Not sure how much interest there is for this, but there is a new multiplayer gameplay trailer out. Looks like every other COD game for the past 4+ years. Of note, the killstreaks are now called "point streaks" and are related to points not kills (duh). That seems like a positive change.
Looks exactly like MW2 down to all the fonts and in game popups and action. Even think I heard Ghost from MW2 with exact same UAV line.
Points? any joe schmo can run to the domination flags over and over and get tons of points without even trying to play or kill anybody. That will get old real quick. Thats how someone can be at the top of the list in games like KZ3 with a few kills. It takes no effort or strategy. The point system seems like a step backward to me.
After 8 kills you have all the perks? real challenging...
will definitely be skipping this, wasn't planning on it in the first place, but now there is definitely no way I'd spend money on this clone. Not even used or bargain bin.
thats call of duty for ya. same crap every year. just thrown in some different maps and couple new guns to keep people happy. and they charge 100 dollars for the elite edition LMAO. how old is that engine now?
The only real advancements were done by Treyarch when they put out W@W and needed larger environments.
I'd be more interested to see what the new studio (the old IW guys) is doing. They might be able to actually make something interesting, like MW was, now that their hands are less tied.

Wait, what? It takes far more strategy, effort, teamwork, and talent to cap a flag or hold a point then it does to camp behind a door and spray people in the back. As the other guy said, this attitude is exactly why COD multiplayer has been such a crapfest, and is exactly the reason for the much-needed change to pointstreaks.
I think I'm one of the few people still playing MW2.
As for MW3, I don't really see what will motivate me to purchase it. The commercials I've seen for it show a single player campaign that looks EXACTLY like the MW2 campaign.
I'll probably make the jump to BF3 this time around. I'm looking for better designed multiplayer maps that incorporate a little more strategy.
I'm thinking the same Kevin. I've purchased the last four CODs (and enjoyed them), but it's starting to get old. I tried out Bad Company 2 just recently and was impressed. The sound is so much better than what I was used too, and the gameplay was...refreshing.
I may get MW3 eventually, but probably not until BF3 and Uncharted 3 get boring. If initial impressions are right, that could be a long time from now.

Oh no, your absolutely right. What I'm saying is, how many people actually use teamwork strategy, effort, or talent to capture flags? Sure maybe you and I do, or want to, but thats about 1% of all players on Call of Duty games.
I'm all for teamwork and strategy. Problem is, 99% of people who play COD are not. Which is why I think this system won't work.
And its not fair to say my attitude causes COD to be a crapfest. Your attitude is just as much to blame if mine is. You play COD and so encourage these kids to play with no direction then your just as much at fault as anyone else.
Maybe the point system works maybe it doesn't, personally, I think were gonna hear a bunch of spamming complaints once it launches.
Either way, I don't wanna argue it because I'm not getting it For the reasons I've listed. No point in you and I going back and forth, we'll just have to see a month or two after the game launches.

domination is a great mode to get lots of kills. cap the first two flags and trap the other team at the other flag. that's why i play domination. and obviously, this strategy leads to many victories. btw, conquest mode in bf plays out the exact same way. so really, there's no argument here.
I would agree, and add that it's the same for sports games. If you play with people you know it can be a fun and rewarding experience. With random online it's usually a cheesefest, full of spammers and exploiters that will quit once they get down by a sizeable amount.
Ya I read what you said and your mis-use of words is the problem. You insinuated that players can freely capture flags at will without any resistance from the other team. Regardless isn't the point (objective) of domination to capture/hold flags? By the sound of it your one of those guys that call people campers for defending the objective. Sure I understand that there is those that only do it to up there k/d ratio with no intent on capturing, but I am not one of those.

Yup I was one of those "campers" on MW2. All I played was domination and as the other guys went after more flags I would defend one. Very easy to do with just one person. Couple of kills in one spot you move to another ETC. Takes some skill to do it and get nukes LOL
I'm going to buy the game and play some multiplayer but I have to admit I'm not nearly as excited as I used to be about a COD release.
Heck my favorite maps are all COD 4 maps and at least with MW2 we had some of those, now gotta start all over with new maps that won't live up to the originals.
