I'm not comfortable enough with those unanswered questions to buy digital on PS4. OTOH, short of a nuclear apocalypse, I think it's safe to say PCs will exist 5 years from now, so I'm on board with steam/origin/whatever. I'll def reconsider buying from PSN if it ever goes cross platform.

You're not saving the trouble so much as pushing it down the line. I learned that lesson just in the nick of time....a year ago it was inconceivable that I'd ever want to play games on anything but a PS4, and that changed very rapidly for me. Having all my 360 games in a physical form that I could resell and convert my library to digital PC games was worth every bit of the annoyance of swapping discs all those years.

Whether you buy a PC today, an Xbox tomorrow or a PS5 a few years from now....one day you will move on from the PS4, and chances are you won't be able to play those games without some amount of inconvenience.
When I move on to next gen, the previous gen will be basically dead to me. I still have a 360 and I've turned it on a few times to play Forza Horizon. But that is it. I don't really have much desire to play any games on older systems. Of course backward compatibility is always nice though. So maybe when the next gen comes out the digital rights from the old system will transfer to the new one. Whether it does or not though, I am fine with it either way.

I bought a bunch of Apple stuff across two phone gens then went Android ditching what I'd previously bought. So in essence I lost out but got a ipad for work and most was still usable. Digital has a cost no doubt but depending on content its a cost I'm willing to pay.

Yeah, same here. Bought some mac app store stuff, went back to windows and can't use it. Bought some iOS stuff, then bought similar Android stuff, then went back to iOS. It's annoying, but we're talking about apps that cost a few bucks at most. I have higher expectations from a $60 game than a .99c app.

It's really frustrating for some games - I'm def buying COD:AW this year and I still can't decide which platform to buy it. I'd rather play campaign and quick MP on my PC, but most of the time I'd going to want to laze on the couch with a controller and play MP. And that's not gonna fly with COD on PC. Even if I bought both, I still can't maintain a unified profile....sigh. Most likely I'll just buy the PS4 disc and resell it for the steam version when I get sick of the MP. If I could buy it digital on PSN but still play on PC, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Yeah, it was the only cod I never bought any maps for. I thought the game was fine but I had no one to play with on PS4. It's actually the only PS4 game I bought, and I totally regret buying it digital.

Got mine digitally and I don't mind the digital aspect. Still play it some but you die way too fast. Lag a frame and dead. I remember being able to at least grab cover in previous COD. Love love love infected mode!

Hopefully you won't end up regretting it. It is a little more cut and dry on console than on PC....truthfully, if I had to actually dig out an old console, controller and disc to fire up an old game that still looks the same as it did years ago, I'd never do it.

I'm down for a "COD:Ghosts Game Night" whenever you guys are up for it. Nexus talked me into purchasing it so I picked up the digital Gold edition that included the first map pack like 5 or 6 months ago and we only got around to play a few games of the coop. I've barely touch the MP.

I prefer a weekend night but just say when...

Back in CoD huh? How is it on the PS4? I have it on my XBOne since I used the deal they had to pay $10 to get the XBOne version after getting it on teh 360. Although I can't say that I've touched Ghosts in a while. After playing Titanfall, Ghosts just didn't really make the cut.

Well, yes and no. Yes I picked it up because of the Gold edition deal but have yet to play much of the MP. Did complete the campaign which was ok but so far it has been a waste of dough. Wouldn't mind giving it a shot here and there for some casual games if a few of us play. Not interested in playing the MP solo.

Back in June, Ghosts made me use ebay for the first time in a while. I've played all the CoD's but there's something just not right about the multiplayer in that version. I gave it 6 months and played it quite a bit but it still felt off somehow.

On the bright side, Ghosts and ebay did well together: 30-something for Ghosts and I bought a sealed copy of Watch Dogs a week later for $41. That kind of deal takes away the sting a bit.

Wow! Ghosts only sells for $33 brand new on Amazon for the PS4.(For some reason the XBOne version is even lower at $22). Of course Amazon still has the PS4 digital version of Ghosts for $60

It was about 5 weeks ago so I went back and looked at the recipt: I made $32.00 from a used copy of Ghosts and I don't know how either. Gotta love that ebay captive audience I guess.

BTW, anyone interested in a 3 month gamefly code? I believe can only be used by new or lapsed members, but I'm not 100% sure. My wife keeps buying me these things and I never use them.

I'd let it go for $30 paypal or steam funds. (like $20 off normal price)

So Gamefly rents movies now? I just checked out the site and it still had my account info. I used to be a member years ago but eventually cancelled my account. Although I have used www.3d-blurayrental.com to rent some games for the PS4 and XBone. The price is similar to gamefly. But I'm not sure if they have the selection that Gamefly has.

EDIT: I see they have more shipping centers now. When I had used Gamefly before they didn't have a shipping center near me. I'm not even sure if they had multiple shipping centers back then.

I can't even play Final Fantasy XIV thanks to the downtime... The game is one of the few that is "always online" and needs Sony's servers active to let you play. Oddly enough, PS3 users can play, so this is a targeted attack on the PS4.

The "hackers" even admitted they were fanboys targeting Sony over Microsoft... even going as far as to make a bomb threat to force the President of Sony's flight to divert...

The attack allows most of my digital stuff playable.
I've bought all my games digitally on the PS4 and I can play everything but the addon content. I wonder why that is? If the PS4 can see that I downloaded the main game why not the addons?

It was PSN. I couldn't get on my PS3 for Netflix and PS4 for FF but I was able to play FF periodically. On the flip side I beat TLoU and started on the DLC.

Thanks @lodolfan
I was about to post the same.

I'm currently online with chat support filing a complaint in order for the user-base to be heard.
My request is simply that the 24-hour (or whatever it is) check in for licenses be extended, maybe to 3 days?
Most of you have not been affected except for multiplayer use, but for anyone running a 2nd PS4, absolutely nothing digital works.

My PS4 would either take five or six minutes to get past the initial loading screen yesterday during the outage, plus it would straight up freeze if I tried to sign in an offline only account with a second controller. Unplugged my network cable resolved both issues (and I left it unplugged too, because I was wondering why I couldn't connect to remote play at work or see that it was preloading First Light.)

Yea I think half working is worse than not working. My guess is that digital purchases work offline correctly. When they can see Sony's servers but not update from them is when problems come up, like during a DDOS attack. I'd bet if those who had issues would have pulled the plug the digital licenses would have worked. I wanted to test out Ground Zeros at some point since I have it digitally but got distracted. I can't say I've ever had issues with digital but the outages are rare and I usually have a disc game I was ignoring anyway.

Curious whether the Netflix app on PS4 works any differently than on my Panasonic TV, i.e. better streaming audio?
