I don't even care about the freebies really. I play online and its costs to do so. Right or wrong it is what it is. Not saying the Indie stuff is awful. Normally its a game I'd have passed on but we are getting into year two so something a little meatier should shake loose. I know Injustice did but I already owned it and its a fighter. Give me Knack at the very least.

Hm PSTV is tempting but I'd need the bundle since I have no controllers so that kind of shoots this down.

I'm actually surprised to see how many people in this forum are talking about not resubing because the free games aren't to their liking. I personally am not much of an online player, but I can't imagine not having full access to every game I buy and play should I choose to jump online or access certain features that require connecting to the game's servers. Not to mention, like TedSeattle stated, the few free games that I actually play, the discounts, and cloud storage make Plus membership pay for itself.

I'm pretty sure the DS4 controller works with PSTV if you don't have a DS3.

I barely use my PS4 as it is. The only game I'm looking forward to is uncharted 4 and that's not an online game.

Oh no...my PS+ sub isn't going anywhere. I do play online every day. They want me to pay and give me indies in return...ok. Can't play online without it so oh well its my cost to have fun. Now the interesting thing is how little I play the free stuff. Take Loadout and First Light (different but same) their both free. I've played each a bit yet I go right back into playing something I paid for. Free is like the old pirate days, not that I did any of that ahem, but there just seems to be a mental thing about using what you pay for and ignoring the free stuff. Unless you REALLY wanted the free item.

Before the launch of these current gen systems, I would often let my PSN sub lapse because I frankly never used my PS3 online (I was a 360 guy mainly, had a PS3 for exclusives). Now the tables have turned. I had a Live sub for 10 years straight, and it lapsed last August. I have not felt the need to renew as I just don't have a use for my 360. I'm sure if I ever get an XBOX One I'd get Live again, but I have no use for it right now.

People do have their reasons for not renewing, though being disappointed in the free games lineup isn't something I would cancel over. I often don't care for many indie games, but tend to really dig the music in them so I play them anyway. Hotline Miami had a great soundtrack, too bad I thought the game itself was awful.

Sent from my computer because I don't know how to delete signatures from an app.

When is UC4 coming out? I'm holding out until then to get a ps4 bundle since my OG phat is still going strong and still does things the ps4 can't which is infuriatingly stupid.

It's not really the free games so much. I don't play online as much as I thought I would and by the time I get a chance to no one is on. Most of the games that are free I either already have or I'm not interested in playing them. Since I don't need a sub for things like Amazon or Netflix, paying for something I don't use doesn't make much sense.

I was a 360 guy last gen as well but now even my One sits mainly unused. I wouldn't cancel over the free line up either, and to be honest I already paid for psn for the next two years so we are in bed together for a while.

As a fellow 360 to PS4 user, you really won't like that DS3 in the Lego Bundle. Ergonomically DS4 is fathoms better.

Both DS3 and DS4 play wireless on PSTV afte pairing via USB cable.

I got an email saying UC4 was Oct 31.

The free games was really the only way I could justify keeping it despite the fact that I rarely used the PS4. By now I was hoping there would at least be a few big PS4 exclusive games like killzone or whatever, but we still don't even have driveclub! It burns me a little that I'm basically forfeiting the ability to play my PS4 version of COD:AW online, but for the price of the sub I can buy it again on PC. And it's not that there havent been a lot of great indie games on plus, but I already own the vast majority of them from humble bundles and stuff.

I think it might be time for me and the PS4 to part ways anyway. I bought it because I thought it would be everything the PS3 was and more, but even basic stuff like bluetooth headset support is still MIA. I kept it thinking I'll at least need it for all the exclusives, but now on either side exclusive only means "console exclusive", while PC gets everything. Even putting all the other PC stuff aside, it's so much simpler to deal with just one platform that works with everything rather than juggling two current gen and two last gen consoles.

I wonder though, for all the people who are still console only, do you feel like the PS4 has lived up to the hype? Like do you feel the PS4 was everything you wanted it to be? Or is it still a little disappointing but still feels like the better of two options?

I'm console only because I'm tired of the upgrade costs with PC. I can't say whether the consoles have lived up to the hype, but this is the most fun I have had with a console since the original Nintendo was released. I do not miss adjusting parameters in my PC to make a game somewhat run smoothly. The ps4 and One have met my expectations graphics wise unequivocally.

As excited as I was when the PS4 first launched, the constant barrage of game delays and/or games releasing unfinished has left me with this simple answer: NO, IT HASN'T LIVED UP TO THE HYPE.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my PS4 for games. Well, the games that haven't been delayed or launched broken. As a gaming device, it works adequately. However, Sony has one of the most unreliable, wonky networks on the planet. Issues with their network that I had at launch I still have, such as messages not loading during games, friends lists appearing blank, etc. It seems that they still haven't figured out that people want access to that stuff quickly, not in 20 seconds. What's the use in setting aside RAM for the OS if things still take 20-30 seconds to load because a game is running in the background? Honestly, I feel like they haven't changed a damn thing server side since the PS3 launch. It just feels antiquated. I haven't used an XBOX One so I don't know if it's any better, but Live has always been more stable than PSN.

