Picking up my Vita Borderlands bundle today from Target for $170 with the 15% discount in their Cartwheel app (ends tomorrow if anyone is interested).

So I will eventually get the 64GB card from Japan but I'll be stuck with the 8 GB card for a little while. I see that Borderlands is 5 gigs alone. Jeez. I'm on my laptop all day at work so I guess I can just swap games out as I need to, but I can see how that can be a PITA.

Can't wait to try the remote play from work. I have a good connection at home and at work, so I'm hoping it will be ok.

Need super quick advice:
I'm on mobile so don't have time to fiddle trying to find info on Reddit and have to order quick to get here before my road trip.

Just grabbed the vita after exchanging the PS TV. I need a grip and what else? What brand grip?
Thanks!

Did you get the new model? That's the thinner, 2000 model. It's the Nyko Power Grip. There are two different versions, so make sure you get the right one. Gamestop has it the cheapest at $17.

That and a memory card (or two, or three).

Yep I just grabbed it from Target also. Am also very Borat for it.
What's your PSN profile?

The Target discount ends Jan 10, I'm sure 1 day after return period expires there will be some crazy promotion of $129 lol.

Hahaha...

I'm on your friends list Dummy. HazeDG13.

They are trying to get rid of the bundles because they now have a Vita 2000 standalone.

Yes the Nyko power grip is real nice. Just make to sure to get the correct one. They have an older one for the older Vitas and the newer one for the newer vitas.

Yea, for some reason on the Gamestop website, people gave them some bad reviews. They say that the charging port goes bad on some of them.

It got much better reviews on Amazon.

Is there a case that can fit the Power Grip and the Vita into it?

Thanks.
That info would have saved me 15 min or more. I didn't understand why I kept seeing duplicates of items on sites. I didn't know the 1000 and 2000 were different sizes. Bummed that Monoprice only carries all 1000 accessories. They have a Nyko-copy grip without the battery for $5.

Anyone or everyone use screen protector?

I got the correct Nyko version as of all the cases and grips I think I'll just have to have the larger grip even though don't need the battery. But I probably should have gotten some form of carrying case.

I did some research awhile back and found someone posted this case showing his vita in it with a nyko power grip on it. I bought one for my son for christmas but with the power cord in the case it didn't really fit well because of the power cords brick thingy that it needs to plug into the wall.

Case : http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

You don't really need that ridiculous power cord that Sony provided. Any micro USB cable w a normal USB wall charger will work.

I got the Nyko Power Grip and mine was DOA. LED is dead. Doesn't charge my Vita and doesn't charge.

That sucks, hope the exchange goes easy enough. And you are right about the wall charger, I'll have to get him a smaller wall adapter.

So the grip fits in that? I guess if the grip fits than the vita can stay in the grip. Cool beans. Maybe it was providence I don't buy a case yet. Those I did shell $5 for a plastic clamshell just to hold games.

Yes, it does fit in the case without taking the vita out of the grip. We put my sons on the left side behind the net.

I don't understand, both the Vita and the Nyko have the stupid proprietary connector, how can you use a Micro USB cable? I'd love a different solution, because the Vita charger is very slow to charge the Nyko.

You must have the PCH-1000 (original Vita).

The PCH-2000 is the "Slim Vita" and has a Micro USB. They make two different Nyko Power Grips, 1 for each model.

I do. Wow, I'm surprised they ditched that proprietary connector. They should have gone to MicroSD at the same time.

That's why I've chosen the PCH-2000 (2nd Gen) Vita instead of PCH-1000 1st gen. 1st Gen uses proprietary charge port (WTH Sony, thought you stopped that game). The 2nd Gen Vita has a Micro-USB, so Nyko made the 2nd gen grip ALSO use a Micro-USB.

My intention is for my kid to play Lego games, which means he will eventually charge it, which means he'll eventually lose the cable. If he loses or internally breaks a Micro-USB cable...no sweat off my back!

