A bunch of things happened at once but Plus on PS3 is what really got me on board with a digital future. I had a few indie type 360 games digitally but until I got to switch between full games so quickly I wasn't on board. Its been nice to go from a SP game to a MP in seconds and be playing with friends rather than minutes later.

Yea cost sucks...can't disagree about that at all. This part makes me selective between disc and digital. Speaking of which, my new dilemma is Wolfenstein. Got it on disc and now have it beat. Its only worth $25 Gamestop trade. I could trade it off and get less than half what I paid or hang on to it, plat it and trade it later. And this is where I hate trading. You have to play it fast and beat it quick to recoup a decent value. Sometimes I just want to enjoy a game and not care about trade values or return dates.

Now for the xbone, physical all the way unless something absolutely amazing comes along. Probably a lot of older used games too. I just don't see myself buying a new, sealed xbone game...ever. It'll probably happen but nothing on the horizon that's for sure.

Screw gamestop, sell it on half.com for $40 (you'll net like $34 after fees), you don't even need to leave the house.

Not that it's that relevant here, but other posters have done it.

I just picked up an Xbone for $300 complete with Kinect off of Craigslist. Poor kid wanted a PS4, so I did my part to help him acquire one.

I don't have any games for it, I'm just going to get some in from Gamefly. I figured now was the time to buy because you can get them cheap with Kinect, and if I like Kinect I can keep it, otherwise I can dump it later on the used market making my Xbone cost effectively even less.

I liken that to someone offering me a slightly inferior PC to one that I already have.

I don't think I'd take one at any price at the moment. Exclusives are the only games I would play on it and there aren't enough of those to justify the cost (yet) , honestly their exclusive lineup for next year is pretty weak as well so I'd be looking at late 2016/early 2017 at the earliest before I would consider it.

Its ok to mention it as long as you compare it unfavorably to the PS4

Congrats BTW. That's about what I wanted to spend out of pocket for one. I kind of wish I had the Kinect for voice control but so far neither Kinect 1 nor the PS4 camera has worked very well and arguing with a camera across the living room isn't my thing.

Technically you do have games. Killer Instinct is a decent fighter. There's a top down Halo thing that reminded me of a cheap Dead Nation. And there's some platformer too which quite honestly looked the best out of the games I played. That's all in the Plus style thing Live has.

I'm really tempted to do a comparison from a game on the PS4 to the same on a bone. Just don't want to waste money. Could do a demo I suppose.

So this isn't a complete derail, anybody picking up Valiant Hearts? Looks cool but I may hold off.

I bought an Ouya about a year ago just for this purpose. My brother and I played some Metal Slug with it during Easter this year. Was fun, and much more convenient than using a PC. Paired with multiple DS3 controllers flawlessly. I haven’t really touched console emulation since the original Xbox softmod days, and this was even easier.

I likely will; I found Child of Light highly enjoyable. Though I'll probably wait until I've made more progress in Watch_Dogs before starting Valiant Hearts.

The best part of the Xbox was having a modded one playing tons of arcade games and Nes, SNES, etc..

I was more excited for Destiny before the alpha. Not that it wasn't great but because I got to play it. I'm sated for now and it kind of deflated things a bit. Looking forward to it but unless the beta transfers anything over I don't think I will spend much beta time. Definitely don't want to burn out on it before I get it. Guess its like watching a bunch of movie trailers where you kind of feel like you went and saw something.

I see that firmware 1.72 just came out.

Any word on updates or improvements?

One thing I noticed is how much quicker it boots up from standby. Not that it took to long last time but now its about 3-4 seconds from beep to home screen.

It seems to be getting faster with each update. At launch it took 30 seconds or more to go to and from standby, less than 10 on 1.71 and now it is lightning fast. These updates may be small, but looking back... very nice improvement.

No improvements to netflix audio, just checked. You still need to select bitstream in the main audio menu in the PS4 in order for it to play audio tracks like DD+ . Otherwise it defaults to PCM

I tried the Demo of Child of Light this weekend. Not sure if it was working right. Is there supposed to just be text and no voice when a character is speaking?

For PCm it should be decoding the DD+ anyway. I just know at least now it works properly. With Netflix when I play a two channel track I get two channel audio. When I play a 5.1 track I get 5.1 audio. I just wish all the other apps would do the same thing. Instead I get 2.0 or 5.1 inside a 7.1 wrapper. With no way to manually select 2.0 or 5.1 output to compensate. Instead the output erroneously stays at 7.1 from the other apps. Hopefully, eventually things will be setup for output like the Netflix app.

Yep, classic RPG style. There isn't a heavy story, so you'll probably have 3hrs of total text/dialogue. Rest of the game is mainly traversal and combat, which is turn based using the action bar. Worth the $15 imho.

Turn based RPG? I think I am going to have to try this game out.

Google also tells me this is coming to the Vita next week, so maybe cross-save/cross-buy... I think I would have to buy it then.

Yes the combat is turn based. Easy in the beginning but it gets harder and makes you think while in battle. I didn't get to finish it as another game came out but I've been meaning to finish it. If the vita gets it and it's cross buy/save I will happily finish it on my vacation. I really enjoyed the game and would recommend it.

Nice, the demo for Strider is pretty decent I just didn't want to drop $15 on it.

I'm sure I'll download Dead Space 3 and it will set there collecting dust.

Play Dead Space 3 with a co-op partner, and then

I'm all in for Dead Space coop. I never got a chance to play DS3 so this is even more a bonus!

Strider was interesting but like others, I didn't feel the need to plunk down cash. This takes care of that problem haha.

Strider... another Plus game that I haven't finished before it went free. Doki Doki didn't grab me from the demo either. Good that Muramasa is going free, especially because it's one of the best games on the Vita (definitely the best looking) and there's still two more DLCs to come out for it, so I won't have to disc switch.