After a year on the market, I'm surprised there isn't that MUST HAVE game on either console. Sony really ramped up before launch, and even though I didn't buy into the hype all that much, that ramp up ultimately led to nothing. It just sort of fizzled out. For all they promised (still no suspend game feature while in standby?), they've been coasting along for a while now.

As for PC gaming? I don't think I'll be going back to it any time soon, mainly because once I start tweaking stuff, I never stop which ruins the enjoyment for me. I may build a rig near the end of the year for 3D animation/video editing that I could also use for the occasional PC game, but likely it will only see gaming use if a game I want launches on the PS4 completely broken.

The X1 OS feels a lot slower in comparison. Bouncing between areas just seems to be sluggish as compared to PS4. I think the PS4's wifi card is it's weak point; only stuck at 2.4GHz leaves it competing with everything wireless within a 30 mile radius. Not sure why Sony didnt bother for a better card option.

I do have my PS4 hardwired which helps a lot. The NIC in the PS3 was junk as well. I was actually surprised when I got my PS4 on launch day that it couldn't see my 5GHz network. After going hardwired I'm getting the majority of my download speed (28MBps vs. the 10MBps I was getting via wireless. Same static IP and everything).

All this negative talk makes it sound like I'm ready to dump my PS4, which isn't the case at all. I just hope Sony will get with the program soon and deliver on the stuff they initially mentioned.

The PS4 has not lived up to expectations, but I fully expect it will improve. It took the PS3 a few years, but it became a great console; I'm sure Media Molecule and Quantic Dream will do fabulous things with the PS4 in the next few years, things that won't be available for the PC, and I'm perfectly willing to wait.

One thing about Sony, which is good/bad, they allow their studios to just operate and as such there is zero pressure to release the exclusives at any given time. I believe UC4 would've launched last year if they hadnt had as much studio turn around. To a certain extent I personally am glad the exclusives aren't launching every week/month else 1. I'd never play them all and 2. I'd be in the poor house

Gaming always does this after new consoles drop, and very slow trickle leading to a flooding of games that generally go unplayed (looking at you Ni-No-Kuni). Hopefully between The Order and Bloodborne some people will get their appetites satiated.

That's the thing that bothers me the most about this gen, the way it was such a hard break from the last. Like a PS2 could do everything a PS1 did on day one, same for PS3/2. They just played games, had no online to speak of. Then after a super long PS3 gen, the PS4 broke compatibility, broke the ability to play with your friends, and half the functionality was gone. Just as the ps4 is getting good, then they're going to do it again? I don't want a part of that cycle anymore.

Yes. I am absolutely loving DriveClub and when I get a little burned out on that I play PvZ:GW. I've enjoyed Infamous:SS and FL, Resogun, Tomb Raider, and several other games as well. The streaming (Netflix/Amazon mostly) has been much improved over the PS3, which suffered in terms of quality comparatively. I really would like HBO GO to come, so that's a bit annoying.

But, if you aren't enjoying it, you might as well sell it. Life is too short to spend time and money on something that isn't paying off for you.

ANd I've always felt just the opposite. Because with the XBOne I'm going directly to where I need by using Kinect and not using my controller to do it. But with my PS4 I am using my controller to navigate which takes longer and makes the UI seem slower to me.

As far as wireless, they were behind with the PS3 too. They stuck with Wireless G in the PS3 and never upgraded it. I was shocked when I tried to connect my PS3 to wireless and couldn't. And then found out it was because they didn't have wireless N. So I guess the PS4 is more of the same by not including 5Ghz wireless N. WHich I had not realized until you mentioned it. So hopefully this time, when Sony comes out with a Slim version, they upgrade the wireless in it.

I'm hoping they come out with a SLim PS4 later this year. I will pick one up for a secondary PS4 if they do.

I sorta feel the same way. I was hoping to retire the ps3 once I got the ps4 but that just hasn't been the case. I actually use the PS3 more due to dlna support that the ps4 lacks and still no decent remote solution. Since launch I have only played Second Son, Trials, KZ, the rest has been on The One or PC. I can't stand the PS4 controller. I'm so frustrated with having to recharge it so often, and its uncomfortable to my hands so that alone makes me favor the Xbox One. Basically the same scenario as the last gen. The PS3 always had a graphical edge, but the controller sucked so bad I bought everything for the 360/PC.

I've also got a bad taste in my mouth after losing two PS4's due to hardware issues, and my controller fell apart. I find the PS4 runs hot and loud, and the Xbone runs whisper quiet/cool. Sadly the Xbone has its own issues as well, some crippling like controller disconnects. I am not saying in any way that Xbone is the winner here, I actually feel that both consoles are a fail this gen. I just don't feel that either of these consoles were made by gamers for gamers, but made by management for management. The cut corners and made cheap consoles that can't even do 1080p properly.

I however LOVE the uncharted series. I could never forgive myself if I sold the ps4 and could not play it.

Bought PS4 and sold the PS3 with games, controllers and remote and never looked back. I get about 8-10 hours out a controller and don't really miss a separate remote but it would be nice to have. Love Far Cry 4 and eagerly awaiting Uncharted 4. Trying to decide if I want to play Dying Light or The Order.
