Trade in credit. If I could have jumped on the trade in credit deals on the 360 and PS3 I would have put a pre-order in at gamestop since it would have covered the entire cost of the PS4 by trading in my PS3 and one of my 360's..

I can't believe they will be selling that many in the first year. I don't really pay attention to selling trends in video games. Is it normal to sell a million units in a month?

Not only that but you can pay it off. That is convenient for a lot of people that don't want to try and have $400 on the day of.

Amazon has a trade-in program also. And from what I've found their trade in prices are a lot more reasonable than Gamestop. They even give you a free shipping label.

As far as paying the thing off, you can do that with amazon gift cards. I've already payed off my Xbox1 and will probably do the same for the PS4 closer to launch.

I've got a Gamestop about a half mile from my house and haven't set foot in it in over a year. Last time I went was to pick up a charge kit because mine was busted and they were all out.

Now you tell me.

I still have one 360 that I didn't trade in... I'll have to check it out.

The Wii U moved 890k in the US from launch to the end of November, so yes, it is very possible. (43 days from the US launch to the end of December with over 3 million shipped) No reason Sony can't beat that considering they are starting production much sooner.

If you can take advantage of the gamestop trade in deals (50% bonus for going Pro or 30% bonus towards next gen), then gamestop is a no brainer.

Amazon currently offer $93 in credit for a 250 gig 360 slim. I was able to get $202 from gamestop for my 250 gig (with the 50%) bonus. hell, even without the bonus gamestop is still a better deal for console trade ins most of the time. Actual game trade-ins might be a different story. Here is a quick reference:

Can be kind of hard to miss. Go to the Video Games section and there is a small tab in the top left corner.

You choose to trade in the game/system and they'll let you print a shipping label. You then have 7 days to ship it. Starting out, you'll receive your credit a few days after the item arrives so they can check it, but after you've traded enough stuff for them to trust you, they give you credit on your account as soon as you click the trade in confirmation.

And here's a link: http://www.amazon.com/Video-Games-Trade-In/b/ref=sv_vg_13?ie=UTF8&node=979418011

You may be right on the consoles, but games (barring any kind of special gamestop is doing) are almost always better at amazon.

Agreed, I remember buying Bioshock Infinite off of C-list for $40 a week after it came out and trading it into amazon a week later for $45 credit.....

Amazon doesn't charge you a penny on pre-orders until the PS4 actually ships out the door, they don't charge a sales tax, and they are a much more reputable retailer with a much larger number of units in stock.

Seems like a no brainer to me.

With Gamestop I can snag my PS4 at midnight on release day if I'm inclined. Even if Amazon ships overnight the day before your at the mercy of the delivery person. Tax may be a counterpoint but it weighs against convenience.

Surprisingly GS offered better trade in values for hardware and most of the games I traded in.

But at midnight there will be a very long line. So to be anywhere near the front, won't you need to have been in line for several hours prior?(or eek.gif several days prior?)

Amazon has about as close to a sterling reputation as you can get, will have way more units in stock, doesn't charge a sales tax (and with a $400 games system, that can save you about $30), doesn't charge you anything until the system leaves the warehouse, and provides launch day delivery right to your doorstep.

I turned my back on GameStop years ago.

I have no interest in running to the nearest GameStop at midnight and waiting in a jam-packed line. I'm not a total fanatic.

I'd much rather save $30 and have it delivered to my doorstep by noon-1 PM the next day. UPS/Fed Ex delivery is very consistent where I'm at.

I am buying a Playstation for the first time when the PS4 is released so I am excited to try another console. Truth be told, I have have the Xbox One pre-ordered as well.

There are some Sony exclusives I really want to play (Journey, The Last of Us, Heavy Rain, Little Big Planet, to name a few). Will I be able to play these games on the PS4? Curious to know if I should start buying these discs now or not. Thanks.

The PS4 will not be backwards compatible. Your best bet is to wait for those games to be ported/re-released for the PS4.

Depends on what they do with Gaikai. Sony may open up the entire catalog to the PS4.

Check around November for a cheap PS3. Easiest way to play all of those games and a lot of people will be wanting to dump them to get funds for next gen.

Gaikai won't cut it for hardcore gamers, I highly doubt they'll be able to put out a system that truly eliminates lag issues which is big deal for most genres.

They should just slowly add "PS3 classics" to PSN for the most popular games, this will also be good for future backwards compatibility if they decided to keep on using x86.

With a decent connection, there's no reason to think Gaikai will be an issue with the games he listed. It depends on the genre mostly I'm guessing.

I don't know about you, but even if I can manage to play through the game with the lag since it isn't that fast paced, I still hate the sluggish and unresponsive feeling, that's a deal breaker for me.

This option won't be available outside of US anyway at the beginning (I don't live there), we'll have to see how things workout there and how many servers are they going to use throughout the states to get an idea about the general latency people get playing remotely.

We haven't tried it yet on the PS4 so it's difficult to comment on the overall experience at this time. It's still fair to say I think that any latency issues will be less noticeable playing some genres when compared to others.

I am really surprised the release date is 12/31/2013. It seems they could have made it out before Christmas.

From what I've read the date is only a placeholder. Guy I work with seems to think its coming in batches like the iPhone does when it gets released but I haven't ran into sources for that idea yet.

That's not the release date.

It's just generic since Sony hasn't said anything beyond "available this holliday season".

It'll be out by late November/early December.

There's no way Sony would miss out on a Christmas release.

I think a late October launch would be cool. Why not get a slight jump on the comp ?

If the hardware is ready and they can have enough Software then I would think they should as well. As it is, I am not convinced they'd have enough softwware ready in time. It could be a pretty big negative to launch with a very anemic line up of games.

I'm not sure what the expected launch (not launch window) offerings will be yet, is there a list?

I want Watch Dogs, The Division.. not sure what else yet. As much as I liked KZ2, KZ3 left a sour taste in my mouth for single player and I haven't been convinced yet for the new one coming. I want Motorstorm frown.gif

I wonder if Sony puts out incentives for company's that put out games by launch or close to it considering the install base is so small initially.
