Good news for those of us using an IR solution to control the PS3! 2.40 has added "System Off" to the XMB (scroll left, then up). I'm still using my old PS2 IR receiver combined with a PS2 to USB adapter, so this is a welcome addition. Yes, I know there are other alternatives out there. Mine was dirt cheap, and it still works.

Hope this helps someone else...

However, you still can't turn it ON with the limited IR solution, right?

(By "limited" I mean something like the Nyko that just emulates the controller, minus the PS button. I'd consider something like the IR2BT to be a "complete" IR solution because it has all the bluetooth remote commands.)

Yes, no power on. And that has always been ok for me. Playing a game, I press PS on the controller to start the game that is already in the drive. To start a DVD, I have to physically put the disc in, and that turns it on. Don't get me wrong - my set up isn't the best out there... but it's dirt cheap, and it works
