Hello everyone,

I was recently given a PS3 with a misplaced BD Rom Power Cable, the particular one that connects the optical drive to the motherboard.

I'm looking for ways to either replace or in the worst case scenario build one from scratch. Also, I have no electrical background.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to start?

Ok, so let me clarify:

I have two PS3's as of this moment, one for my brother and one for myself.

The one that I have is the one missing the power cable for the optical drive.

Now how hard is it to replace such a wire, without resorting to ebay?
Any handyman tips on how I'd go about creating one from scratch, or a breakdown of the different voltages on each pin? Like which one is the ground etc.

you wont be able to make one from scratch. i did a search on ebay for "ps3 blu ray power cable" and came up with two results for $3.50 a piece. it took me three seconds....

and again, follow the link that i posted. there are at least a hundred different guides on how to replace the blu-ray drive. just follow those guides until you get to the power cable, and then stop obviously.

Some people ask a question when they already know the answer they want. Then when a more appropriate, but different, answer comes along they tell you that you're wrong.

To the OP:

Why would you contemplate your making own when you have ZERO electrical backgroud? What's wrong with your brain? How about you just throw your PS3 in the garbage and go buy a new one....that's whats going to happen if you try to make your own power cable....
