Ok, So I spent hours last night trying to set up my windows media center and my ps3. The PS3 is hooked up to the internet, and my computer is, I just cant get the computer to locate the ps3. I used windows media player to set it up (under library, then sharing), and I cant get it to find the ps3.
any thoughts??
I dont even have my firewall turned on, so it cant be an issue with that.

I made a thread in the XBox section on how to fix common Media Player streaming issues:
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=802391

It applies to the PS3, too.

I tried for hours one night to get WMP to successfully stream to the PS3 to no avail. After about 3 hours I downloaded the PS3 Media Server and was up and running a few minutes later.

Windows Media Center isn't compatible with the PS3, but media sharing through Windows Media Player 11 is. Check out this guide to help you set it up (there's even a video how-to for reference):
PS3 and Windows Media Player 11 Media

Maybe somone should tell Kim Kommando... From her column in our Sunday paper
"You may already have everything you need to stream video to your television.
The Xbox 360 (from $200) streams content from Windows Media Center. Sign up for Xbox Live Gold ($50 annually) to access Netflix movies.
A better option is the PlayStation 3 ($400). It also works with Windows Media Center. A built-in Web browser lets you view any online content."

I thought maybe something had changed so I came to the forum to get the real story. I guess I should know the newspaper is full of disinformation all the time.

Forget Windows Media Server entirely and use PS3 Media Server:
