OK, so it's about a mouth away from release (Nov. 11th) and I couldn't help but notice that COD(5): World at War has taken a backseat to the likes of Resistance 2 and Kilzone 2 (and rightfully so)...but I was just pondering what the masses are thinking of this title.

I realize that it's only been in the past few weeks that more info on COD: WaW has begun to surface but I was interested in getting peoples insights on the WWII theme, the supposed enchantments to graphics, the recently released list of achievements...so on and so forth.

I'm actually not as interested in WaW as it stands, in its development as I was with its predecessor - COD4 seemed a "must buy" a month out...WaW I continue to be on the fence with. This recent article does helps a bit, perhaps COD: WaW will be a worthy addition to the series?

"Huh, I thought the rocky mountains would be a little rockier than this....that John Denver is full of s#!t man!"

This will be a day one purchase for me. I have some reservations about Tryarch at the helm, but everything I've read says this will just continue my love for this series. COD4 was the most value/time spent in gaming for me personally and I think I'll get similar time with this new release. Just hope Treyarch can deliver to the expectations set by IW.

I'm really pondering it. CoD3 was chore to finish. Its just not as fun using weapons and tech from 60 years ago. CoD4 had that cool factor with all the new weapons and gadgets.

I need to do some more research to find out how long the campaign will take the average gamer before I buy it... but I am leaning towards a purchase. I'm a huge fan of WWII shooters, so that goes a long way right there.

Found some more info here at gamespot:

Based on COD4, I would have picked it up on day 1, and paid $100 for it if necessary, lol.

But now with Tryarch, I'm going to have to wait and see what others think before I jump in.

I'm interested! I've got roughly 40 hours on my PS3 and I'm guessing 36 of those are playing COD4. All I play is the multiplayer, if its up to snuff with COD4 then its a no brainer for me.

I am down. it will be a nice change of pace for me (from cod4, modern style). I never really got into FPS before COD4, so the WW2 theme is not played out for me yet.

I personally will get it day one as COD4 is my favorite game, I dont mind WWII as long as it is done right and is as exciting as COD4. I will also get SOCOM and possible R2. IF they were NOT using th COD4 engine then i would be wait and see, but since it is, this one will go day 1, sucks ps3 guys wont get the beta....

i'm with those tired of WWII. been there done that like 15 times already. why couldn't they have done vietnam? that could have been cool, imo.

i'll rent it but if i'm not as happy as with COD4 then i won't buy it.

I'll probably pick it upoff ebay after its been out for awhile. But only if I am done with R2 which I dont think I'll be done with that game for a long time. Especially if the MP is as good as its sounding.

Since QOS is also based on the COD4 engine, I'll wait for the reviews and pick which ever looks most appealing, but not both.

R2 for the win. October is usually my favorite time of the year with football and leaves turning and halloween, but this year I'd gladly skip October for Nov 4th.

My interest in CC5 is based solely on the hope that it will drive down the price of COD4. I still need to pick that sucker up and 20-30 bucks is my sweetspot.

Def a day 1 buy.

Watch the movie showing co-op mode...I'm the opposite in terms of guns...modern warfare is cool...but bolt action guns and flamethrowers make it much more interesting.

I'm also looking forward to Fallout 3 in a couple of weeks.

I have to buy it.

All my friends are getting it, and I don't want to be the only dork still playing COD4 when everyone else on my PSN buddy list is playing COD5.

I've purchased every single COD game, but with the games coming out in the next few months, I think I'll pass. I might pick it up used down the road.

Maybe down the road at budget pricing or rent it. I had COD4 for a while but didn't play it much and I think I'll be consumed with Resistance 2 and others games when COD5 comes out.

That's a good point. I'm going to have to start playing COD4 without the red dot, just to be prepared for this game.

I don't want to start a flame-war, but this sounds good. http://www.psu.com/Call-of-Duty--Wor...0005017-p2.php
Quote:

a lot of attention will no doubt be focused on World at War’s visual quality. In short, this latest instalment in the popular FPS series looks amazing. Not only has Treyarch upped the ante on detailed textures, but also new technology has been implemented to allow for environmental destruction, more specifically, the use of the flamethrower to set ablaze enemies and destroy vast fields of grass and trees. Equally impressive is Berlin, with its crumbling architecture and war-torn streets emanating a particularly epic visual quality. Furthermore, the PS3 iteration appeared to run smoother than its Xbox 360 counterpart, with noticeably crisper textures and faster streaming. Treyarch even confirmed to us that the PS3 runs their texture processing better than Microsoft’s machine, hence why the PS3 release has the upper hand.

I don't know if I'll get it though with all of the games coming out.

Who can argue with flamethrowing peeps in trees??? After watching these videos, my interest was piqued. The multiplayer looks amazing.

I will be hopping between alternate universes between this and R2! And Farcry 2?? That too looks freaking amazing. November is a FPS lover's dream.

I just clicked on this site and thought the exact same thing. Why not Vietnam? The most controversial war ever.

COD5 is down the list a little with Deadspace, Fallout 3, Gears of War 2, Killzone 2 and RE5 all out right away or on the horizon. Might pick it up when the price plummets because it's only going to sell a third of what COD4 did across all platforms.
