I just got a ps3 like 10 min ago. So heres my question. Its connecting at about 5-6mps (I have tried wired and wireless close to the same) and my laptop is at 9.something. Why does it not match. I usually get 15. its downpouring outside so maybe thats slowing everything down. But why are they so far apart? The ps3 is ontop of my modem and router (basically)

The download speed is dependent on the speed of the PSN Store. My PS3 downloads are usually slow relative to my available download speed too.

I don't see that on my PS3. wink.gif

I've had Steam on the PC cap my dload speeds as well. It's not up to us to be able to max it out from online vendors who limit the transfer rates unfortunately.

PSN is finicky. Don't worry too much about it. You'll drive yourself nuts. Do what you can on your end (network settings, etc), but don't go crazy.

I get slow store and patch downloads and slow trophy syncs, but gameplay is unaffected (since it doesn't rely on Sony's network). However, I get speed readings on my PS3 comparable to my PC and 360 (~5Mbps). So it may actually be an issue with your home network or ISP if you're getting a different reading between different devices.
