My troubleshooting so far: I have tried a different HDMI cord, connecting the PS4 directly to the receiver and directly to the tv (Sony KDL70W850B) with no change. I have also gone into the PS4 settings and changed from Linear to both Bitstream options will nil relief. I know its not a fault with the PS4 as it was outputting surround with my old amp and speakers. I have tried turning off HDMI passthrough, changing the receiver settings from AMP+TV to AMP, changed audio settings on TV to play only through audio system not both tv and amp also. Does anybody know of any issues or possible troubleshooting?
What are you playing when you are getting Stereo. If you choose Bitstream (Dolby) what does your receiver show when you are in the home screen?
