After playing through this game, I am have trouble getting motivated to play anything else. After this bit of perfection, any other game is bound to be a letdown.....will probably be on PS3 hiatus until GTA5....then onto the the PS4!

I feel ya man. Same thing happened to me. I've played a few games after TLOU, and it's not the same.

Yeah, this game really brings to your attention just how poor the overall quality of games have gotten over the past few years. Hopefully this game motivates other game makers to step their game up.

500 gigs FTW.

I thought the ending was perfect.

The entire game played out more like a living book than it did a movie.

I think Bd nailed it, I really won't look at games the same way, Naughty Dog hit a level I thought was impossible for a game.

I'll admit, I hesitated to shoot the doctors, because the decision really was a heavy one, then I got curious as to if ND had an option to let the first doc live, nope, gunned down all three once I realized nothing was going to happen until I shot them. I do wish that we had the option of pulling the trigger at the very end...

And Ellie isn't stupid, she knows full well that Joel is lying about the Fireflies, but like was said earlier, she also knows that he will never abandon her again.

And I also have to wonder, is she contagious? And if so, how much? Can she live a normal life and raise a family or would she just infect anyone she got close to? (Joel never did giver her mouth to mouth and that psyco she bit wasn't alive long enough to find out...)

This was visible in the preview on my mobile.

Paragraph gaps do not seperate anything in the preview, so we need a larger buffer that will actually hide any spoilers.

Just finished it, finally. My playthrough was interrupted for a couple weeks, unfortunately, which obviously detracted from my experience. Anyway, I have a question about the plot; not a big deal, but maybe someone can clarify something for me:

When Joel and Ellie reach the hospital in Salt Lake City, Marlene is already there. According to a journal of Marlene's, at one point in March she had received word that they were dead. But she was expecting them to attempt the trip to Salt Lake City, even though nine months earlier, all she had asked of Joel was to deliver Ellie to the Capitol Building in Boston. What made her think they would be traveling all the way across the country?

Lot of great info from a Reddit AMA

http://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2013/07/31/the-last-of-us-ama-talks-future-ideas-dlc-ps4-alternate-endings-cut-content-unkarted-racing-much-more/1/

Best is the ending was not well received by control groups, but they still went with it. Way to go with your gut on that one!

She didn't, and they weren't expecting them nor knew what happened. She just found out that the escorts never made it out of Boston after the military's east coast offensive against the fireflys.

March 23

Ellie never made it.

We arrived at the hospital. There was much celebration, at least from the others. I guess they're happy to see their old friends. We haven't seen some of these guys in over ten years.

After they told me the news, I couldn't eat. I couldn't talk to anyone.

I should be grateful to just be alive, but right now I just want to shut my eyes for a bit.

March 24

They look at me and I know what they're thinking - that we're a bunch f incompetent grunts. What was I supposed to do? I thought I was going to die... my men were being hunted by the entire Boston battalion. I had to get her out of the city. How was I supposed to know the Firefly escorts were already dead?

Goddamn it...

I panicked. In the end I healed pretty damn quickly, and my men were more capable than I gave them credit for. More than a handful survived the army's attack. I should've kept her with me, instead I handed her off to a couple of smugglers.

I failed you, Anna. I failed all of us.

I am an incompetent grunt.

I guess I'm having trouble with the dates on those entries. I feel like those entries would have made more sense if they were dated September. Like I said, not a big deal, but I was thrown when I read that journal.

Just finished it a little while ago. In all honesty, I bought it with trepidation. The Uncharted series always got stellar ratings. And while I "liked" them, I wasn't as wowed as the rest of the world. Maybe it's because I gravitate to open-world games. And then I thought, "Yet another virus/zombie/survival theme? Yawn." But I figured I should play it just to avoid the inevitable spoilers. I almost managed to do that. I didn't know that we'd get to play as Ellie, and once I heard, it really bothered me. Maybe it wasn't a huge spoiler, but I kept wondering what series of events would lead to it.

Anyway - my trepidation was quickly dissolved. I've never been so emotionally attached to video game characters. I'm genuinely sad that it's over. That's about all I can muster for the moment.

Tell you what, this generation has had phenomenal stories. Spec Ops was probably my highest rated story with pulling you in and making you feel everything this one actually went a few steps above that. Enslaved was another amazing story with great gameplay.

I picked this up Friday and just finished of today. From getting your backpack wet after swimming to the textures of clothing the graphics really, really were just awesome.

I thought we'd end killing Bill after he betrayed us but that didn't happen. Hank and his lil bro were...I don't know unexpected.

The game was very immersive up to a point. When I'd drop somebody blasting away at me and not get ammo or have to bust through a door and not bother to close and bar it. Those moments just felt off. Especially the doors. Hell you pull a bar out and are being chased, would you not slam the door shut and replace the bar? Those are minor nitpicks but were all throughout reminding me it was a game.

