Yup ALT2, but, it makes taking and shooting while in cover a royal pain in the ass. Guess that won't matter for MP (no cover), but SP it might make it tougher to enjoy.

Fo sho. NONE of the big titles have had blockbuster ad support.

Can anyone give us a report on the MP?

I'm buying the game as I'd definitely play the SP campaign, but for me, the MP is what it's all about. This going to give me a rest from COD?

So, I realize talking about the demo is old hat, but what was the big deal about the controls? I had no problems with them whatsoever.

I've just played the demo, and am planning on picking this up today. I'm having a hard time adjusting to the controls, but that's only a question of experience with it.

The graphics seem pretty soft (playing at 106" 1080p), I was expecting much sharper with a better 3-D feel. Anything in the PS3 setup that I may be missing? (I found Little Big Planet to be equally 'soft').

On the back of the box it says 720p and 1080i only so I don't know if the PS3 upconverts it and leaves it to the display.

Thanks.

For those playing at 1080p, what do you think about the graphics' sharpness?

You can do that all the time. Not sure would be fun doing that through a whole game. There are exploits in every game.

Could anyone let me know what control schemes there are? I can't access any of the gaming websites at my work to look, and I'd like to go pick this game up today at lunch...

Anyone have any feedback from the MP?

Specifically,
  • Is there a lobby system?
  • Can you find and join friends while they are in a game?
  • Is the mic push to talk or open mic?
  • Is the game play more strategic like that of SOCOM or mindless running around like COD?

The controls were less responsive than those of COD4 and every FPS must be exactly like COD4 to be successful.

The ALT2 control scheme is very similar to that of COD4.

the only problem i got with the ALT2 control scheme is that when you hold the L2 button for cover you have to hit L1 to zoom

Leave 720P checked unless you want the inferior scaling to kick in (960x1080). The devs said it looks best in 720P mode.

I completely agree with this statement. I have a few friends that I play COD with online and they are already asking me if it is like COD. It's a ridiculous expectation that a game called Killzone be exactly like a game called COD. If you want to play COD, wait for the next release.

I personally love playing COD 4 & 5. It's been the only game I play since SOCOM. But I am also looking for a change. I am ready to move to the next FPS. I think Confrontation was going to be it but that was a huge miss. To laggy, graphics were not that great and the game play was weak as well. Killzone seems to be offering what I want in an FPS. I welcome some changes and having to go through a learning curve to get good.

Honestly, I am getting rather tired of endless running around and respawning every 30 seconds. I consider myself a pretty good player on COD so it's not like I just suck at it. It just gets boring. I miss SOCOM.

For those that are using the Alt2 controls, I urge you to try the default controls. It took me five minutes to get accustomed to it and IMO it is SO much better. Many people have the misconception that with default controls you need to hold in R3 while aiming and this is not true. Press R3 once to zoom and lock, and it will stay in zoom until you reload or press R3 again. Much easier to hold cover this way. I can see the alt2 controls working for MP, but definitely not SP.

"You went full ******, man. Never go full ******."

I played the demo last nite. Nite being after the wife went to bed so the volume was very low. It was a good FPS but nothing great IMO. The controls were fine and I was used to them by the end. The graphics were very good. It wasnt an immediete WOW for me but the more I looked the more I saw the little details. Having the textures clear when your right up on something really helps polish this one up. Explosions were awesome and once I got the controls down, firing a machine gun into someone was fantastic ha ha. I would like to believe this is a pre production build of the demo but its been proven before that the demo is what you get.

I hope Killzone is a step towards that because Confrontation sure wasn't.

Thank goodness there's Warhawk. I can get my strategy fix there, but I hope Killzone2 is a step back towards strategy in a good FPS.
