So will the PS4 take the Sony bluetooth headset that I have for my ps3? I like the look of the ear bud, but I would love for my wireless headset to work too.

Sweet. It can get a bit uncomfortable, so I am glad they are giving us the ear bud set up. I just wonder how easy it will be to mute it. Eventually, I will end up with a wireless surround sound headset just like I have now for the 360, I just don't want to spend that money right away.

It looks like there's a mute switch for the mic on the cord....I'm pretty sure that's the mic itself.

I'm sure that between that one and the bluetooth, I can hold myself over and then just get a surround sound headset for my birthday.

Hands down the best visuals I saw at E3 was in this PS4 tech demo from Quantic Dream (extended version below). Note that the entire clip is confirmed to be 100% in-engine on Sony's new console. The quality of the facial models, lighting, special effects, even the feathers is astonishing:

Someone from Gamefaqs went to E3 and said that Infamous Second Son is running at 1080p 60fps. Not sure how much I trust him, but it does make me hopeful for other games.

So is Dark Sorcerer a game, or just a demo to show what the console is capable of?

Dude, are you made of leprechauns? Cause that was awesome!

Just a tech demo. QD said in some E3 interview the game they're working on now isn't related to the Dark Sorcerer.

Heavy Rain started off as a tech demo like that. It was a mock audition.

Yeah, QD likes to proof out their engines and tech first it seems. From what I've heard they're working on their next IP for PS4 and wrapping up Beyond: Two Souls.

Before BTS was announced, this was what they put out to show the transition from their last game they were shooting for:

I can't find any videos for the E3 edition of the indie first-person puzzle game, The Witness. Here are some screenies though:

The interesting stuff starts towards the end, when they talk about the demo and show some changes they can make on the fly. Summary:
Quote:
  • Running at 1080p @ 30-90 FPS, textures are native to 1080p resolution, framerate was not optimized
  • 1st generation of QD's PS4 development cycle
  • They did not use PS4 tools, they used their PS3 development pipelines (same as Beyond) and just used high fidelity assets
  • Only 4GB of dat GDDR5 is being used
  • The set is 1 million polygons
  • The lighting is dynamic as is the shift between the film lighting and the studio lighting, which they are able to shift back and forth within 1 single frame

Rundown for the a GAFer who was there and who was impressed:
Quote:
But then he started to change the lighting with the controller. To move the camera around in full 3D. Zoom in and out to see amazing details like the characters eyes. He started turning shaders on and off. Then he went into wireframe mode to show off the models. He had them do different animations like pushups to show off the cloth simulations for the clothes and hair. Because we were the last show of the day he had plenty of time to go through it in detail.

I could not compute. It was real. This is the single most impressive realtime 3D graphics demo I have ever seen in my life. I have been to many E3's and even SIGGRAPH. Never has my jaw hit the floor so hard. I put my face right up to the huge hidef tv screen to look more closely at the end. Still looked real. There can be no debate here people. #TEAMCG is happening and in real time on PS4. And it is not Kojima that is delivering. It is Quantic dream. This really deserves alot more attention than it is getting. Especially after what happened with the TeamCG vs TeamReal debate.
The Quantic Dream guy listed how they made this in 6 months using tools from the Beyond pipeline. And that it was not even using the full memory of PS4. He also pointed to their pedigree, and I have to admit, Beyond looks better than many next gen games at E3.

#TEAMCG has been vindicated! Discuss.

It was funny, but I'd want to see actual gameplay and graphics during gameplay. Heavy Rain's game play is horrible, sure the faces look good during the loading screens. Other than that, the game is very robotic and kind of creepy in how robotic it is.

I just wish Sony would have showed us more games that we didn't already know about. Maybe they could have cut down on some of the demos and gotten a few more exclusives up, at least a teaser like flashing a picture of Drake up or something like that.

Reports are 2/3 their studios are in active development of next Gen IP's. Seems they're going with the slow drip this time around and saving their wad. TGS and Gamerscon is coming up next, so I wouldn't be surprised to see more from their European and Japanese studios. Comicon, Penny Arcade Expo, GDC, next E3.. they're planning ahead.

Seems they didn't want to pull a E3 06/07 where they announced a ton of great games/ideas too early, many of which never saw the light of day. Agent comes to mind.

Combined with the PS4 reveal, we have quite a bit of access to information of games coming for the new console post E3 considering its not even out yet for 4-5 more months.

We'll see more at Gamescom, and keep in mind that we have yet to see the onslaught of Japanese titles in development. Usually TGS is the place for those games, but Sony Japan recently suggested that they may have an event before then.
