Some beach!! So I bought the first dlc that came out today. I haven't played in quite a while and just remembered I went to ng+ And not that far into ng+. Dlc is accessible a bit into the game. I guess I go for it in ng+ or start a new character. Either way it will take some time to actually play the dlc

Which game series are you playing again? Dark Souls is it?

Yeah as a seasoned veteran you know ish don't come easy in the Souls series!

Artorias of the Abyss was like that to right, hell IIRC one could even screw up the exact sequence of events to get the abyssal port to open up, thus being forced to finish off that NG just to have another opportunity to do it right. Lol.

Yeah, Dark Sous II. The new DLC (First of 3) just hit..

Haha, good point. They waited until I went to NG+ to announce the DLC.

I don't even know how people figured out the Artorias of the Abyss on their own. I had to read up on how to access it. I doubt I would find the Dark Souls II DLC either as I would have no reason to go back to that spot normally..

Bought the game last week.

Brutal again! (I played Demon's Soul and Dark Souls previously so I knew what I was into)

I'm stuck on the first boss.. can't seem to beat it. If only I could summon someone but I don't see signs and can't figure out how to.

Use your human effigy, have to be human to summon.

Or if you found a soapstone(don't need to be human to get summoned), use it to get summoned, and help the summoner. When you're transported back to your world, if the summoner or yourself have not died, you will be in human form.

Are you human form? If not, that could be an issue. I think most have NPC summons as well.

I think I was hallowed the whole time, hence why I couldn't summon...!

I haven't found the soapstone but know where I can now so I'll probably do it tonight.

I was able to get summoned quickly and beated the boss so I turned Human again.

Spent some time farming him since I was getting summoned really quickly. Farmed ~70k (5-6k a pop with my kill for ~10k). Bought some gears and some levels upgrade.

On to the next challenge!

I also joined the Blue Covenant and got invaded. My blue protecter was at 1/10 of his life when he joined... but we still won

It's definitely still a cool game, glad to hear there are still plenty of low level players out there for you to interact with as well.

I was worried at first and was happily surprised by how quick I was summoned

Maybe the DLC convinced people to replay the game or the drop in price (now 39,99$ regular price where I am at least) was enough for people to bite (like me) and IIRC, it launched the same day as Reaper of Souls (D3 xpac) hence, why I skipped it first. But now people are bored of RoS

The announcement I've been waiting for:

Dark Souls II is headed to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One next year, complete with DLC, a visual upgrade and a bunch of gameplay refinements.

Set for an April 2015 release, Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin will include The Lost Crowns Trilogy DLC, made up of Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King ans Crown of the Ivory King.

The new-gen versions of the game will also feature will updated visuals, rebalanced gameplay, a higher maximum number of players in online games, additional and more challenging enemies, a new NPC, "expanded lore" and new in-game events.

But it's not just PS4 and Xbox One owners that get in on the action. Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin is also coming to Xbox 360 and PS3. It includes all the same stuff, minus the visual upgrade.

Existing owners of Dark Souls II owners will also receive the aforementioned gameplay improvements as part of a free patch.

Good thing.

I finished the game ~ a month ago. I don't plan on picking it up for PS4 or the complete edition for PS3 but it might make bite the bullet to a friend of mine for PS4.. but I think he'll ragequit before finishing the game

1080p60fps I think puts me firmly in the double dip camp. Nice that there are other changes as well plus all the DLC that I didn't play yet.

http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2015/...adbpr=36969785

How Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin plays on PS4

We check out the new bells and whistles in the PS4 version of the action RPG sequel

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on PS4 adds the expected technical improvements to FromSoftware’s acclaimed action RPG sequel, but also remixes core gameplay elements to give veterans a reason to dive back in.
The jump to PS4 has given developer FromSoftware an opportunity to paint a more pleasing picture. The native 1080p resolution, upgraded lighting effects, and cinematic filters give the game a richer, cleaner look compared to the PS3 version.
But the biggest improvement comes from the improved framerate — 60 frames per second according to Bandai Namco representatives. The increased fluidity translates into more responsive movement and combat, a major advantage considering the game’s famously unforgiving difficulty.

Then there are the gameplay adjustments. You won’t be able to rely on your memory to cakewalk the PS4 game because some enemies and item locations have been changed. Enemies will follow you more tenaciously, even through fog gates — a terrifying, potentially ruinous side effect of PS4′s expanded RAM pool.
Some weapons are also being tweaked. I noticed that the Fire Long Sword, a powerful early-game weapon that saved my butt countless times on PS3, seemed to be way less durable in this version. In other cases, a producer told me, weapons that were largely overlooked may be easier to find, or be adjusted in other ways.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin on PS4 also includes all previously released Dark Souls II content expansions: Crown of the Sunken King, Crown of the Old Iron King, and Crown of the Ivory King, so there will be no shortage of things to do and monsters to kill.
All in all, I was pleased with the refinements and look forward to dipping my toe back into the cursed world of Drangleic this April — just as soon as I’m done with Bloodborne. Is 2015 the year of FromSoftware?

Never played DSII because my PS3 died. Loved the original DS game. Thinking Bloodbourne will probably make me pass on DSII though, not sure if I can handle two types of that game back to back.

Blooborne is a must for me. I will probably double dip sooner or later. I haven't play any of the DLC so that will at least be new.

I would have bought Dark Souls day one for PS4 as I like the world more in terms of art design and graphics, atmosphere. I really like Dark Souls II a lot as well just not up there with the first for me.

I tried to watch some of that, all I got was the games were almost identical and you had to strain to see a difference.

Yeah, basically looks like resolution and frame rate upgrade. The texture assets weren't great to begin with (dark souls 1 looks better, wish we got that for ps4).

I think they changed the contrast and they definitely changed around enemy placements, though that doesn't mean it is better.

I beat this game in 360 last year and currently playing Bloodborne , so the only way to replay it on PS4 are the DLC s , I know that after playing Bloodborne graphically DS remaster will be a let down no matter the 1080 60 fps , the game still looks bland so it seems I will wait for a price drop to get the remaster.

For the ones that never played DS2 this is a great remaster since it includes a lot of new stuff.

Logged 2 hours so far. Well the texture work is a bigger improvement than I expected. Well in some areas. It is kind of hit or miss, some areas have nicer textures and some don't look much better. So far the framerate has been very nice, it feels more responsive for sure. I can't vouch too much for enemy placements and all that yet. I just killed the new hippo in the early area by Majula that wasn't there, he wasn't too bad. First boss was easy and should be for anybody who has played before. It helped that I made a run for the fire sword immediately and had that before facing him, but even without he is very easy.

I almost forgot about the contrast, the opening area is bright. I should have uploaded a picture of that. It looks nice, I could see some say it isn't as dark and moody but I like it. Don't expect dark areas to be the pre-release build. Yeah, you can light them up but it is still kind of flat looking and still plenty of flat looking areas. The opening area with this picture looks good and Majula looks good. The bland hallways still look bland as well though.

I did encounter one knight looking guy guarding a door, He looked very good. A lot of the early characters are just kind of ugly zombie looking dudes.

This really makes me want Dark Souls 1080p 60fps.

Image from the very first area.
