Ok, here's what I have:

1) An HP MediaSmart Windows Home Server (ex475) with TwonkyMedia Server (5.0.2? 5.2.0? ) pre-installed and running.
2) Half a dozen ripped DVD's in the Videos folder. I ripped the VOBs and then used VOB2MPG to create a single MPG file per movie. Each movie is in its own folder.
3) In each folder, I created a file called "folder.jpg" (literally "folder", not the name of the folder).
4) A brand new PS3 Slim (to replace the PS3 that was stolen out of my home a few months ago.

Streaming movies works great.

What I want to see, though, is the cover art for each movie, and not a generic grey icon. Does anyone know if this is possible?

After some searching around, it appears as though it WAS possible with previous versions of TwonkyMedia, but not anymore?

Adam

Our software will stream to the PS3. I know you'll get cover art with music now, but I'm not sure about video.

You can find the latest build at the top of the MC14 board here:

A thread on this, DLNA, and Xbox is here:

Thanks for your response, jriver. Let me know when you find out if video cover art works and I'll consider it.

I'm also a customer of PlayOn, which recently added streaming of media to their product. When using PlayOn, I absolutely do get the cover images when browsing on the PS3.

I was hoping to get the same behavior in TwonkyMedia.

I don't know what the heck, but all of a sudden things started working for me.

I downloaded some movie posters from some movie poster website, and put each one next to the mpg, calling in "Folder.jpg".

I guess I needed to stop and start the service or something, but all of a sudden they showed up just as they should.

*shrug* Hope this helps someone out there.

Yes, twonkeymedia server should do what you want.
For a lot less dollars than J. River's product.
Especially when you consider J. River's policy of changing version numbers and forcing you to buy their product again to be supported.
