money. Why is the auction house prices so high, is money worthless in the game? Simple stuff on sale for 250,000 makes me think there was a hack.

I love getting into an Alert with three guys in damage role, of course we get our butts kicked, no healer! I'm always playing my controller role, but most morons don't seems to know they can change roles. I love healers, they make life so easy.

Now playing: Bloodborne
Recently Finished: The Order: 1886, Dying Light
PSN & XBL: Scuzzlebutt33

lol...Welcome to the internetz.

Actually I would say the most important thing is a tank and healer working well together is the most important thing to a successful mission. Controllers can speed things up and make things a lot smoother same thing for damage role but a tank and healer who don't know their role ends in a party wipe pretty frequently.

Which means you need to create a healer or a tank so we can roll together.
