You might want to download the Freebies on PS+ immediately. Some games might be expiring later today as freebies. I thought I saw an article on that.

Nice! See that I don't mind but adding like $200+ onto the price to make it like $700+ is just stupid and I hope they are just stuck with it.

I wish the DS4 had a rubber texture under the grips.. I like the feel but it's so chunky that I feel like it might be easy to drop now.

I've dropped my DS3 so many times I stopped playing BF3 with it because my gun would fire when running or it would throw a nade for reasons that the L3 and the triggers were somehow messed up.. I found hitting the controller would stop me from throwing nades and stuff.. I did not want to buy another DS3 with the PS4 being so close.

I sure did miss playing online

Yup, the growing pains were really never about the network itself, just everybody trying to sign in at the same time. Authentication and the social stuff went down because of too many connections, but gaming was always working.

Authentication servers went to crap because there's no logic in beefing them up for 2 million concurrent connections, then having all that excess during normal use where maybe 50-K100K are singing in at any given time. Unfortunately it's the

Surprisingly their data servers also were fine, with no one having issues downloading the updates and only small decreases in speed for game data. Seems like they were able to spool up more severs for that, but for some reason not authentication. Unfortunately this is just how major service launches go, since you can't stagger the rollout and planning for the worse case is not cost effective.

Yeah, I wasn't willing to spend too much over. The $400 base price point is pretty damn impressive as it is.

I bet there are some after market things you can buy for the controller or will be soon. I have one DualShock threes where the dpad sometimes goes off on its own so it makes it worthless for a couple games I play that rely on d-pay.

The pinball game? I've got Regosun downloading in standby now
freemeat's Avatar freemeat 11:39 AM 01-07-2014
Not sure which ones. I just would download whatever you want now, you can always delete. As long as you download them in during the time they are free you should be good to go after the expiration date.

Yeah I know way better then the PS3 price.. I only got the PS3 Slim 3 years ago the 160GB model.. and that D pad issue would drive me crazy..

OH speaking of d pad.. I thought you could use the trackpad for text entry? The tilt feature is slower then using the dpad for me.

I haven't even tried the trackpad yet for text entry. I'm so accustomed to the slow data entry that I keep forgetting to see if there is a better way.

It would make too much sense to be able to use the touch pad for text entry. But alas, it doesn't work for that. It doesn't work for the browser either. Go figure.

Hmm Playstation Now sounds like it will be outside of PS+ in regards to payments. Additionally it sounds like titles you own wont have a means to be added to a collection (kinda ********). Ugh, will have to wait and see how this plays out, but PS3 may be living in my entertainment center until I get sick of Uncharted & TLoU.

Biggest thing Sony will need for this to succeed is a strong, stable and well balanced network. Extending access to more devices is also really sweet.

I'd pay a bit more for my + account if I could stream games I already own to PC's or tablets to play but I won't be renting anything new for the PS3. lets see that they do

I was finally able to purchase a PS4 from Amazon last week and delivery is estimated for later this week…Woohoo!

I finally found one by periodically checking Now In Stock. Whenever Amazon popped up as available I repeatedly refreshed the PS4 Amazon page until I was able to complete my purchase.  I had a couple dozen instances where I added the console to my cart only to almost immediately get a message from Amazon that the item was no longer available, but I persevered and was ultimately rewarded for my efforts.

I remain perplexed that Sony hasn’t announced an extension cable for the Playstation Camera.  Not only to make some additional cash from the accessory, but also to avoid all the negativity from folks who bought the device just to find out that it is useless in their set up because of the proprietary connection.  Not to mention the additional money to be made from folks (like myself) are ready to throw down some cash for it right now.

I was really hoping for an announcement by Sony at CES that a software update was forthcoming that would enable compatibility between Sony’s Playstation Headsets and the PS4.

PS Now sounds great in theory but I'm guessing it will be a huge letdown, for me at least.

Unless I can insert my PS3 disc into my PS4 and start playing the game where I left off on my PS3, then it is useless to me.
I won't be renting PS3 games and streaming them.
I don't want to pay extra for games I already own.

Before PS4 was released, and the rumor that it was exactly how I mentioned, I was excited.
Now, I just don't see them putting in the infrastructure money so that gamers like me can play their old games.

It would be nice, but I doubt it.

So playstation now streams to PS3, nice. I wonder if that means they'll also enable you to use your PS3 as a PS4 remote play box.

My thoughts exactly.

If the Vita has the hardware to manage remote play, why not the PS3?

All this news is pretty exciting, but I am skeptical. Sony has a long history of over promising, so I want to see if this is actually going to be as good as they say. The tv stuff they mentioned sounds great, but until they offer sports channels, I will never cut the cord.

i cut cable a couple of years ago and although it is hard and sometimes i have to go somewhere else to watch games (like the game last night), i don't regret it at all, it is too much money to spend per month (IMO) for a channel or two that i will actually watch..

I can understand that, but I guess different people have different life styles. We cut the cord for about 6 months last year and my wife hated it. She couldn't stand not watching the shows she wanted to, when she wanted to watch them. My kids on the other hand wouldn't really care, since you can always find something on netflix and amazon for them.

I cut it because of the commercials. Been commercial free for about 5 years now, I've been smiling ever since.

According to Sony, gamers who own disc or digital-based games will not have access to those games via PS Now free of charge.

So that's that..

Can't see this working unless the service is like $10-$20 a year

Didn't Sony announce today that they had sales of 4.2 million PS4 consoles through December 28th? That is a huge number and still has three more days left in the year to add to that figure. With the way the PS4 is sold out they will probably have exceptional sales in the first quarter too.

EDIT: redface.gif I guess I'm a little late redface.gif

I would love to cut cable and save $70 or more a month, but convincing non tech savy people that Netflix is good enough is not easy...

All the shows I watch regularly are streamed for free the very next day online, and the rest are old and I either own them or Netflix has them.
SubaruB4's Avatar SubaruB4 01:23 PM 01-07-2014
Hey I have a question, I was given a 7 day PS+ code and it worked, but just signed back in and I lost my PS+?

*edit

Hmm Odd it somehow showed back up.

Yes, that was announced today. Sony can't keep up with the amazing demand so far. I wonder when I'll be able to walk into a store and see PS4's in stock.

We had several shows that didn't come out on hulu, so we would have to pay for them on amazon to watch them the next day. While it still saved us a few bucks, the ease factor starting adding up, so we decided to just go back to direct tv.

yeah my wife was very skeptical at first and didn't really want to do it, but between hulu, netflix and amazon she ironically watches more "tv" then she ever did with cable.. and now she has no desire to go back to cable..

We dropped cable and haven't looked back. It sucked the first couple days or weeks but is much better now. No commercials and no waiting for next week/season unless were on a current show.

Hulu sucked. The content for LGBT was too much and couldn't be filtered. At least Netflix puts that all in one row that is easily skipped. Their trailers were good but eight bucks a month isn't worth it for that. The biggest issue we had was the current shows. Many only had the newest episodes so if we got behind you'd miss episodes.

Netflix has a great selection which I use to watch older shows in entirety that I've missed. The wife has a few newer shows but I snagged Playon and put a couple plugins on it that solves that. Found out about Plex after buying Playon so I'm not sure how much Plex does. Between Playon and Netflix its rare we can't find a TV show or movie we want.

We don't watch sports but I can see where that would be an issue. Playon offers NHL and NFL logins maybe even MLB but I obviously don't have any of that.

What shows? Most I have wanted to watch stream on that channels website for free.
