Anyone looking to get the G27 Best Buy has it for sale at 149.99. It's already sold out online so you have time to go to your local best buy and pick up store stock.

Don't believe the "Available Only Online" part. I and another guy both paid 149.99 for them in store. But I did post yesterday that they were sold out and to hit the stores. I think you might have a hard time getting them now though. I don't think stores carry but a few and I'm sure they got sold yesterday.

I've been wondering what I'd spend my $120 in RZ certs on... Hopefully one of my local stores carries them.

Ran by my nearest Best Buy and picked it up. Total out of pocket was around $33, since BB treats the RZ certificates as a discount, thus leaving only $29.99 taxable.

They had at least 3 or 4 of them, too.

I ordered one online when I saw the deal, then got an email saying it was backordered. After following this deal on other sites, I went to a nearby Best Buy and found one with a shelf price of $149. Bought that one and canceled my online order. These wheels are in the COMPUTER section if you can still find any in store. For this price it is worth it to stick your head in and check for availability. Salespeople can check if any nearby stores have any in stock.

I am in no way a GT or racing enthusiast. I enjoy racing games but I've never had a wheel before. I tried playing GT TT with a controller and found that to be next to impossible, but I didn't want to spend over $100 on something I may not use too often. I saw this thread earlier this afternoon and called around and found a best buy that had 2 of them (after looking for 30 minutes I found them in the computer section).

I bought both of them and I'm currently ebaying one keeping the other. (Funny how a whole bunch of these have been listed on ebay today )

Wow, this thing was so much fun to use on GT HD. Driving the Ferrari with the G27 was so much different than using a controller, a lot more exciting for sure. I briefly tried burnout paradise and not sure the wheel is a good fit for that game. If I can make $20-$30 on the ebay sale a net cost of $130 for this item definitely feels like a steal.

I have a few questions about this wheel:

1. Does it work with PC gaming?

2. Does it work with Xbox 360 ? (I'm assuming it doesn't)

3. Does the wheel seem big enough? (for adult sized American hands)

4. Is the force feedback legit?

5. If you don't want to use the stick/clutch controls, do you have to? Do they get in the way?

I had the Microsoft brand force feedback wheel for the Xbox 360, and found it to be quite lame. The wheel itself was too small for my hands, and seemed like holding a cheap toy. The force feedback was very weak, and just didn't seem very convincing at all. Overall, I found it to be extremely disappointing, which was kinda strange, cause back in the late 90's I had Microsoft's sidewinder force feedback wheel for the PC, and that wheel was pretty decent. At least the FF was legit on it.

1) Yes
2) No
3) Plenty big enough for my American hands
4) QUITE legit. Blows the 360 wheel away
5) There are paddle shifters so you don't have to use the stick and you can use the stick without using the clutch. They stick is a separate assembly so it can be mount away from the wheel.
HOWEVER as of today the paddle shifters don't work for GT5:P.

I think the wheel is a hair small, like every other gaming wheel I've seen. Otherwise, it's utterly excellent.

So far, I've only used it for live for speed on the PC, with which it works very, very well. The only missing piece (for what I wanted it for) is the shift light array. If I can figure out a good way to use it from my couch, I'll probably get some NFS:Shift action going.

In most racing games, there is the option for automatic or manual. If you choose automatic, do you even have to use the paddle shifters?

Does anybody make a wheel that would almost be as big as say a real steering wheel in a honda accord or something like that? I mean like... say 85% to scale or something? I wish the wheel makers would make it so that you could screw off the wheel part, and if you want to upgrade and buy a larger size wheel, you could, and then you just screw it on and lock it in place and you're good to go.

If you want to use automatic then you don't have to worry about shifters or anything. Just gas and brakes. That's usually a game setting and all wheels will able to do that

There IS a youtube vid of a guy who put a MOMO wheel on his G27. I think he , or someone , makes and adapter to put on the wheel and then put the steering wheel on that.

Sweet... That's exactly what I'm talking about. A full sized steering wheel. I wonder how much they charge for that adapter thing.

I wouldnt count on it seeing as you have to plug it in for the force feedback.

My local store still has the G27 for $149.99. IDK whether they just failed to change the shelf tag or if they're just trying to get them out of the stores.

NFS: Shift is actually pretty decent, more so with the wheel.

It's no hardcore sim like some of the PC games, or even as simmy as GT5p, but it's light years ahead of any other NFS game. Some days, when I'm blasting around the Nurburgring in my 760HP M3, I might even call it "good."

The nice thing about it being slightly arcadey is that you can get the feeling of the cars being easily controllable despite being on the edge without the hours of suspension and tire pressure tweaking I've done on some of the PC games. Yes, it's more realistic to spend hours tweaking your spring rates, downforce, and whatnot, but it's more fun for it to usually just work.

They managed to balance it in such a way that if you drive like an idiot, you will still go flying off the track and die in a fire, yet it eliminates the absolute necessity of the hours long tweaking process to post decent lap times and get a good car feel.