Another thing you may not know, the proprietary connector is easy to insert upside down. It doesn't appear to do any damage, though you'll come back the next day to an uncharged grip and system.

I am most excited for the PS Vita version of SaGa that was announced last month.

I'm a huge fan of SquEnix's SaGa game series, with the PS2 Romancing Saga: Minstrel Song being my #1 favorite PS2 tittle and one of my favorite games of all time. Can't wait to see how SaGa turns out on the Vita!

Stand tall and shake the heavens...

I don't know how I've survived this long without a Vita. This thing has been no further than 2 feet away from me since I've gotten it.

Can you guys let me know what games you're playing? I'm a bit overwhelmed at the Free PS+ games alone.

Borderlands 2 is really good, so I've been focusing on that for now. I also am really liking The Swapper. Really cool puzzle game. I've always been a big fan of Pixlejunk Shooter, so that's awesome that there's a Vita version. I am a little underwhelmed at the graphic quality of Resogun. Other games like The Swapper and Borderlands look awesome, but Resogun looks way too "blocky".

Yeah, Resogun was ported over by a different developer (Climax) and for some reason (not just graphics imo), just isn't that fun. However, Super Stardust Delta was actually made by Housemarque and is every bit as good as the PS3 version (if not better).

There are so many good games available to new owners, that it would take quite a while to list all the worthwhile ones. But I play a lot of indies on my Vita, that I probably wouldn't bother playing on a home console. What types of games do you like?

Of the bigger budget games, the ones that made the fewest compromises going portable, were Killzone Mercenary, LBP, Wipeout and Virtua Tennis 4 (I don't think LBP is native resolution, but it still looks fantastic). Even though you just got your Vita, hopefully you've been grabbing the free PS+ games since the beginning (specifically Uncharted and Gravity Rush). If you have, you probably don't need to buy a game for a good long while.

Dammit, it looks like I missed out on adding the November 2012 games to my collection. They were Uncharted, Gravity Rush and Wipeout. Damn good month for Vita, bad month for me.

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2012/...es-to-ps-vita/

I just returned my DOA Nyko Power Grip and got the Nerf Grip / Case for now. It's pretty good for everyday, as I am currently just sticking it in my jacket pocket in the morning on the way to work. It provides great protection, while your playing which is and added plus. Haven't really gotten a chance to test it out for more than a few minutes yet. I'll get another Power Grip eventually.

There you go @Cravit8

None of the games that @Mikazaru mentioned are there.

I Guess I'll pick up Wipeout.

Official Playstation Vita Thread

Thanks for the update. Just booted my Vita for first time and am trying to get it ready for our road trip.

Please tell me there is a sane(*edit) way to view all the vita titles I own in the Playstation Store.

The "save game" file policy also confuses me. If I have a 8GB card in while playing a game cartridge, where does the save go to?

When you go to the PS store and go to "Games" there was a little pop up thingy I believe on the bottom right which showed the games i had been queueing up for my son.

Most of the time, the save is on the memory card - 8GB in your case. A few of the early games had a small amount of space reserved on the game card itself for saves, but I don't think many if any use that now.

If you have subscribed to PS+ (and if you haven't, you should) you can also upload saves to the cloud. But this will have to activated for each game individually. Once turned on, it will auto upload.

I Guess I'll pick up Wipeout.
I think the one on sale is the PSone Classic version (it's compatible, but not as good Wipeout 2048). Sorry, should have been more specific. Unfortunately, Wipeout 2048 isn't on sale, but Little Big Planet (LBP) is though.

Also, though I couldn't really get into it, a lot of people consider Persona 4 Golden THE must have game for the Vita (you have to like jrpgs). And I forgot to mention Tearaway -- it was made specifically for the Vita, but was so well received, it is now coming to PS4.

Of the other games on the list, Dragon's Crown is a great side scrolling beat'em up and Lumines (Tetris-like puzzle game) is worth the asking price (not the $40 I spent). I'm thinking of getting the Ratchet and Clank Collection.
