True. and it is an easy means to add more content. fixes etc. However i has become more than common that game devs launch a title half complete and use this as their crutch for getting the game finished. Just wish devs would actually not depend on this as their means of finishing the game.

Might give it a go this weekend! Concerned with the bad reviews though, but since its f2p what's the harm.

We should all play on the same server in the same Alliance. Just started a vanu character on crux server. We can always play other Alliances on other servers too. I would like to have one of each Alliance to see what the differences are.

Hmm, Planetside 2 sounds interesting. I might need to check it out. Worth it? (I know, it's free, but if it's bad, it's not worth my time!) Performance OK on the PS4?

Was playing it earlier with no problems. Seems like they are getting it dialed in a lot better than the day 1 lag

I don't imagine the PS4 players and PC players exist on the same servers, do they?

No. For some stupid reason other games do this but the former Sony dev does not...

No but you'd think Sony would have wanted to put everyone together. Its stupid how we can't have cross plat as the standard. Might not be easy but several games do seem to manage it.

Mouse vs controller in a shooter is a big gap in capabilities, so no fun to have them share servers.

Maybe. There's lots of PC people using controllers. Still seems like a copout. My concern with PS only on Planetside is the community. PC tends to be around longer...

I watched a comparison of Battlefield 4, PC vs console, and BF4 has an auto-aim feature for the console version. He described it as something that changes gameplay to some extent. I can't imagine it'd make sense to mix the two, but might be fun to see what happens. Would PC users be OK with their opponents using auto-aim?

Auto aim or not, you just can not turn around anywhere near as fast or accurate with a controller.

Using a controller(except with Nintendo) was basically foreign to me in 2005. But I liked console gaming so much, after getting a 360 that year, that I stopped PC gaming back then. Now I could not imgaine ever going back to a keyboard/mouse for gaming.

I'd like a ps4, but it's yet to have a game that's a "must have." UC4 may change that, but it's still frustrating my phat still does things (and has a remote) the ps4 doesn't.

Sent using Tapatalk since the mobile version is still [emoji107]

With the DLNA update, there's not a whole lot that the PS3 does which the PS4 cannot anymore. I can't think of anything off the top of my head.

However my PS4 fan isn't that loud. The only game I notice it kick into high gear is with Witcher 3.

There was a good article in Wired many years ago where a Bungie team member described all the ways that Halo "assisted" the aim of a player using a controller.

Can't find it at the moment but this link serves as a good synopsis:

http://www.halopedia.org/Aim_assist

Quote:
There are four types of aim assist in Halo titles: Snapping, Friction, Acceleration, and Magnetism.
  • Magnetism defines and outlines how far a bullet will "bend" in order to hit an enemy. Bullets and projectiles do not necessarily travel in a straight path; they will curve very slightly in order to hit a target. Different projectiles will experience different curvatures.
  • Snapping reorients the gun barrels toward enemies whenever a player's reticle are in proximity to their target.
  • Acceleration makes it so that when the player pegs their aiming stick in one direction the player's reticle will start moving slowly in that direction then pick up speed.
  • Friction slows the player's turn rate as soon as their reticule passes over an enemy. What it does is that it slows the player's top speed, and then dramatically decrease the rate at which the crosshair will slow down when the player release the stick.
From what I recall the suggestion at the time was that all FPS games on modern consoles employed similar techniques to some extent due to the inherent lack of precision of the twin stick controllers.

We can't ditch aim assist though...how's a teenager hopped up on Red Bull with Mt Dew chasers ever going to quickscope in COD?
