I am using mkv2vob to change mkv container to watch on my ps3 and wanted to use a usb to transfer the files.

I converted the file in automatic modes and it created a mpg file, I then copied the file onto a usb stick (into a VIDEO directory). When i put the USB stick in my PS3 the file did not come up under video (the directory was recognized but it said not files). Basically the PS3 could not see the converted mpg file. All worked fine when I converted the file again to avchd-usb format and copied the directory to usb and put the usb into my ps3 so I know the file can be played.

Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong. I really want to be able to transfer a bunch of files to my PS3 hard drive and not have to watch via USB each time.

Thanks

Did you try pressing the triangle button when selecting the USB stick? Press triangle, then select "display all". Then highlight the video, hit triangle, and select copy.

You've got to make sure the usb stick is formatted to Fat32 and not NTFS before adding anything to it or the PS3 won't read
it.

Turned out to a compatibility issue with the memory stick, it was not working with a Sandisk but worked with a Kingston USB.
