Could be. I guess that is what happens when you launch in several countries.

But it's alot more than several. Aren't they up to something like 50 countries now? While MS is still only selling the XBOne in 11.

The way things are going it seems like it will be many, many months before Sony will be able to catch up with demand. Of course that is also a great position to be in.

True, I am not sure how many for each but I recall it was quite a bit more for the PS4 than the Xbox One. Definitely a nice position. Both are doing quite well it seems.

Hopefully it spurs more development of good/great games as they see the install base grow.

I was using my Android earbuds for a bit, not sure on chat with them. Apple buds may work. Now I'm cabled up with my expensive Pulse Elites.

If you just want audio then any headphones with a 3.5mm jack will work. The earbuds Apple provides with its iPods and iPhones work. People have said the iPhone's set works really well since it includes a mic.

I now have a gaming headset and also the PS4 camera. I dont mind using the camera's mic array, but considering it is ALWAYS listening and I reluctant to.

Sony really did miss a few items on their launch list that would've made the console even better. Only time will tell though.

Speaking of earbuds headset, what would you guys do?

A50's or grab a OLED PSV instead?

I'll eventually get both, but only going to buy one as of right now.

I have the A50's, currently out in repair though, for 100% wire free I think they are great. Is it my top choice in sound category, no, as I still prefer the PC360s over the 3 headsets I have but add no wires and they are now tied for the overall score. I like the Plyr 1 sound more also but they sit on my ears vs over my ears and right now they have some weird issue where people will have a hard time hearing you. I am using them now while the A50s are out but I have them wired like on the 360 which allows people to hear me better. I am dealing with Skullcandy now to see what the issue is, they make it sound like I am the only one.

I traded my XB360 for the A50 and was lucky enough to score the BF4 editions, I guess the EQ is not the same and designed more for BF4.\

Edit - so to answer your question, what would you use more? For me its the PS4 so I would go with the headset.

Sony is up to 54 I believe (another launch happened today) and there are still a few more planned through February. Outside of the US the PS4 is backordered into March. In the US the new shipments sell out within 24-48 hours still. The Japanese launch marks the end of the rollout on the 22nd of February, bringing the total number of countries close to 60. Shortages won't end until after this point.

Microsoft is at 13 countries with no announced plans for the next wave of launches. The system has been readily available for purchase since two weeks after launch in all 13 regions. Day One editions are still on store shelves and ebay prices are well below msrp for new products.

Oddly enough, the Wii U was largely sold out this Christmas in the US, the December NPDs should be entertaining to watch unfold.

Man, that demand imbalance is brutal. Can't imagine the sales gap 3 months from now. The PS4 out the gate like a champ and is still gaining momentum.

If you really want a new OLED Vita, you should act soon. The stock (in Canada anyways) seems to be drying up.

I need something with a Mic since the mic from the camera doesn't sound right in chat. But the mono ear bud that comes with the PS4 seems to work fine for me. But I will need to get something so I can have a backup or use the PS4 earbud as a backup. I actually like the earbud better than something like comes with the XBOne(at least as far as the ear part). Because I don't like having my entire ear covered because I need to hear the audio from the right side of my 7.1 system.

Those looking at headsets...

For laughs I tried my old official PS2 USB headset on the PS4 and it works (just in case any of you have those collecting dust somewhere).

Of course it works on the PS3 as well but I did not expect it to work on the PS4. smile.gif

Anyone successfully getting 5.1 from netflix when output settings are set to LPCM? I can't get any movie to play in 5.1. My only way around this is to change the settings to bitstream (dolby) and then from the netflix settings, change it from 5.1 to stereo and then back to 5.1. Somehow this resets the audio from the movie and everything plays in 5.1 and my receiver then displays dolby digital plus, weird, but it works.

Try turning on your receiver first?

the sequence of whether I turn my projector, pre/pro, or ps4 first determines if I get the lpcm or a stereo signal which is then displayed as multichannel or dolby digital plII respectively.

Netflix 5.1 audio is borked on the PS4. The surround channel audio comes out of the front channels. Until they fix it, the PS4 is the last device you want to use for a Netflix title with 5.1 audio and a surround sound system.

I tried the Pinball game they had with 3D and that actually looked pretty good. I'll need to check out this Trine 2.

You can also hear the same info in a surround system. That's why I've always preferred to play those games on a 5.1 or 7.1 system. I've always had a harder time playing on a system with only stereo audio since I can't hear people coming up from behind me.

Up until I picked up my headset I only gamed with a decent 5.1 (then 7.1) sorround system...and the headset still boosted my K/D ratio substantially.

I've only used 5.1/7.1 virtual surround headsets so I can't comment on any improvement with stereo.

100% agree, in BF4 you will definitely reduce and almost stop getting knifed from behind, you can hear everything with a good headset.

While running Games through my 5.1 Denon AVR 2113 sounds fantastic, I can hear so much better with the headset. I find the subtle sounds get lost in all the explosions, gun fire, etc. like the foot steps of the guy trying to knife you, or the guy running on the floor above or below you.

The quality from a headset will always, in most cases, be superior in audio, but for me, having 3 near field subwoofers and full on surround just isn't the same experience through a headset.
