If they are smart, they put Adam Boyes in charge of the E3 speaking duties. He seemed the most natural and genuinely liked video games.

I wonder how many video game execs actually like video games. Tretton doesn't strike me as someone that every played a game for leisure.

That would make sense. He was brought in as head of publisher relations, so he knows how to talk to devs and did a good job whenever he did presentations.

Agreed... Boyes would be a good choice. It'll be weird watching E3 without Tretton though.

Shawn Layden (Jack's replacement) seems like a pretty decent speaker too.

Looks like they used the extra time to properly tweek the software...

http://www.psu.com/a022714/Watch-Dogs-PS4-to-run-at-1080p-confirms-Ubisoft----report
Quote:
The PlayStation 4 version of Ubisoft’s open-world hacking title Watch Dogs will clock in at 1080p/30fps, the publisher allegedly confirmed during a press event (via Arab Gamer).

By comparison, the Xbox One edition of the game will run at 960p/30fps, while the PC version performs up to 4k in resolution with varying framerates.

News comes following confirmation that Watch Dogs will be released on May 27, after previously being lined up to hit stores last November alongside Sony and Microsoft’s new home consoles.

In addition, PS4 and PS3 owners will be treated to a special hardware bundle due out alongside the game at launch. The pack includes a 500GB console, a copy of the hotly-anticipated action-adventure title, and a DualShock controller.

Now they just have to make the graphics not look like its on the NES

No. Game installs to HDD for faster access, but you need the disc to play the game.

Maybe they should have kids!
I find it hard enough to turn my back when the boys are in the screen room. Sure would be nice to hand them the controller and walk away, no disc handling required.
I guess I do have the download option but I like to support local business.
The internet certainly has its downsides.

I agree. My kids lost my BF4 Xbox one disc, so I had to buy a new one. I will start going digital now since I don't trade in games anymore.

Actually I don't see why they couldn't enable this for disc based installs to convert to a digital copy, just by changing the files installed. Sure the DRM can't be distributed through all the game files, and even it was it should be simple to make modifications.

Would be great for those of us that don't have fast internet for 10GB+ downloads.

Does the Xbox One work in this way? Maybe someone should tweet Yoshida about it, he's always been very receptive about ideas from gamers.

The gamers "lost their minds" about the way MS originally wanted to do it because they didn't want to give us a choice.

Because that setup meant that when the servers went down, every disc would be a useless coaster. That is why their preorders were complete crap pre 180.

Microsoft, in their initial reveal of their DRM policy, wanted the dollars for the original game purchase (which they're entitled to). Then they wanted a cut of the money from a trade in, or an ebay sale, or to charge a fee to a person getting a used game as a gift. To top it all off, the original system had the ability to limit the number of players, on the same console mind you, to a certain number and then charge a fee for additional player access. There were not nearly enough worthwhile benefits to balance out such a smothering DRM scheme. Aside from turning a loaned game disc into a timed demo, or a download into a timed demo when you sign into a friend's console, what exactly were the benefits?

Before someone hops in and claims that game sharing is the reason why their initial "vision" was so grand from the gamer's perspective, the lack of that feature in digital purchases off the Xbox Live marketplace is telling. If that was truly part of their vision for the future to benefit us rather than a carrot to bribe customers to give up what they've traditionally enjoyed with physical media, why is it not in place for downloads?

And as for not requiring discs, you can already accomplish that via buying the title in question directly as a download and you can even enjoy discounts. Many titles can be purchased as download vouchers from retailers, deals on MS points aren't uncommon, and digital deals directly from Microsoft are becoming increasingly commonplace. Savvy customers don't have to pay MSRP just because it's a download.

Thank Heavens that Sony has paid closer attention to the taste of their customers this generation and forced Microsoft's hand away from their initial anti consumer plans.
