He's carrying Native American-looking weapons so I wonder if he'll be made to be half-Euro/Colonist, half-Native American in his blood lines, possibly introducing a line of Native American Assassins into the AC lore.

Don't forget all the others that are involved, we could easily see other areas of the world involved... French Revolution, The Modernazation of Japan, plenty of options for global travel.

One thing I hope for is a leap of faith in modern times out of a skyscraper. (the only escape to crash through a window, plumet to the streets below and just before impact, a truck full of hay drives by.)

Washington was a templar according to the previous games, so expect some interesting betrayals.

I'm not sure how it happened, but I--easily one of the biggest AC fans around--have lost absolute and total interest in the series. Ubi has already milked this series to death, and they've completely lost sight of what made the series so fresh, exciting, and revolutionary.

It's entirely possible that when they reveal what they're doing for this game, my interest will return. But at this point, Ubi will be fighting an uphill battle with many longtime AC fans.

Looks pretty good, but please dont turn Washington into nothing but a good guy, he was a Templar in the previous games, but making him actually have depth would be interesting, maybe something of a Lelouch and Suzaku relationship...

No gameplay footage, no dice. Unless they can finally do something new, I don't see the point.

While I won't deny that Ubisoft has definitely milked the Ezio storyline, I've found each installment so far has presented just enough upgrades in terms of gameplay, graphics, and design to make it fresh and exciting enough to keep me more than interested. It would be hard to expect the same kind of revolutionary leap from AC1 to ACII in each and every installment of the trilogy. I have a bigger problem with the rushed Revelations release that resulted in a lot of bugs.

Only time will tell what "revolutionary" changes and improvements ACIII may bring, if any. But if it's basically more of the same with the new opportunities (weapons, environments, mission types) the new setting/character will provide, I'll be very happy.

when i first learned of the setting and time period, i thought meh. but after the trailer i thought of making that "yeeaaahhhh!" sound after that cop puts on his sunglasses. i was totally looking at this the wrong way before. but now i can see that this is going to be awesome.

500 gigs FTW.

it's not game play quality. but it was rendered in engine, not cgi.

That was no more "in engine" than the original Killzone 2 trailer was. Toned back considerably from high-end CG, but most of the animation, movement, and textures are beyond even what consumer PCs can handle. Only a few sections of the trailer look close to what might be possible. Instead of "CG," we can just call it "generously pre-rendered."

I would like to echo what you and Confidenceman have said: the AC series has lost steam, I was disappointed by Revelations. I think Brotherhood was the high point, although AC2 and AC:Brotherhood had lost the ability to effectively play it immersively without a HUD, I've referenced Confidenceman's Guide to AC1 on this topic elsewhere.

I bought AC:Revelations for $20 new because I had a coupon and it had gone on sale and I felt that was worth the price, despite another unsatisfying ending and not including the AC:Embers video. I couldn't be bothered to pick up the DLC nor try the multiplayer: I traded it away.

Now, despite all of my griping, I have some hope for AC3 because of the game director's interview I saw last week. He had worked as creative director on Spore, has been leading the team for two years on AC3, and has aimed for a really early alpha so that they could spend a lot of time polishing the game. That guarantees nothing, but it gives the game some potential.

So I'm going to pull a complete 180.

There was a recent press event for AC3 that showed off a lot of what is going into this game. It's the same core team from PoP:Sands of Time, AC1, and AC2. They started work on AC3 after finishing AC2, while other teams went to work on the two AC2 spin-offs. That definitely assuages many of my worries.

I'm excited.

Here is Eurogamer's full preview:

There's now a gameplay demo that shows the tree free running in action, and it's not far off from the CG trailer...

Here's an article on the game that suggests the game has a lot more Colonist killing gameplay in the Revolutionary War than the early previews reveal. I was interested in this being my first AC game after seeing E3 footage, but it looks like I'll pass on it.
