I wish I could download BF3! I keep getting the message that I don't have enough room on the hard drive. It's 12gb and I have 33gb available. What's up with that? I can't clear any more space & am not sticking money into a larger hard drive with PS4 around the corner. mad.gif

That stinks.
I guess I forgot the first ps3 was only 20Gb.

That's funny since the Last of Us is 21 gigs all by itsself.

I'm going to assume games will be smaller on the PS4 now that it has the compression stuff on a chip. Things can stay compressed on disk easier.

They're already compressed like crazy. Games are only going to get bigger.

I just upgraded to a 1 tb internal on my PS3 and I pre-ordered a PS4 on day 1. Just cause PS4 comes out doesn't mean PS3 won't have any games. Quite the opposite probably, since the free games for PS+ are always over a year old, there won't be much free offerings on PS4 for awhile.

Yup, just buy a PSN card or PS+ sub from Best Buy, Game Stop, or Amazon (digital codes sent via email).

After the network breach I've decided to not store my CC with them again, even though it's probably now safer than most places. But why bother when digital cards are avalible?

You can also add funds to your wallet via PayPal. That's how I do it . So any money a client pays me now on PayPal instantly becomes PSN mad money. biggrin.gif

^^^ That's how I do it, mainly because I avoid using my credit card whenever possible. I'm even buying Amazon gift cards every few weeks so I can use the balance to purchase my PS4 when it launches instead of the CC I reserved it with.

I don't think you can use PayPal directly from the PSN store on the PS3. You can go to this link on your PC, log in, click Account Management and you should see a PayPal option there.

Arghh I need to stop. Just got Arkham Asylum, Shadow of the Colossus, Deadspace, and the Ratchet series last week now I got the Prince of Persia classic trilogy plus The Simpsons and Xmen arcade games today. I missed out on the free Simpsons deal awhile back so I figured why not for less than 5 bucks. Still, man these sales are too good to pass up now that I've dedicated myself to digital only. I see no reason not to continue that route with the PS4 and it sucks there won't be compatibility to keep them there locally (not a big fan of streaming games). With digital games I seem to be converting over to the backwards compatibility camp a bit more.

I didn't know a PP method was available using that site!! That's awesome, saves me the hassle of buying PSN card codes, I'm not from the US so I even had to pay a few more dollars extra because places like Amazon will only accept US credit cards for such digital purchases.

Thanks man!

Once you go digital it's hard to go back. A few months ago, I started running out of room in the cabinet I stored my video games, so that coupled with the PSN sales for Plus members has gradually pulled me to the digital side. So nice not having to change discs any more.

I just hope Sony has a plan to turn their PPC indy games into their X86 PC counterparts on the PS4 store and allows us to download them, and/or gives us access to stuff we already bought, for free on gaikai.

Speaking of going digital and sales, some good deals next week for those of us who still like Move games:

I'll definitely grab Sorcery and Datura, though I may drop a game I was planning on getting in this week's sale that is expiring today.

Figured I'd post in here since I've read a lot of "hard drive full" "get stuff now" talk.

Staples has a My Passport Studio for Mac 500GB portable hard drive for $22.50 on clearance, in store only ..... it's just a regular 2.5 hard drive inside, you can just pull the drive and throw it into you PS3 from a nice and cheap hard drive upgrade and throw the the drive you pulled from your PS3 in the case for a bonus portable hard drive.

500GB for that price is a pretty good deal. I went ahead and got a 1TB WD drive from Microcenter for 70 bucks. Figured why not, I need the space and that price isn't really that bad. Now I have more room than I think I'll probably need for quite awhile.

Earlier this year, I shopped for several months to get a highly rated 500 GB HDD for around $50, and then when I was just about to pull the trigger on one, I saw a highly rated 1 TB on newegg.com for $75 and knew I would be better off in the long run, even if I end up putting it in my PS4 down the road. It's nice not having to think twice about anything I'm downloading, or worrying about quickly beating a free Plus game so I can delete it to make room for the next game I want.

Though I feel like I've gotten way more than my money's worth out of Plus in the past year, someone put together a very interesting comparison chart of the IGC games in the EU and NA:

There's no way I can look at that list on either side and get mad about it. I'm assuming whoever put that together was trying to demonstrate how much better the EU list is, but it just reminds me of a siblings fighting over who got more cereal...when both bowls are already overflowing.

Doesn't Europe's exclusives look far more impressive to you?!

It is to me, I don't think anyone wouldn't want US to get the same quality games Euro does.

I have no complaints about North America's Instant Game Collection. I'm perfectly happy to have played Red Dead Redemption back in 2010 rather than waiting until 2012; it cost me $40 more to do so, but that's fine with me. I would rather buy a AAA title when people are still talking about it than wait a couple years on the off chance I'll be able to get it for free with PS+.

That said, does anyone have any theories why games like RDR, ME3, and Arkham City were added to Europe's IGC and not North America's? Sony offers game publishers some fee for the right to put the game up for free; presumably the publishers feel it's worthwhile to do so in the European market, but not in the American one. Why? Is it because the game is still selling in America but not in Europe?

I suppose theres a few titles there that stand out....but they also pay significantly more for the service than we do.  50 Euros is like 65 dollars.  Not to mention they get hosed on EVERYTHING video game related. I'd hardly want to trade places with europe when it comes to gaming...so I say let them have this one little thing.  And I know this sounds strange but....I kind of prefer not have so many 80+ games on plus.  I'm more likely to just buy or own those games....any time we get one, I'm always like "oh wow, thats free?  Cool...too bad I have it already."  That would have gone for almost every single title the EU has over us. What I really like it for is the smaller, lesser known games that I'd probably never give a chance if I didnt get them for free.

In other forums I frequent, the general consensus is EU gets better PS3 IGC games, especially full retail games (no arguement from me), but the US gets better Vita games (no opinion, since I don't have a Vita) and better sales (PS Plus discounts).

Europe tends to get games on PS+ much closer to release than the US does. Sleeping Dogs hit the service very quickly compared to the US.

Europe gets more full Vita games too, in my unscientific study. Perhaps it's just me looking at the games that they get that we don't have, but not looking at the games we have and they don't. They certainly get more Indie games for free at release. Thomas Was Alone, Velocity Ultra, and Coconut Dodge were all free at release, but they cost money here. Also the DLC for Stealth Inc was free for two weeks at release and cost $3.99 here (but that might not even be plus.)

In spite of the fact EU gets three full retail games this month, I'm pretty happy with the August US update:
Quote:
Entering PS Plus in August (in no particular order)

  • Hitman: Absolution (PS3)
  • Zen Pinball 2: Star Wars Pinball (PS3)
  • Bit.Trip Presents Runner2: Future Legend of Rhythm Alien (PS3)
  • Machinarium (PS Vita)
  • Darkstalkers Chronicle: The Chaos Tower (PS Vita, Compatible with PS Vita)
