What do you expect from an MMO? Devil May Cry depth? It reminds me a lot of FF12, grinding out levels before the first real story mission. (Any party member joining in once you head to the castle join at Vaan's current level, so grinding to level 30-50 would actually be very helpful)

The level grind is pretty tedious in this game. I made it to level 15 and I am at a story boss. (Masked guy with a demon) had my first crash after logging off and trying to exit from the title menu.

It seems that once you hit level 15 the equipment starts to become considerably different. The Gladiator is now a suitable tank, so I may stick with the class after all. The Pugilist doesn't really play that much differently anyway.

From what I have read, phase one of the beta is capped at level 20, so if I have the time I may try the other starting cities and classes before phase one is complete.

I tried this last night. Only actually had time to get outside briefly to see some creatures. It seems like you can just walk through them unless you choose to engage them, that seems a bit odd to me. I engaged in combat with some kind of Toad thing that kicked my ass. Of course I didn't know what I was doing and I'm sure I wasn't a high enough level. It was amusing watching somebody fight some innocent little cacti and a lady bug thing.

The game felt really quiet, almost like reading a book. The visuals are nice and clean at least. I am not sure I will like the gameplay but I'll try a little longer. It didn't seem like I had to make contact with my sword for it to actually hurt the toad.

Some enemies will attack on sight, just not those near the starting cities. Antlions will probably be the first you encounter that will give chase.

Many creatures do ignore you...not all though. I've been attacked by some thick $%&* that charged me. Good thing sprint works smile.gif

Man I'm really torn on this. The game looks cool but I'm having a lot of thoughts about time served. These things tend to envelope your life for months, not sure I'm willing to commit that much. Hell I spent all day Saturday just trying to advance out of the first city. I already probably spend too much time on games as it is. I will probably check the next beta out and decide then since characters transfer into the full game.

ok, makes sense. So basically just like real life, these poor passive things like Cacti guys and ladybugs doing there own thing unless I choose to massacre them to level up biggrin.gif

Yep, but leveling up is fastest by doing Fate encounters and quests. Grinding against enemies takes way too long past level 4.

Tell me about it. Towards the end of my time in the city was at like 14.5 so I thought I'd run off and quickly grind out half a level...$%&* no...took another hour or two.

I learned that my last experience with the beta, I seek out Fates now, you get the experience from each creature and you get a reward for helping out.

One of my friends is really pushing me to try the beta, but I am just not sure if I would invest in the game even if I liked the beta. I have never been the type of gamer that spends months on the same game. I will typically play something until I beat it, and then move on to something, coming back every once in awhile. With having to pay a sub on this one, I would feel like I would need to continue to constantly play it to get my moneys worth. That or I would do the dance where I shut down my account and wait for the next expansion pack to arrive.

Dumb question - when this officially comes out I would need to buy the game ($45 in Canada) and pay the monthly fee or is the $45 for an offline version only.

Everyone I have spoken to says the main story can be cleared in a month, and you get a free month with purchase of the game. It also has a full cross platform purchase for your account. (I bought the game on PS3 for $10, and never started it, once the full version hits I will start it up and play my month out on PS4)

Give the second phase of the beta a shot, if you like it buy a copy and power through the story mode.

All online. $45 is for the disc software. Not sure what the Canada (damn your hockey team btw tongue.gif) monthly fee is, but that is paid after the 30-days after you register the game. Similar to all paid MMOs

Have it send a reset to your email. The game locks your account any time you log in from a new IP, that may have happened. The only way back in is to reset your password.

Do the different races mean anything, or can you play any kind of class with each race?

Each class has a starting city, and each starting city determines how the story kicks off. (The desert one seems more interesting based on the summary)

I've been playing a little via ps3 (dont have ps4 yet) i'm still in the starting city (the shroud...woods area) at 8th level. got a couple of days off coming up and i plan to put some time on it. I feel the combat is more intuitive and fun than ff11, but i'm unsure of the party dynamic, as i havent done any party based quests yet (i got a buddy i'm hoping to play with soon, but he's much higher level than me)

What is eveyones job class they are going for? i started as lancer to eventually go dragoon which means once i get lancer to 30, i will switch to pugilist or marauder. (Probably pugilist first)

Stand tall and shake the heavens...

I went with a pugilist since one of my friends that has been playing it on the ps3 recommended it for me. There are so many cool things that I saw during my hour or so with the beta last night. I have only two gripes, the targeting and the fact that it just isn't that easy to find where you are supposed to go early on. With that said, I really plan on spending at least 2-3 nights a week playing the beta and trying out a couple different classes to see what I think about it.

If I end up liking it a lot, then I will probably pick it up and play it for a couple months and then let my sub go when other things are out that I want to play. At least I can always go back and play it when new content comes out.
