I...ah...well...I'm just disappointed.
It just seems kind of hopeless with Dice...sort of. They put so much into this franchise, yet they take so much away by not applying the finishing touches.
I just have a major problem with them not allowing us to mix the map packs together. It almost doesn't matter if this DLC was really good. (It's not really good btw. And though I do not think BF3's Aftermath DLC is really a good comparison, I think Aftermath was a much better DLC.) Matter of fact, my last line of the last match last night, after playing the flooded casino boat map, was, "this DLC sucks".
Honestly though, I think the main problem I have with every single DLC, is that you can not, REPEAT...CAN NOT PUT THEM IN ONE PLAYLIST AND PLAY THEM TOGETHER...DICE...WTF. Sure, I think I could possibly really like to mix this DLC in with other maps that have released previous, whether it be from the standard BF4 maps or the previous DLC. But Dice has not come up with a way to allow this.
Rent-a-Server is basically useless because the one thing it is supposed to do, it doesn't do. Rent-a-server settings don't allow you to populate a server unless your rented server is setup as "OFFICIAL", and to be deemed "OFFICIAL" you can not mix map packs in one playlist. Only an "OFFICIAL" server will bring in Quick Match people. Quick match people/morons is constantly feeding people into servers which keeps them full. Therefore, Rent-a-Server doesn't allow you to make really cool rotations with maps from all map packs, because then your server would not be deemed "OFFICIAL".
And, guess what? Dice and EA do not have premium only servers with rotations featuring maps from different map packs.
Absolute ridiculous predicament that this puts the Battlefield console community in.
To me, and the majority of the community, the DLC map packs (4 extremely similar maps per DLC pack) are just not that popular. They just get very stale, very quickly.
I just feel forced to play the standard BF4 map rotations because they offer the most variety from one match to the next, and the fact that they are the most populated throughout a night, round after round.
Are DICE and EA, not shooting themselves in the foot? I mean they just can't stop beating themselves.
Fix the settings / rules for Rent-a-Servers that can allow servers to get populated and stay populated. And provide the console community with Dice / EA servers, that are premium only servers, and that feature maps from all the map packs.
Ridiculous predicament. Completely punishes premium members, because it just makes the DLC map packs boring. I mean, who wants to only play the same map pack, with the same 4 maps over and over?
That's why I think I am down on Dragon's Teeth. It's almost like, I'll never honestly know if I even like the map pack, because I never get to find out what modes play well on it, because it is freaking boring playing the same 4 maps over and over. (Unless they are epic...and let's face it...nothing from BF4 is epic, because Dice and EA simply will not allow it.)
IDK. I am just not a big fan of Dragon's Teeth so far. I only played Obliteration though, but guess what? That might be the last time I play that mode on these maps for reasons explained above.
I couldn't believe it when I took off out of the base in a Scout Helicopter and immediately hit the ceiling, then flew lower and immediately hit a rooftop. Stupid.
The waterless, Flood Zone map was a bit much IMO with the 3 story buildings everywhere.
The snow train map seemed okay. I got run over by the train and is scared the hell out of me. I mean, I turned around just in time to see the train barrel me over and it completely freaked me out. It just shocked me. I think I screamed a little. I'm not sure if the video captured, because that feature still doesn't work correctly.
The Limpini Gardens was a ridiculous sniper simulator 2014, sniper mess.
IDK. I'm mainly just appalled at the lack of support for premium members being able to enjoy this game as they should be able to, by not allowing us to play different map packs all on one rotation. Therefore, all the DLC...ALL THE DLC is fairly worthless to me.
I feel bad for telling people earlier in the year, that if you are going to purchase BF4, then you should purchase premium as well. I see no reason to get premium in the future because it does not provide very much...because you simply can't mix the DLC maps together in one rotation, and enjoy a couple hours with your buddies, match after match on the same team in the same server.