I killed the $%&* out of those surgeons. By the time Ellie got captured by the cannibals I was in blood rage mode. I made it a point to brutally detach anyone I came across. Axe? Check. Machete? Check.

Joel surviving a gut shot and inevitable blood loss was kind of hoky but maybe it could have happened.

Overall it definitely lived up to the hype.

Was anyone else a little disappointed at the Colorado Cannibals? If I had one issue with the game, thinking extensively about it, something with them was off. It started out great, and it really started to contrast the idea that Joel and Ellie aren't saints either in this kill or be killed world. While you might not feel sympathy with their group, I definitely started feeling empathy towards them.

And then they erased all that by making them evil cannibals. Back to one dimensional bad guys they go....

I would have left that decision out of it, and kept them much more nuanced. After all, Joel was a "psychotic" stranger and they had their own people to look out after. I think the problem that this world introduces is a much bigger payoff, with everyone on the edge.

I can't recall any situation where J&E shot first. At that point, what choice do they have?

When under player control, Joel kills first during many of the encounters in the game.

As for David's group's cannibalism, I agree that it was over the top. I also found David's motivations a little unclear. He apparently likes Ellie and wants to bring her into the group, but by the time she's in the cell, she's killed many of his people already. His men also shot to kill when they came looking for her that morning. If giving her the penicillin before was intended as a peace offering, David should have shown up himself and made his case, rather than sending dozens of armed men.

They were shady dirtbags from the start. I never felt right about them. Of course, these days its hard to play a game or see a movie and not question everyone's motives. Two dudes in a forest talking to a little girl? Especially when no other group without women and children were good in any way. Not talking about their women in camp, just mean the two dudes when she first meets them. I kind of hoped it would take a different turn after Ellie and David I think his name was, survive the mill. Then they had to go all cannibally and I couldn't wait to massacre them.

Sorry, my copy and paste is glitched on my phone, so random keyboard presses for a buffer!

I had no issue with them being cannibals, no worse than the hunters from earlier, they just took it a step further. (And honestly, I expected the hunters to be cannibals) It did make me stop caring for David on the spot, so that could be a complaint. I do have to wonder how many in their colony know they eat people... they seemed to have a ton of people living with them, including children, so it does make me stop and think, do they all eat people? Or do some elect to not eat them?

See, I though the cannibals part were a perfect "leveling" point for twisted morality in that fraked up world.

Up until that point Ellie and Joel killed a lot and you kind of started to get a bit numb to it. For me the cannibals reset that numbness by them going over the preverbial line. I mean, it's one thing to kill a person, to eat them is different. With all the hunger and lack of food it would be easy for what's left of humanity to go all soilent green on people but Ellie and Joel, and most others, not going cannibal was one of the things that kept them civilized ..... well, as much as you could be civilized in such a world.

My issue with the whole Cannibals thing is David ...... knowing thats Nolan North and being able to hear his core voice in the acted voice, I'm not sure I'm going to be able to play Uncharted the same ever again. Ill be waiting for Drake to go all crazy creeper or take a bite out of Sully's ass!

David was just a uber villainous creeper. I don't think he had a noble or nice intention in his body. His sole purpose for giving Ellie the meds was one, to get alone time with her to "feel her out" and two to be able to track her back to Joel/her group.

As for being part of her group. I didn't take it as, "Hey, you want to be a part of our band of merry men" ideals. I took it as a rapey lunatics line of reasoning like, "hey, you want to be part of us, and be part of us is being locked in a room and we feed you humans and we use you".

I mean, that whole town section seems big (best use of loading trickeration ever with that weather) and you don't come across one women or child in the lot. I'm sure they exist, just locked up somewhere without freedom or choice ..... David was just a disgusting, vile human. Really the high water mark of creepiness in the history of video games, at least for me.

We saw one woman, as soon as you hit the shops and David says Ellie is infected and has escaped, he is telling that to a woman, who then runs off to get the children.

I also like that if you sneak past them instead of killing everyone in that section, some will follow you to the new area. Made my Survivor run a little more stressful.

I took David as a Governor type from the Walking Dead. Probably a core group that knew what was up but the rest were in the dark.

Come on now .... i dont see that, David wasn't in horribly acted, shallow, lacking of depth, predictable and on a horribly contrived, soap opera level of acting, full of nothing but gratuitous violence and bad camera shots of a video game ...... wink.gif heh.

Missed that, or at least I don't remember since I've levied a personal boycott on replaying The Last of Us for the foreseeable future so I don't go mad from replaying it over and over and over and over and over since that was the pattern I was forming.
